Car value are base on generation. Exemple: Almost all the youngster born in the 40s-50s who was 20 years in the 60s and 70s were bying there first cars new or old. This first car remind them when they were young now grown up, they have cash to buy nostalgia but when they reach this buying power those car are now rare to find in good condition. At this point price rise until this generation fade away. Most of there kids will not like out of style car and value will fall.

There is a sucker born every minute (today must be every second). The first thing my dad taught me when buying a car was never, ever pay MSRP much less 10s of thousands over MSRP. Now with vehicle MSRPs jumping 20-40% each year anyone buying these depreciating POS I wouldn’t even show up to a dealership.

times change, dunno when your dad last bought a car but usually discounts are only if you finance vehicles with the manufacturer. if the demand exceed the supply, such as a civic type r, best of luck getting anything under msrp. most dealers won't offer any discount if you pay cash unless they are desperate to move the car. gotta pay to play but also know your playground so you know youre not getting robbed
@eriksmith6873

I sold cars for a time, from 2005 to 2009, and learned the same lesson -- don't pay MSRP. But my sense is that the old rules went out the window during COVID. I just don't think it is reasonable to expect the market to play by the old rules anytime in the near future. Yet in today's climate, carbuyers have nothing to fear in buying a car at a dealer if they educate themselves about car values, and they stick to their guns. Last week, I bought a car at a dealer, I did my research and I paid a fair price. This is a little scary for many people. But in today's climate, this is the only way for a carbuyer to "win."
@thePrisioner6
@thePrisioner6 2 ай бұрын
@@eriksmith6873 One way to get into trouble is by playing by someone else’s rules. You stick to your guns and never, ever pay what a dealer sets as a price. Just walk away. By doing this you don’t end up 10s of thousands of dollars underwater on a vehicle. Bottom line a car is never an “investment” and never fall for manufacturers and dealership tricks trying to make you think otherwise.

It makes me heartsick. I love the Chrysler 300 (the Hemi version). I wanted to buy a new one. There are hundreds of brand-new 2023 models sitting on dealer lots. But Chrysler's suicidal foreign owners are providing NO rebates, no meaningful financing incentives -- nothing. Any discounts you see are from dealers, not manufacturers, and the dealers can only go so far. If the anemic deals on the Dodges are all that is offered, the "last call" is going to last forever. The tragedy is that the Mopar V-8s are among the best cars ever made, and they do not deserve to die.

I leased a new Tesla Model 3. A basic mode 3 lease is advertised for $300/mo with 3k down, for 36 months. It's like all lease deals, ours the door, taxes, plates, and fees. I'm happy with it. It fits my circumstances...I park it in my garage and can keep it charged up plugging into ordinary 110 wall socket. If I drove more, I would upgrade to 220v outlet. I'd say the price is in the ballpark of a nice midsize new car. The average American isn't buying the average new car these days. Any new car is a luxury, and no lease is ever a great deal. The acceleration in my single motor modes (335 ft lbs torque) is very quick from 10-20 to 60. Which is what I do all the time (most people do). I'm switching from a turbo vehicle...but electric motors produce maximum torque at the start vs turbos that need to spool up. It feels very quick and agile. I don't drive fast, so I couldn't see paying more for more motor. Most Tesla's are now Model 3s and Ys. And they run from $40,000 to $50,000. I think it is this pricing that is hurting used car prices. Plus the government subsidy is maybe $200/mo on a 36 month lease. An advertised Honda Civic Lease...Lease Expires: 9/3/24 2025 Civic Sedan LX $279/mo for 36 mos DETAILS $3,499 due at signing¹

@Someone_Cool.x3

Hybrids are sooo dumb. They're an illusion of a safety net you don't even need. Avg American drives 30 miles a day and road tripping might account for 1 to 2 % total miles driven in a yr. So sure, continue to pay for oil changes, gas, and maintenance on 100+ parts that can fail on you. Significant savings with EV ownership and convenience of charging from home add lots of value. You're going to see a major shift in the next year or two when the average American realizes the financial benefits of owning an EV. The major 3 "American" automakers have convinced you that you need a hybrid because they can't make/sell an EV profitably despite the continued exponential growth of EV adoption. I put 25k/yr on my EV and have 50+ mile commute daily. Oh wait... should've gotten a hybrid 😂

Let's think for a moment, how could an EV that has an ever deteriorating battery that will cost more than the cost of the car to replace within 4yrs.
@eddiemcars
@eddiemcars 2 ай бұрын
I buy and sell cars all the time but never in my life have I taken such a hard hit with depreciation like I did with the Tesla. I bought a brand new 23 Tesla Model 3 Performance 56k that I only drove for a year. I’m not a car flipper. Just a car guy who changes his mind a lot and thinking the EV would be a good commuter car until it didn’t. I sold it privately for a significant loss because dealers wouldn’t take it except CarMax. As a matter of fact, the other cars identical to mine that were for sale then are still for sale 2 months later as the dealers are constantly lowering the prices. So yeah, about 50% off of last year’s price is what EV’s are selling for.

Come on Lucky, these cars are toys they are not practical transportation. The high dollar sales were the "I want to have one first" people. Unless you have a fast charger at home or travel less than 50 miles a day, they just aren't practical. Who wants to sit at a charger for a half hour when you can fuel a gas car in 3 minutes.

I charge at home, and when I travel it takes about 15mins to get my YM ready. Pull up, plug, hit the bathroom, car ready. Other EVs don’t have that kind of network and ease. It isn’t much different when I drive my Toyota RAV4. Different approach to EVs, but same result and cheaper in the long run.

@@johnnyquid-xj4kk What about tire consumption? I've heard it's like every 15k. I'm waiting for the car that's made entirely out of solar panels and charges itself. But I'm also a little bit of a conspiracy theorist and our government doesn't want anyone getting free energy. It's harder to tax it. Which is another thing.... I'm in AZ and there are so many Teslas here (there's 3 Cybertrucks in my neighborhood) that there are no incentives to drive an EV. I am theoretically perfect for an EV, I'm retired and drive about 300 miles a month. But there's no way I'm going to pay for something that just sits there. My cars are paid for.

New tires at 15k sounds like BS. He racing? I have a set of tires for my YM AWD w about 5k mi already and they look new. The others in my garage w 24k mi don’t look worn out either. I keep them as spares. Lots of misinformation out there. I’m not a fan of the cybertruck or other EV makers. They responded to the demand but didn’t know how to make reliable cars. A Tesla ain’t a Hyundai, and a Toyota ain’t a Ford, but the anti ev crowd lumps it all together to sell their narrative. Buying an ev takes a little planning, it’s not like keeping an ICE. But I understand your concerns. You could rent an ev and really learn how it could work for you. It’s like anything, different strokes. I used to live in Glendale, AZ. I miss the trails. Cheers.

Audi just extended the electric motors to 10 years and 120k miles, battery is until 8 years 100k miles. Yes it doesnt have the range as many other EVs but its like a hidden gem. I wanted to "try an electric" and i believe the Audi Etron is a damn good deal if youre not looking for ultimate range or anything. The charging of it at level 3 ccs dc is usually 22-25 minutes as well for up to 80%. Looking at them currently and they have dropped below 26-29 as of current searches.

The irony is the entire car market post 2015 has moved into treating cars like phones - like a piece of tech that with all the screens will be laggy, obsolete in 10-15 years. It's goign to get worse as cars are embedded with more technology that cant be repaired or worse, mechanics will need engineering degree's to fix and then the software unlock and pair parts. 2015-2025 is the last golden age of cars the right balance of tech, analog function and reparability, reliablity and longevity. I dont see anyone holding onto their all screens Mercedes Benz or Tesla for the next 25 years like some people used to holdon to their classic modern cars.

TESLA intentionally reduces pricing and puts pressure on the entire automaket. They have record profit margins compared to any mass manufacturered ICE automaker. As battery material pricing comes down (30% this past year) so will EV prices...not rocket science here, just economics 101. Long term, EVs will be wayy cheaper than ICE vehicles.

So it tends to make you think that electric cars could never ultimately be worth more than gas.... Chew on that... By the way... this is also the reason that side by side vehicles are becoming as expensive as used Jeep wranglers... Because that's the alternative... Why is milk so expensive? It's because you have to pay the milk to not become cheese , or ice cream ... Etc....
