This first car remind them when they were young now grown up, they have cash to buy nostalgia but when they reach this buying power those car are now rare to find in good condition. At this point price rise until this generation fade away. Most of there kids will not like out of style car and value will fall.

times change, dunno when your dad last bought a car but usually discounts are only if you finance vehicles with the manufacturer. if the demand exceed the supply, such as a civic type r, best of luck getting anything under msrp. most dealers won't offer any discount if you pay cash unless they are desperate to move the car. gotta pay to play but also know your playground so you know youre not getting robbed
@eriksmith68732 ай бұрын
I sold cars for a time, from 2005 to 2009, and learned the same lesson -- don't pay MSRP. But my sense is that the old rules went out the window during COVID. I just don't think it is reasonable to expect the market to play by the old rules anytime in the near future. Yet in today's climate, carbuyers have nothing to fear in buying a car at a dealer if they educate themselves about car values, and they stick to their guns. Last week, I bought a car at a dealer, I did my research and I paid a fair price. This is a little scary for many people. But in today's climate, this is the only way for a carbuyer to "win."
@thePrisioner62 ай бұрын
@@eriksmith6873 One way to get into trouble is by playing by someone else’s rules. You stick to your guns and never, ever pay what a dealer sets as a price. Just walk away. I leased a new Tesla Model 3. A basic mode 3 lease is advertised for $300/mo with 3k down, for 36 months. It's like all lease deals, ours the door, taxes, plates, and fees. I'm happy with it. It fits my circumstances...I park it in my garage and can keep it charged up plugging into ordinary 110 wall socket. If I drove more, I would upgrade to 220v outlet. I'd say the price is in the ballpark of a nice midsize new car. The average American isn't buying the average new car these days. Any new car is a luxury, and no lease is ever a great deal. The acceleration in my single motor modes (335 ft lbs torque) is very quick from 10-20 to 60. Which is what I do all the time (most people do). I'm switching from a turbo vehicle...but electric motors produce maximum torque at the start vs turbos that need to spool up. It feels very quick and agile. I don't drive fast, so I couldn't see paying more for more motor. Most Tesla's are now Model 3s and Ys. And they run from $40,000 to $50,000. I think it is this pricing that is hurting used car prices. Plus the government subsidy is maybe $200/mo on a 36 month lease. Hybrids are sooo dumb. They're an illusion of a safety net you don't even need. Avg American drives 30 miles a day and road tripping might account for 1 to 2 % total miles driven in a yr. So sure, continue to pay for oil changes, gas, and maintenance on 100+ parts that can fail on you. Significant savings with EV ownership and convenience of charging from home add lots of value. You're going to see a major shift in the next year or two when the average American realizes the financial benefits of owning an EV. The major 3 "American" automakers have convinced you that you need a hybrid because they can't make/sell an EV profitably despite the continued exponential growth of EV adoption. 😂 I would love to buy a low mileage Model S Plaid for 50K! It’s a 9 second car. I have a Model Y Performance and the only maintenance I had to get was an air filter and tires. And they came to my house to service the car. The maintenance costs are extremely low. In fact, I don’t plan on selling it for at least another 10 years. Low maintenance and high performance is unheard of. 12 bucks to charge at home 👍🏾

bought a 19 Audi Etron pp with less than 8k miles, (almost a year ago) stickered at just under 82k new, got it for 32k. Audi just extended the electric motors to 10 years and 120k miles, battery is until 8 years 100k miles. Yes it doesnt have the range as many other EVs but its like a hidden gem. I wanted to "try an electric" and i believe the Audi Etron is a damn good deal if youre not looking for ultimate range or anything. The charging of it at level 3 ccs dc is usually 22-25 minutes as well for up to 80%. Looking at them currently and they have dropped below 26-29 as of current searches.

The irony is the entire car market post 2015 has moved into treating cars like phones - like a piece of tech that with all the screens will be laggy, obsolete in 10-15 years. It's goign to get worse as cars are embedded with more technology that cant be repaired or worse, mechanics will need engineering degree's to fix and then the software unlock and pair parts. 2015-2025 is the last golden age of cars the right balance of tech, analog function and reparability, reliablity and longevity. I dont see anyone holding onto their all screens Mercedes Benz or Tesla for the next 25 years like some people used to holdon to their classic modern cars.

This show essentially writes itself. If you're an idiot and purchase a vehicle at launch and expect it to go up in value I don't feel bad for you. TESLA intentionally reduces pricing and puts pressure on the entire automaket. They have record profit margins compared to any mass manufacturered ICE automaker. As battery material pricing comes down (30% this past year) so will EV prices...not rocket science here, just economics 101. Long term, EVs will be wayy cheaper than ICE vehicles.

The most valuable thing I learned from Thomas sowell's book on basic economics was that the value of something is its value in alternative uses... Gas cars are still an alternative to electric.... So it tends to make you think that electric cars could never ultimately be worth more than gas.... Chew on that... By the way... this is also the reason that side by side vehicles are becoming as expensive as used Jeep wranglers... Because that's the alternative... Why is milk so expensive? It's because you have to pay the milk to not become cheese , or ice cream ... Etc....
