I started driving (legally) in 1969. I've owned a lot of pickups and they were utility vehicles to me. When I worked in construction I could go and pick up a sheet of plywood and it fit in the back. A good load of firewood also fit in the back and my trucks were high enough to drive off road. The more pickups have changed over the years it seems to me they have lost a lot of their usefulness. They have larger cabs and smaller bodies. How do you haul plywood or 8 foot two by fours now? Hanging over the back? Now some trucks are ridiculously high so that they are a hazard to pedestrians. The bodies are so high that putting a load on the back of the truck means you have to lift things higher than you should have to lift them. It just seems they are losing their usefulness and utility. Always enjoy watching Scotty and hearing his Scottyisms.

@matraz1023 күн бұрын
I'm sure others have pointed this out, but the steering of course is by wire. There's no direct connection. (Infiniti did it first) So at slow speeds it over steers for maneuverability turning all 4 wheels. At faster speeds it readjusts how much the wheels will turn compared to how much the steering wheel is turned. Should have also pointed out that there is no floor, only the top of the battery. If the battery is dropped in the Cybertruck or the Model Y the seats, carpeting, center arm rest, and etc. all go with the battery cause they are attached to the top of it.

Scotty, the steering wheel is so responsive at slow speeds because the car uses steer by wire. That's why the steering wheel doesn't turn that far. At low speeds, slight adjustment to the steering wheel makes sharper turn than it will at high speeds. The truck also has rear wheel steering, which is why such a big truck can make tight turns. There is no mechanical connection between the steering wheel and tires with steer by wire.

Scotty doesn't seem to realize that this cybertruck is a drive by wire. It means there is NO connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. In a VERY simplistic example when you make for example a right turn, the wheel sends info to a computer telling it you are making a right turn and the computer sends the message to the wheels to turn right. Consequently turning the steering wheel in a Tesla will seems strange.

Judging from the steering wheel design, I’m surprised they made the tires round😂😂😂.

I respect the work he's 'trying' to do as in space travel and building new car designs but as with all things... what has been done before aint always broke. This isn't a truck... it's more like an el camino with 90's gaming vibes. It's a toy.

Less than. Got here after another video.... these things are built like trash even by tesla standards. The guy did a slam test and all four doors, if slammed had the inner panels pop off and get logged inside. Destroyed them opening the door back up. He tried to tow a f150 (in all fairness this is after he beat the hell out of the thing and put it through more than a hummer would see in Afghanistan). Went to tow the f150 and the back end ripped right off. The only thing it handled well was at the verry end he tested musks "indestructible/made for a warzone" claim and put a small explosive charge on the tail gate. The charge ripped right through the f150 but on the cyber truck only broke the outer steel plate, tailgate remained. Best part was right off the bat he got stuck at a charging station unable to charge because tesla didn't have him registered as the owner yet.

On the other hand, there are plenty of very expensive cars that are not that practical and built to be a fun toy. If not for the dangerous threat it poses to pedestrians and the way-off balance between lightning-fast acceleration and rather slow braking, I figure it's the buyer's money. The problem is innocent people will pay for bad judgement of both the automaker and the driver behind the wheel. This is the next Pinto lawsuit in time. Wonder what the insurance premiums on this car will look like after a few years of data bears this out.

To say the design of the Tesla truck is odd is an understatement. It makes both the Edsel and the 1932 Stout Scarab seem tamed in comparison. Thanks Scotty!!

Its like a 200 dollar beater that you have to let "rest" every 2 hours when traveling on a highway. But it costs a fortune for the same experience

Correct! I had a 1963 Cadillac that could go FOURS!!! And it cost me EXACTLY $200 in 1980 an lasted thru 1984 with no software updates since the Johnson Administration, LOL.

Cybertruck is super cool looking, but it's not a $100,000 quality for there are so many issues to be worked out due to being a completely new design. The entire vehicle except the wheel was re-invented which is kinda unnecessary. I want the Cybertruck body with more conventional serviceable components. No one is buying Cybertruck, but they are buying Model 3's.
