Sheep Breeding Season: What Happens In Sheep Barns At Night!

There is a lot of action going on in the sheep barns tonight at Ewetopia Farms! The second round of sheep breeding season is underway, and the rams are hard at work, showing off for the ewes. Night chores were a little different this evening due to more barns being reorganized for the new breeding groups. Sheep do not like change in their routines, especially in their housing arrangements, so many sheep were upset with being put into different barns or pens. However, those sheep in the actual breeding pens were very excited with their new pen mates!
Tonight, as nightly chores of feeding sheep are being done, we take an in-depth look at the breeding pens and discuss the rams we chose as flock sires for this round of breeding.

I remember Arniectelling us about the Suffolk ewes that are like queen beds for those lambs. Love that Arnie says you are always right. Arnie is so funny. Love it. Arnie, you are always so informative! As you talk I’m watching and checking out the ewes and rams to see all the traits you’re mentioning. Awesome! Such an enjoyment to see those ewes at the feeder like a fine, even line of perfection. Every back and rump perfectly formed for lambing. I would agree that you guys rarely have trouble with lambing. Other channels need to watch how you do it and take note. Just my opinion, however! 😁

When we put the rams out to our ewes we usually give them around 80 to a hundred in each lot and then change them around every 17 to 21 days darling people ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Lynn and Arnie can’t change up the rams that frequently because they need to know exactly who the sire is. That means leaving a gap (five days? more?) between rams. I like the setups where people put multiple rams out with a flock of ewes. I imagine the rams up their game a bit with the competition and I like to think the ewes benefit from being able to be a bit choosy. But I’m not a shepherd and I’m probably making things up.
