Vatican 2 used the strategy of discussing and collecting opinions from a vast number of people beyond the Council Fathers and the ordained participants. This Synod is just taking this procedure further to build on the modernization of the Church, bringing it in line with current secular, Modernist, progressive values. As an EO, I find this spectacle quite frustrating. First, the EO have been calling out undue excess & practice of papal authority for centuries. And not because we eschewed primacy. Second, a synod of bishops with its primate, pace Fr Murray, was not instituted by VII but is part of the apostolic constitution of the Church. The Orthodox never ceased having synods. And they aren’t this. We don’t debate established doctrine & morals. Third, regardless of our impaired communion, as goes Rome so goes the Christian world, whether voluntarily or in reaction. But what happened to Roman confidence? Why does it use the failed Protestant mainlines as it template? This liturgy sounds like American mainline Protestantism, with its passive-aggressiveness. Very odd. Very worldly. Even though we disagree on certain matters vehemently, I stand with traditionalist Catholics against the erosion of apostolic faith.

There is room in there for the SSPX.

Very good analysis of this present Synod show .Absolutely an unnecessary format enabling undermining Church Teachings and giving women assess to agitate for priesthood. First of all people are not sheep and bishops are no longer feudal Lords many of which centuries ago never even visited their diocese. Those days are over accepting backward-looking places like Alabama where teen pregnancies are rife. Women are no longer simply custodians of the lusts of their husbands to keep them in a state of grace by being subject to their desires with no regard to their fulfillment as human beings. The idealized concept of family has always been easy for people who never have to support any children of their own. Those days are over and the spiritual caste system that reduces the majority of Catholics to infantile subservient status under the constant threat of being burned forever in hell for disagreeing with their bishops is over as well.
