2 former Amtrak locomotives 644 and 231. 644 was painted in blue and silver colors and 231 painting in Daylight colors.

They are now parked at the Nevada Railway Museum in Boulder City Nevada.

That unit in Daylight colors is far more attractive than any Amtrak scheme. The blue and silver (D&H?) looks nice too.

BNSF #3613 got preserved 8 years later and then arrived on ORHF property in October 2023. That little switcher helped #231 and #644 and now it's got a good home at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center in Portland Oregon.

They had to be moved due to vandalism. They headed to Utah and then the Nevada Southern Railway Museum. As of 2023 DYRX #644 is operational as DYRX #6976 and DYRX #231 is undergoing operational repairs

DYRX #644 is now operational as DYRX #6976 on the Nevada Southern Railway and DYRX #231 is undergoing operational repairs.

They'll have to rebuild the nose on the SDP40F if they want to make it original. Santa Fe put a new nose on it when they got it.

I know this is an old comment, but as far as I know they plan to move it back to the heritage center at some point, they just have other projects right now and it needs heavy repairs due to some vandalism.

It was a Santa Fe unit after Amtrack was done with it, hence the warbonnet style paint scheme.

nope, the 45 has a 20 cyl prime mover, the 40 has a 16 cyl prime mover. plus the 45 has hand rails on front, the 40 does not.

Wait #3613 isn't scrapped. The ORHC preserved BNSF #3613 and she was held onto by AERC until they were done with the turntable and she's now at ORHC as of 2024. She arrived after the turntable was installed in October 2023.
