*PLEASE READ* Just so everyone is aware we did discuss the meaning of the song off camera , afterward in detail however the dance practice just didn't connect with Ola overall and that's okay, a live performance may have been a better alternative. Not everyone's going to interpret things the same way especially from a first impressions basis without translated lyrics at the bottom. It's not personal nor is it a discredit to BTS. It wouldn't be realistic if any of my reactors loved every single thing even if they knew the meaning. Thanks!

I think it's totally fine that Ola didn't connect with the song. I would suggest watching the music video and searching up the lyrics as they are beautiful. Spring Day is one of my personal favs and it has a calming effect on me. Thanks for the reaction ☺️. This is a live version of spring day. The camera work is really essential for this song as it just so expressive and the expressions on all the member's faces were just fitting to the vibe. I actually thought Ola would appreciate it more given there’s a lot of contemporary and story telling elements to it. To me, it shows BTS being able to show a different kind of dancing skill/talent, given that they’re more knows for hiphop and street-type dancing. It’s impressive how versatile they are. Having said that, although I’m disappointed that Ola did not have a more visceral reaction to the dance practice, I respect Ola’s point of view and opinion. Thank you for reacting!

I think the reason it didn’t connect is because he didn’t understand the lyrics. The song is the story that was being told in the choreo. Completely understandable that he couldn’t visualize it without him being given any context. Thx for the reaction.

It's kinda funny when Ola asked if the choreo was for the MV because this is probably one of the few tracks w/ MVs that didn't have any dancing in the MV but has full interpretative choreo (another example is Run and BS&T). I can see why you got that impression, it would suit a music video if there is a dance version of it (tbh, the live performances look like music videos), but the storytelling of the song, choreo, and MV each has their own depth to it which contributes to its overall feel so it's like different but one at the same time.

This dance is more like a combo of lyrical/modern style which is telling a story and wonderfully executed. I do understand it would be hard to understand without understanding the lyrics. This is one of the things I am happy that I speak Korean and being a dancer. I suggest for you to read the lyrics and watch the dance again to appreciate this awesome piece.

Also watch the official mv and the explanation behind it. Then watching the life performance and the practice again. Maybe you'll get a chance to connect more to it (or not). I love ballet and contempary dance (I love all different types of dancestyles). A lot of time by contempary dance I need to know the story behind the dance to fully understand the story. That's just me. Even though in my country when I was in school we went to theaters to watch different kind of art. In my country it is mandatory for all schools to introduce children to art and culture because, not everyone has the money to take their children to see art etc. So the government pay's it. It's part of our education. I do respect you for your personnel opinion. I like different opinions because, I van always learn from it. You are respectfull towards BTS. 👍🍀🌷🇳🇱

This is one of those few dance practices that I actually prefer to see live on stage. The impact, at least for me personally, for this dance is translated better thru a live stage particularly their MMA performance of this song. Normally I love dance practices because I get to see the actual choreo versus in an MV with so many cameras angles and scenes you don't get a whole lot. However with this one i enjoy it more on a live stage because the camera angles give it more impact. The song alone though makes me tear up every now and then

I feel like this choreography matches well with the song but it's best appreciated if you know the lyrics..even more so if you know Korean and the atmosphere around when this song was made. For some reason that mix makes the whole experience of the performance of this song so powerful and emotional. Great reaction anyway! I always love to hear what Ola has to say about choreo.

Could Ola please react to a stage version live performance of Spring Day? I think Spring Day is one of their most beautiful, memorable and impactful live stage performances... it's not a routine for the mv, as you are well aware since the mv doesn't really have dancing at all in it -- this routine is indeed meant for the stage, with the backgrounds, props, camerawork etc. It's beautiful sublime somber and dazzling all at the same time. Those solo moments with Jimin's "dust fairy" dance and the Taehyung and Jin moment towards the end, the dance movements and song are incredibly artistic and meaningful. I agree with Ola in the sense that this isn't a dance practice in sweats in an empty dance room kind of a routine... it's fine that he didn't connect with it in this reaction but I just wish he could see how beautiful the live performance stage of Spring Day is, and I think from a performance stage perspective and as a dancer performer (and perhaps choreographer) I think it might be interesting for Ola to see how a routine like this translates to the stage with live music, the charisma of the performers and all the bells and whistles of a pop stage. The choreography was intentional and it was so right, I feel that the choreographers really hit perfection with this in translating this particular song into a dance routine and live performance. Also I know Ola is a fan of Jimin and his parts and well frankly everything about this stands out more in the stage version. 💜

"Spring Day" was actually about the Sewol-Ho tragedy as BTS wished to leave the interpretation of the song. April 14, 2014, many students on a field trip loss their lives.[rip].🙏🏽.."Spring Day" is about loss of someone, the students & idols who took their lives because of bullying & depression.😢..This dance practice was for the stage, there is a movie video.💜..For meaning & understanding watch "Bookish Theories Explanation" video.💜..

Yeah, it's nice choreo created to express the song but maybe not the best to show for a dance practice. Because a lot of that was meant to show the space or reaching out which is showing the meaning of the song which is loneliness and longing. Not the greatest when analyzing strictly the dance. So that was a hard one for Ola.

@@Koko3op It may not be personal but as you said, we are all allowed our own opinions. I have no issue with someone expressing their opinions and my comment wasn't really supposed to be all that serious, but reading it back I can certainly see why it is being taken that way. Spring Day is a song that effects me personally because of how the members and fandom feel about it. Think of it as our pet, in a way. As I was watching this, I was thinking that one needs to see the actual performance to see the true beauty in it. There was not a lot of hard dancing in this and there was a lot of still moments so I understand why the reaction was the way it was. I would suggest that even if it is done on your own time to watch the MV and an explained video I think by X Celeste? The MV does not have dance but it is a beautiful video and the explanation of the theory and breakdown shows why it is such a loved song for Army and Korea. They put into song what they could not speak out loud and they knew us clever Army would know their message.

Spring Day talks about how to go on after the loss of a friend. It's believed RM wrote it after the Seoul Ferry tragedy where more than 300 high school students lost their life for following orders from the crew to stay on board while the ship was sinking. The choreography emulates the story with cherry blossoms falling down symbolising spring coming back and the members having the form of a ship towards the end. The MV is stunning and the choreography compliments its melancholic feeling. Spring Day has been trending on the Korean charts since its release in 2017, and it has never left. It's the Queen of BTS songs.
@Mary-cg1sl
@Mary-cg1sl 3 жыл бұрын
RM didn't write it after the ferry tragedy. It just so happened that the song came out just after or just before the tragedy and because of its message was widely played at the time because it matched the feeling in Korea at the time. Eventually, the song came to be associated with the ferry tragedy.
@nickismith8611

@@Mary-cg1sl um no that's not correct at all. the ferry tragedy happened in 2014 long before the song came out. there were symbols in the music video that led people to believe they were referencing the tragedy. please look into the event before correcting people about it
@asueta8528

@@nickismith8611 Exactly but the song was released on February 12, 2017 almost just a month before the Sewol was refloated (operations began on March 20 or 21 I think and arrived at port on March 31) and finally they could recover and return to their families the 9 missing victims. Of course it has never been confirmed that the song commemorates the dresses and their families (and very possibly never will be) but the theme, the feeling it conveys, the little details of the MV and the choreography almost speak for themselves.

@ipurpleu1668
@ipurpleu1668 3 жыл бұрын
@@nickismith8611 Just because they showed symbols and related the MV to the tragedy does not mean the song is based off it. Go and actually look at what RM and Suga have said about the song. The song itself is based off their own personal experiences. RM said he wrote it about friends that he miss (he even said he hopes people call up old friends after listening to the song) and Suga wrote the song about his old best friend (the same one he probably wrote Dear My Friend about). The MV was most likely connected to the tragedy, but the song is not.

Just read the channel comment. This dance practice represents roughly what they do live on stage. I think because Army's understand the meaning of the song, and because the meaning of the song is so powerful and important especially to Korean armies, the choreo on this song is extremely muted. This is to allow personal emotion to come to the fore during performances. That's my opinion, anyway. It's as if the dance was designed to be tears, rather than an entire face. Or maybe a better metaphor is thinking of the dancers as representing both the lost children and their grieving families. They come together briefly, and then part, and come together briefly, and part. Again and again. When they perform this on stage, Army emotions are fully involved. They fill in the choreography. This dance is a sketch of emotions. Army participates in each performance with full feeling, and that colors the performance with a sense of life and longing.

i can totally see how Ola didn't get (like understand what was going on) spring day from a dance perspective. the most important is the music is in korean and if you don't know/understand the music like what is being said then its hard to understand the dance as it is completely doing the storytelling and matches the lyrics ...perfectly! so Ola your all good, the full dancing bits that did happen he appreciated but the rest of the slow (acting) moments were lost which makes sense because that's not his area of expertise even with freaking opera the lyrics are available (normally shown) to the audience so they get the story...like do i understand Italian or French...no..and as such I miss important info to the opera's plot if I don't have that translation (or all the info)

I am seriously loving this channel and they way you appreciate the boys. Some background on this song that we ARMY refer to as “the Queen”, Spring Day - RM wrote it as a remembrance for those they miss. The dance is not done in the MV but is done on the stage and is a homage to those who lost their lives in the Sewol Ferry tragedy of 2016, includes hundreds of high school children on an excursion. In the dance you’ll notice they make various formations of a boat as well as being separated by a wall or other obstacle, depicting those who were never rescued and were left behind. The MV storyline is based on the book “The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas”. That’s a story about a Utopian society where all is well but is only this way because of the suffering of one child. Spring Day is very complex and well-loved and remains on the charts in Korea even til today. It’s brilliant writing, and brilliant story telling.
