I finally watched UNORTHODOX, a series from Netflix, and immediately wanted to make a react video. As an ex Catholic Priest that also ran away from my community, I immediately related to the story of Etsy, an ultra-Orthodox Jew. The series is inspired by the autobiography of Deborah Feldman of the same name.

I accidentally stumbled upon your channel. It's nice to see some bravery out there. I was a catholic and a trad (and even a sedevacantist) at some point. I have a degree in catholic theology. I was also a benedictine candidate. Fortunately nothing bad happened to me, but i lost my faith a bit over a 2 and a half years ago - my path to apostasy was an intellectual exercise but it took me a few weeks to be comfortable with calling myself an atheist or a non-believer. The town where i grew up is small and everybody knows everybody and i was always known as that devout kid who's gonna be a priest or a monk. but now, when that's not the case, it's so stressful coming back and maybe accidentally meeting people who still have some expectations of me (old people tend to do that - and they hang out in church - i set myself up lol). If i see someone whom i think i might have an unpleasant interaction with i literally turn around and walk away. Just the other day, one of my friends was talking to a guy from my old neighborhood (i maybe spoke 2 words with him in my life) and when my friend mentioned me he was like: "You mean that church guy?". So, my past still haunts me and your bit about uncomfortable interactions was very relatable.

Welcome!! I’m glad you stumbled in this direction. Lol Man, I can so relate. I too was the “church kid” and the “hope” of the church that I attended. It’s tough to see those people again. I have actually seen some parishioners of the parish here in Mexico, and they came up one by one to say hello and it was so awkward for everyone. (I wanted to just disappear). But in the end, it was ok. Anyway, thanks for reaching out! I hope to hear from you again. 😊

Dear Mister Francis Palmquist, (my comment is hidden ?) N°1 I am interested to know your opinion about becoming priest when we are gay ? Is it a good or bad idea ? What's your opinion about it please ? N°2 am I wrong to think that your religious superiors should have said to you : "as you don't live continence and chastity during those years of seminary, it learn to us that you don't have received from God the aptitudes to become priest, to be deprived of tenderness, orgasms and sexuality during the rest of your life. So go in the world to honor your God as a saint, but not by the way of being a priest ?" They are wrong to think that God have to give graces against nature. when we have a strong libido, when we have a lot of sexual energy, it is stupid to go in a way where sexual tentations are very strongs and where you don't have a wife to make love, have children and be happy that way or a very close friend who could give your affection and tenderness in a pur and chaste way. I guess your superiors doesn't know "Quam ingens" Instruction from the Sacred Congregation for the Sacrements 27 december 1930, and Magna equidem instruction from Sacred Congregation for the Sacrements 27 december 1955. Am I wrong to think that ?
