Loved hearing how you came back, but even better is the example of being able to show how seriously you once believed, really bought in, let it lead your life, and were still able to make it out and find the truth. even if the "suffering" is factual, it does not automatically entitle you to anything. Every human has suffered in some way or other. It comes from the basic condition where we have needs and wants that we have to address by whatever means appear available to us. Some humans are more successful with that situation than others. Those less so, are not necessarily in control of the same parameters that others seem to be. The strongest evidence for which is the phenomena where some are born into relative wealth and power and apparently never experience anything else. the part that is TRULY mystifying is how the latter cases also seem to self-perpetuate a profound attitude of entitlement. I can only conclude that they were raised to presume it. And it would follow somewhat, that in the practice thereof, there would also be an attitude that the rest of humanity however visible to such people ARE NOT thusly entitled. And whatever belief-system goes with it, would justify that attitude since even the rich and entitled want to believe somehow that they are provably correct about their attitudes.

even when dealing with rigid ideologues (which I do kind of frequently in my online manifestations) I do try to adhere to a general practice of NOT claiming to have any authority to reject someone's indicated "direct prior experiences". I Might instead try to suggest OTHER WAYS OF CHOOSING TO INTERPRET THEM. But I cannot ethically presume any inherent authority by which I might do that, nor claim to possess any brilliantlly insightful mastery of "appropriate context" either.

Kristi, just listening to your laughter as you responded to so many points brightened my day and made this video one of the most enjoyable yet. Hearing the disbelief in your voice, as you even laughed at your old self and old beliefs, was really refreshing. IMO that’s one of the reasons I think people are drawn to your content. The way you laugh as you make these videos is so different from any other online atheist creators I can think of. I decided atheism was for me when I was about 8, I was extremely fortunate to have great parents who let me choose, clearly there are many more less fortunate than me. He's the creator and author of that person's life, and as such, has full rights over that life. As much as we might not like it, it's His perfect right to take someone's life at any point. None of us are promised a life span of however long we want. Some get 2 years, some 12, some 52, some 82. It's in God's hands how long our life is because He's the one who created our life.

Leviticus 25:44-46 And before you tell me that slavery was really indentured servitude paying off a debt, then why are there different words for the occupations 'Hired servant' and 'Bond servant'? Not only that, why are they treated differently? The verses before the ones I've listed say to not treat a hired servant like a bond servant. I want to thank you for your channel and your videos. They have helped me so much in my deconstruction journey. I started to question my beliefs when I read the Bible and saw how conditional God’s love is and started to questions his motives. All i got from the church were the same answers i hear you talk about. I wasted 3 years of my life in the evangelical church. I hurt alot more people with my religion than anything. I see that now. I almost ruined my relationship with my soulmate because i was told i cant be with a non christian or marry anyone again because i have been divorced. Like ive said alot, im done slitting my wrists for “Gods glory”. I was just a devoted and sincere as any one. I was an apologist and missionary for Calvary church. I had a testimony like everyone else. Just being a good person and going to church every Sunday was not enough for me. I went deep in my relationship with God and was so devoted. But when i started to question why i was putting myself through suffering because of “Gods glory” and what people in the church told me how i should be living my life. I came to the conclusion that God is either really cruel or that he isn’t real. I haven’t landed on if he is real or not. But i refuse to believe in the God of the Bible anymore. I hope to find a new community as my old family in the church starts to cut me off. Call me an apostate thats fine. I deserve to live my life and find happiness. If God’s glory requires my suffering then that’s really awful…

I remember in my Catholic school, we watched a video where he went out and interviewed people about abortion and he was praised by my teacher but this same guy has said many times that Catholicism isn’t the answer and that the pope is wrong yet in my school, we’re taught that Catholicism and conformation is the dominion that will lead to Heaven. Although my neighbors are mostly elderly and religious, they're all nice people for the most part. The elderly couple across the street even had a Be Kind yard sign out this year. This is despite the fact that I live in a very heavily conservative town. It seems that if they have any negative feelings about my rainbow flag, they kept it to themselves since I am a nice quiet neighbor that rescued a house on their block from sitting on the market for a while after the previous owner passed. Our morality is determined by how we behave - not what we call ourself or who we are. In fact how we behave DETERMINS who we are in a moral sense. The ultimate sense. This applies to any alleged deity as much as it does to any human being. Look at the way God sent ten plagues to Egypt - slaughtering and traumatising many many people who were not responsible for the Pharoah's stubbornness. Including first born children. How would you feel if that was one of your children? Would you then reject God and end up in hell? All God needed to have done was to freeze the movement of all the Egyptians so they were routed to the spot while the Israelites got away. The God of the Old Testament is not the same as the Jesus in John's Gospel. He is not uniquely good even by our "depraved" standards. Rather he is ultimate Dad. Sometimes gentle and nurturing but much of the time wrathful and vengeful. And sometimes genocidal. If you want to convert people to your line of thinking you need to explain why God's behaviour is morally acceptable - not just assume it is because he is God. People are sinners but they are not all fools. They may be filthy rags but they know - through human examples how self righteous tyrants behave. And they compare human tyrants to the old Testament God. Also it is silly to quote a book to the people you preach at that they do not believe in. You will just make them more stuck in their stubborn ungodly ways.

I had a Christian tell me recently that the reason people suffer is because of their sin. And children suffer because of their parents' sin. I couldn't help but wonder what sin I had committed as I stood in front of her, providing her, as an immigrant, free interpreting services while I suffered from debilitating health issues. Oh the irony.

I believe that the God of this Bible is either The fallen Angels & Lucifer making themselves our God and ruler, because they were supposed to have been cast down to earth and were never taken out of here, in fact I think that their being cast out of heaven was because they made man according to what image they wanted man to be. With love and respect, I like to say that we are sinners even though we sometimes unseen it, can we all be 100% genuine to the person we don't know, now another point is that we are carrying debts of our ancestors, If my ancestors have debts to someone, I gotta pay it , it's not forgiven In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve sinned by denying God's word, and as their predecessors we are carrying the sin, We are sinners, can we love another human being whom we don't know or have any relationship and die for them, we divide ourselves, we put levels to us, we give reasons and meanings to our morality, but think about it, without God there's no absolute morality, Without God every thing is just an opinion and everyone is right Me feeding an homeless people or hurting him is same because at the end we all are going to the fertilizer pit, there's no consequence If we are related to animals, like why animals suffer they don't sin, Come on now, our intellect and theirs are totally different, If we go by the apex predator theory, and there's no one to judge me after my death and this is one life and that's it, then if I am physically, financially strong, I can persecute someone weaker than I am, I can bend the law with money But I know that there's God and he will judge me, and I have consequences to face for my own moralities, I don't try to do things deliberately knowing that will or may lead to sin And God do care about us, that's why He chose people to spread his words and through those words we could know him, but if we people killed his prophets, so many, that God chose to judge us, You know we try to put God in a box We think there's no creator, we are just an accident My experience in life tells me that everything effect has reason and behind reason there's a complex intellect, a mind Our order & design of a human body and consciousness do have a creator, it cannot be an accident Like behind every painting there's a painter Mankind was not made in Genesis more than once but was cleansed because mankind was doing ungodly things, unholy things, read the scripture skeptically I too was an atheist but Lord saved me, I transformed myself in evidence and in faith. One last thing, if you guys feel that something bad is happening to you or your loved ones, how can you say what is happening is bad, because it's just an accident, don't cry for the loved ones when they leave accept that one day everyone must die and move on If there's bad, there's also good God only can define the Good

I refuse to speak with Christians about the Bible anymore because they will always differ to their evangelist script. As a recovering Christian I am familiar with the way they avoid conversation that requires honesty outside of their religious scripts. Because if that I refuse to have dialouge with them.

I was having a conversation with someone the other day who, instead of responding to what I was actually saying and having a conversation with me, they simply preached. When called out they said “I preached and you didn’t listen”. It’s like the point slaps them directly in the face and they still don’t notice.

Congratulations upon being noticed by an apologist with a million viewers. I appreciated how you pointed out how the word “good “ is used differently by apologists when they talk about god versus about when they talk about people. Ray does exactly what other apologists do-they do not actually listen to what atheists say. I am sorry to hear about how you used to put yourself down and that you were not a worthy person. Everyone is, in my opinion, worthy of value-even people who have different opinions than me.

Thank you so much for the work you are doing! As a former christian now atheist who is stuck living in the bible belt of America, the No True Scotsman fallacy has been lumped on me more times than I can count, and disingenuous persons like Ray Comfort are on nearly every street corner. Because of you and those like you, I'm able to keep my sanity, answer the questions and accusations of apologists with patience and moderation, and not become the "Angry Atheist" that they want me to be SO BADLY. Keep up the good work!

@@ryanhollist3950Well that’s a slippery slope. If everyone had their “own idea of God that they liked” this world would be a living hell. And assuming truth is subjective, then how could everyone’s idea of God exist? 100% most peoples god would contradict another god that somebody else believes. Some may believe in a god who says vengeance is good and another says vengeance is bad. One says murder is okay because you want it and another says the opposite. And assuming that each God is true, this would be impossible. There needs to be a common creator. That’s just a slippery slope
