Financing a RV is not different from financing a vehicle or home. Do your research ahead of going to a dealer, determine your best financing deal and compare to dealer option. Of course, first determine what you can afford. No different with buying a car. A financing broker is more convenient, but the $ value depends on the BUY rate versus the rate you would be paying. The interest rates may be higher but the process is the same. Buyers better understand depreciation. Some manufacturers may offer their captive lender arm. Lenders always are lookng to manage risk exposure.

Great video & great information. I think some financiers are not interested in getting the buyer the best Tate and some maybe don’t even know to look for the best rate. I also think many buyers don’t know what questions to ask and assume the seller will do good. One month ago I went with my brother to get financing for a private sale TT. While there I learned that when a lender does a “hard credit check” it lowers your credit score. They did not say how much points. This INTORV service could be very valuable just learning what questions to ask. I have not heard of this service unti this video. Thank you ERV you did good.

Great video guys. I once had a dealer said to finance my new motorhome that the interest rate would be 7% but if I was to buy into their extended warranty I could get a interest rate of 6% so it was like getting the extended warranty for free that I would be stupid if I didn't do the deal. (2019). I have one question for the finance guy. Is the interest rate different for different classes of RV's, example Motorhome would;d be a higher interest rate than a travel trailer?
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
I hate hearing this! It’s actually illegal to tie product to a rate, and reality is they just decreased their rate markup to get the product profit instead. Interest rates don’t necessarily tie to the RV class, but the dollar amount does influence the rate which of course certain classes land in higher or lower brackets.

You get upside down fairly quickly the way RV s depreciat
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, this is more common than it should be especially after the pricing inflation the industry went through over the last handful of years! Because we consult along the way we express heavily different options and angles for consumers to consider, where a traditional dealer only cares to write the loan as quickly as they get an approval.

I had the same thought. Is the rate also contingent on age of the RV
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
For diesel motorhomes, top tier buyers can receive financing as far back as 20 years with some of my lenders. For gas motorhomes and towables however, lenders tend to stay within 8-10 years old on average. As far as rates, there are some lenders who charge an increase in interest rate based on age and others who don’t. Those up charges vary which is why knowing each bank’s playbook while consulting is more important than ever for the best interest of our clients!

Do someone financing on a RV that is over a certain age have a higher interest rate? I heard a salesman tell an older couple that it's harder to get them approved.
@EndlessRVing4 ай бұрын
not sure but that is a great question for Chris
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
It’s true there may be certain lenders with a rate adjustment when it comes to age; however, not all have those adjustments. Some are minimal and some may be more of an increase. Knowing the lender policies and guidelines is key. If you overheard a salesman saying it; it’s likely they only were sharing the part most beneficial to their pitch rather than actual lender policies or guidelines.

I say yes to doing more vids like this, but please don't stack questions.. MJ you asked a question then immediately getting izzy with it asked a question about selling your house, how will affect/effect your chances of getting a loan... I plan to sell my house and go FT in a 5th wheel but should I get the 5th wheel first then sell? I don't think the guy fully answered that question... or am I missing something?
@just.bob.j4 ай бұрын
What are the fees for his services? Is it a flat fee or does he get a % of the loan?
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
Loan origination fees vary between $499-899 which can be financed in or paid in cash at closing. If it’s a private party transaction most lenders require a collateral inspection that costs $249 but it’s bank dependent. All consultation and pre closing is done at no cost regardless of what happens!
With high interest rates is there places out there that you can refinance a loan for a motorhome when the rates drop?

Why is it taboo to buy with cash?
@EndlessRVing4 ай бұрын
Depends on interest rates. For example if you are paying 3.25% like we did on our loan it makes more financial sense to pay the lower interest rate and invest the cash into markets that will yield avg 10-18% returns on investment. When interested rates are low it makes sense to use debt.

We were thinking about buying an RV from a dealer and planned to pay cash. They offered us a discount if we financed it and said we could just pay it off after 6 months. Is this common?
@IntoRV_Recreational_Financing4 ай бұрын
It is extremely common. Dealers do get a good kick back from the lenders which varies between each one. With them offering a discount it’s typically always a minimal amount compared to what the lender will pay them. You’ll want to consider the cost of financing over the 6 months versus the discount. An amortization schedule will tell you how much interest versus principal is being paid with each payment and you can then weigh that into your decision of what to do next. Of course, this is also your loan and not the dealers; they can recommend and ask that you don’t pay it off for 6 months, however the decision of when to pay off is yours entirely.
