Hey Larry, I knew this guy who went to my middle school and high school. He wasn't my friend but he was just someone I knew. And now he has been sentenced for 30 years in jail. Crazy how people from my former middle school and high school ending up in jail for years.

That advise to prison guards was the exact advice I got when I started as a CO: Treat the inmates with respect and never forget that despite what they may have done, they are still human. I pass that on today. This guy was one of the good ones clearly.

Love to see men like Garry turn around. I was looking at 22 years at age 15. I got 3. Worst juvenile prison in my state. I was beaten daily, had to join a gang. It was horrible. We need full on prison reform. The current system doesn’t work. It makes the bad worse and the worst even more horrible. It’s rife with corruption as you can see. Please folks. It’s up to us to change it. It’s a horrible combo of crony corporations and government mushed together.

I like this guy Gary. I'm in Jacksonville, I get where he's coming from since Florida has a number of correctional institutions. He's a decent guy with a hustle on the side; it's for money, that's why most legit people get caught doing something unexpected. Money. The lack of. I got respect for both these guys coming from both sides, they did their hustle and got caught. So what. They did their time, learned what they did wrong and not to do it again. I have some friends that did some some small time. They knew how to respect another person....far more than all my other friends. Conversations were deeper and carried weight. No one ever let me down or betrayed me that had done some time. They always offered help when they even suspected that I needed it. None of my other friends cared to look out for me that same way. Some stayed connected to risk......and I was happy to mind my own business....but Good guys. This vid reminds me of those friends. It was a good watch.

Living in a small town here in western Washington where the induction prison for the whole state is. I know and have known a lot of the guards and you guys are right about respecting others. My wife worked there for a time also plus I have some good friends that I consider family serving time. There are a lot of good stand up people inside those walls that make for good friendships. Gary is an honorable man and he does deserve a good normal life. His attitude is spot on about him not being any better or any worse than the majority of people serving time. To bad people like him aren't more influential on how our prisons are ran. Thanks for the video Larry and I hope we can hear from Gary some more.

Larry in your older videos reading the Gangster Redemption series you mention that at one prison you would make pasta and sometimes the breaker would trip and you said "if you had cool guards or knew one of them they would switch it back on for you" and in this video Massey just said that was him! As a kid, my Mom worked her whole career as a corrections officer at the county juvinal facility. So obviously I knew from the get go that Corrections officers were people, real people not just cops. Later, my step- father AND my younger brother were also Corrections officers at two different State corrections facilities. I ended up being a crook myself, and thankfully I somehow managed to keep out of doing "hard" time, as in prison, but did a fair bit of time in the county jail on the installment plan, the longest stretch being a year, which definitely sucked, but my desire to overcome my problem with drugs finally helped get me out of that cycle of in/out in/out. I owe everything to my Faith in Jesus Christ and thankfully I haven't spent a night in jail in over 15 years now. I still deal with substance abuse issues, as that's a lifelong thing, but I haven't drank in over 7 years, kicked heroin and the rest about the same...as Marijuana is Legal in my state, I manage to mitigate my addiction with that and have managed to maintain a reasonably healthy and respectable life. Love this channel and appreciate Larry and his wonderful guests like this guy, and hope their message of making good choices, in order to avoid the mistakes they did. If anything I wrote helps that's a big bonus too. Stay off drugs, Don't Rob folks, be kind and stay out of trouble....unless you LIKE living like a stinky sardine stuffed in a cell with three dudes and a toilet 23/7. Ya, let that picture sink in a little.;?)
