DANG! My boat cost me 6000$CAD (or I guess around 4500$USD?) and it's a very random company (Astroglass 154v, which is now Astro), it needs much love in the gauge department and carpet, plus the motor was "Meh". It was a 140 v4 Evinrude 1988, but the boat's limit was 100hp... luckily floor and transom is still good. I gotta get rid of it though as I need to pay my house loan and recently lost my mother, it s***s cause I haven't went fishing in the last 10 years by myself and its my therapy. Your entire setup (if we forget the USD to CAD conversion) cost as much as what the motor alone would cost around here... by itself ! that's crazy to think how cheap the USA bass boat market is compared to the Canada.

You didn’t spend too much. Look at what you get to look at after you did it yourself. That boat is nice and better than these new bass boats that’s anywhere from $25000-as much as you wanna spend. Looks great man. Hell if you’re gonna only sell it for that I’d take it

I know eventually I’ll have to do a total restore on mine. I know that with a possible floor replacement in one spot, wet sand, carpet or SeaDek, and even an upgraded (newer to me) motor, I would still come out better than buying new. Mine is an ‘89 and luckily she’s still in great shape. Everything works-troller, current motor, pumps, etc… I could use some updated electronics.

Yeah been trying to convince the wife to let me do some work to my 88 bumble bee. It is only 15.6ft long and has a 70 evinrude on it. I am lucky though as the floor is solid as well as the transom. Motor run good for an 88 2 stroke. Sometimes I have to convince it that it should run but once it gets going it seems to run good. Right now though it gets me on the water and i was able to repair the trolling motor. It does not leak at all so overall it's a decent boat that I don't have a payment for.😃 My wife says it runs and floats so what more do you want?. LOL Great job on the boat. I think you may be underestimationg the value of it especially with a new motor and floor.

Dude. I purposely bought a junker as my first boat. So i can learn how every is put together and how it works and how to fix it. Also, I need to worry less as i learn how to put it in the water and how to operate it. Everything i put in it transfers to the next boat. Few things i made sure of first. It was aluminum brand name and motor was solid. Will do a quick video on the water next time i manage to escape the jungle

@KoShuFW Жыл бұрын
@sharonbraselton4302 why not? I did and it is fun. Never buy it if you do not have means to fix it, that is true.
@KoShuFW Жыл бұрын
@sharonbraselton4302 so it looks like this is of interest to people. When i looked at the boat and rv market, i learned one thing. You must be either incredibly lucky or wealthy in order to own one and have no problem with it even if you buy it brand new. So unless i have all day every day to spend on my boat, it is absolutely cheaper to rent or charter one instead of buying a new or newish boat. Everything else, you must assume that no matter how well you check, one of the big items will need to be fixed. Also, all electronics on the cheaper older boat will be old crap you are not going to truly enjoy. So far, i am lucky with the engine overall. The hull seems ok with one leaky engine mount bolt. Blew out hub on the trailer, so I will learn to fix it now. And all this cost me so far 2600$. Tell me, what is the tax on a brand-name aluminum 17' boat with 70hp motor and no fishing electronics? I am in the process of adding new wiring and gages, all ordered with proper marine grade parts at $300. $1000 on a nice 10" sonar w navigation. 200$ so i can connect sensors to the sonar unit or digital display. Later i will decide on kicker motor or electric trolling. But if i get in trouble 1. I will know how to get out of it 2. It will be my fault 3. It will not cost me anything i can not afford to just lose. And i do not look like a moron with an expensive boat who doesn't know how to back it up to the launch.

You are doing a good job on the video editing and overall setup. I am guessing the channel will continue to grow. I watched the video yesterday and don’t remember if you commented on the gel coat and wrap. What did you decide? Is it going to be a wrap (hot pink) after the season? I just bought my first GoPro with a Yolotek Navpro and a DJI Mini 3 pro. Unfortunately, I have not used them on my Walleye/ salmon boat yet. Insane summer so far with other projects.
@Megellin Жыл бұрын
I can see doing it fast and spending the money for the KZbin thing, but for your own personal boat you would have been a lot better off slowly catching really good deals during the off season when people get tired of their stuff and put it on sale places like fb marketplace. It all comes with experience though so no threat just keep up the good work and you will learn the when's, what's, and how's to look for as you go!

Hi, Boats are expensive and maintaining them afloat is expensive too. Considering the fact that the original engine was not reliable and you had to buy another one, I don't think you spent too much. You did a full refit, everything is new and clean onboard. It's almost a new boat. Of course she's not petfect, but will you find the "perfect" boat someday? Do you think this "perfect" boat even exists? I have an old boat myself. She's not perfect either. I wish she has more seats, more lockers, a larger cockpit, an electric motor for the anchor, a head and why not a nuclear powered engine 😉 But someone told me someday the best boat is the one we own, the one we use and the one we can afford. I think that's true. Enjoy your boat, boating and fishing. But if you don't know how to spend the long and dull winter days,, feel free to restore another boat, your followers will love watching you working on this new project!

@chrisprieur270 Жыл бұрын
Cost-wise I don't think you're upside-down on that boat. However, being rated for a 200hp it would be hard to sell. That said, that XR6 is probably closer to 175hp than it is 150hp so you got that going for you. It was either Mercury's answer to the Fast Strike or the other way around...can't remember but it's a HOT 150.
