I don’t think you need to lay it all out the way Dr. Ellis does here necessarily, but at the very least an acknowledgment of “I also do microneedling or Botox or fillers or whatever” is warranted. We see a ‘standard’ that is unattainable for the majority of people - which can crush self esteem - especially the young girls growing up now with these lies absolutely everywhere they look.

I understand what you mean, but from my own experience no matter how "natural" it looks , I can see when somebody had something done,. The more mature the easier we can notice. Something about body language and overall look that's a tell-tale about something is not agreeing in the overall look. That being said it doesn't mean that we should not improve your look if it bothers us, but I don't believe that cover up our age necessarily. I’m over 50 and had filler injected into my nasolabial folds, but it caused that part of my face to sag, making me look older. Despite attempts to dissolve the filler, the result still isn’t good, and I have a lump under my skin. The person who injected me was a trained RN with over 10 years of experience in fillers and Botox. I recently watched a plastic surgeon who explained that this can happen. He said fillers can weigh the face down and he was right. I will never get fillers again! It has worsened the appearance of my face.

My goodness, you’re the Dr. and who wants to go to one that first isn’t honest and second one that doesn’t care just do what the patient wants and get them out of here. Sadly there are Dr’s who do this. I worked for a urologist for many years and sadly he would get patients who went to a non specialist to have various surgeries done like a hernia and he would have to go back in and fix the problem. He was the absolute best doctor and I’m not just saying that, he really was. He was so busy because he was such a great doctor and person. Ok I see some signs of aging now, but I look with curiosity, not criticism. Are we being conditioned to be ‘imperfect’, needing to be ‘fixed’ or ‘beautified’ ( because it feeds the economy)? Or, maybe I’m ’old- fashioned’? 🤔

@samarittan93082 ай бұрын
Yes, we have been conditioned as a culture to accept only youth as beautiful. The majority of men consider older women less desirable than younger women. Thus we spend billions of dollars and risk our health frantically trying to gain the approval of men. And before you say that it isn't true, "I do it for myself" . Please try to ask yourself why this makes you feel better? Most likely you'll come to the conclusion that it's because you have subconsciously internalized society's message that your value is based on your youthful appearance. Rejection of our appearance as we age is really a result of external pressure on us. It takes a brave woman to age gracefully.

I think as you get older you feel more comfortable with yourself and then you realize that your skin is not cooperating and that’s where Botox comes in I’m a very animated person and unfortunately that had caused major lines in my face and aged me 10 years so for me, it’s totally worth it. I never thought I would do it but I’m so glad I do.
@KariVance66Ай бұрын
You could say it’s yet another form of oppression for women. You don’t see men doing this (generally speaking).. do ya?? Of course not. Because we are told youthfulness is superior to an ‘aging’ face. Why?? It’s sad really. I’m 58 and I am certainly not wrinkle free. To me it’s a waste of my energies, my focus in life and portrays a non authentic face to the world. I am aging and grateful for that! I’d rather focus outward at other things.

One of your best videos yet!! I literally had my first round of Sculptra this morning at 60 yoa. I was a nervous wreck, but my injector was fantastic! She put numbing cream first, then used lidocaine with the Sculptra product and I had very minimal discomfort and I'm a wimp! Im scheduled for round two in 7 weeks and now I'm not nervous for it. She used a canula for the Sculptra. She used two vials today, but may only need one the next time. I'm having one or two more treatments, depending on the look I'm going for. I just want to naturally look my best and I hope this will achieve my goals without a facelift. Once the Sculptra is completed, we'll discuss very little filler in my nasolabial folds and some minimal lip filler to smooth out my lips and lines. I'll then get my Sculpta maintenace once a year, and of course continue Dysport a couple times a year. Any other mature ladies have success with Sculptra? Wish I was more educated and had the money to do this stuff at a younger age. Thanks Dr. Sam!

I'm just a few years younger than you, and I love Sculptra! I started with 2 vials last November and then had two more appointments (spaced out about 8 weeks apart) of 2 vials each. I was concerned about marionette and nasiolabial folds as well as some hereditary jowls that were starting to form. My injector (I see a PA) said replacing volume had to start at my temples and then go across my cheeks, which would then provide lift to help alleviate those issues. And it's worked! Even now, quite a few months after my last appointment, I still feel like my face is lifting ever so slightly and my jowls are continuing to dissipate. And the added volume is very subtle and doesn't look like something foreign in my face -- because it's not, as it's my own body's collagen. I will follow my PA's recommendations for Sculptra maintenance, which will likely be a vial or so every year. I still love me some Botox, but my Sculptra results have just blown me away.

I started getting Botox and filler at 47. Really just to correct asymmetry and a heavy brow that stands out on camera/Zoom. I’ve been happy with the results and no one but me knows. I look like myself, but rested. An interesting tip my injector pointed out is that for people who don’t others to know they have had injections, she goes very light on crows feet, in general, because it’s one area that can “give it away” if someone has Botox since once most people are in their 50’s they have some crows feet, no matter what. I took pictures of myself as a teenager to my consultation and the injector said that was helpful.

Dr. Sam, question... I recently started getting my platismyal muscles treated with Botox, however, she only injects the bands (2 on each side) and not above on the jawline like you demonstrated. Could you explain how that affects the area differently? I want to get the full jaw lifting/sharpening effects. This video is FABULOUS, by the way. 🤩 THANK YOU‼️
@julierose66523 ай бұрын
Oh yes. I really want the same explanation. I get my bands done as well but not my jawline.

This was so interesting to watch, thank you! I think I get about the same areas done every 6 months or so with jeaveau. I'm very happy with the results it gives me. I've also done my masseter and it made my cheeks a wee bit deflated. People kept asking me if I lost weight because of that which I didn't lol. You look amazing!

How much does it cost to put the amount of filler that you use in your face if you want a demonologist so as a customer? XX - love the authenticity

Very, very interesting. I didn’t realize how much could be done with Botox to beautify, and not just relax the skin. I learned a lot today, thanks! It was very good of you to make this video and educate us, even though you know you’re going to get flack from many people.

Mad respect for you. I don't know you I've never watched your videos I just happened to stumble on your Channel. First of all you are extremely smart. I don't mean just necessarily book smart. The way you communicate I can tell you have some common sense. You seem also very personable. This is one of the best videos I have seen about botox. Good for you keep up the good content. I wish I lived closer to you you would definitely be on my list of doctors. And trust this I am extremely picky. The fact that I'm even leaving a comment is a rarity. I usually only leave a comment when I have something to say.

Thank you for doing this video. Please don’t let any negative comments prevent you for going into such topics in detail. Because those of us here to learn appreciate the deep dives. Also, could you please do a video in what type of zinc to take, when and how for extending Botox results. That Short on this was such a teaser. It sent me down the rabbit hole and I tested it prior to my injections. But curious if I did it right. 😘

Thanks for your honesty. What are your thoughts on fillers blocking the lymphatic channels and never fully dissolving? Is it true that Botox can cause bone loss?

I did the sculptra ones below my cheeks because I lost a lot of weight for my wedding, and the pain of the needle going through and under the skin was the worst of my life. Even with local anaesthetic! Worse than a nipple piercing. 0/10 recommend. Won't ever do it again. How that gets administered is so radically different in pain levels compared to botox feeling like a second-long pinch. Thanks for the video, love your content!

As a registered nurse injector I was so excited to hear your input and learn where you've had your injections! You look amazing and I totally agree with your philosophy. I always tell my patients that the best injectable is undetectable. There are so many beautiful and natural-looking people with filler but you'd never know- unfortunately we only detect filler in those who are overdone.

So, I know someone who had botox in their neck, and it turned into a nightmare. She couldn't swallow, couldn't talk, it was really scary. Later on we learned that sometimes people end up in the hospital on feeding tubes until it goes away. So my advice to viewers of this is to make SURE your doctor knows what they're doing.

This makes me so much less apprehensive about injectables. Thanks giving an example of what someone might get! Please tell us other ways people use injectables even if you personally don’t. Also, how to know when something is really only addressable with surgery . . . and then a series on what surgeries are available 😆. I literally only know the term facelift, and no idea what that really is.
