I’m lucky enough to have Dr Ellis as my cosmetic and medical dermatologist. I’m 54 years old, and Dr Ellis has been doing my botox and fillers for almost three years now. She makes me look my best while still looking like “me” … but ten years younger 😊 Thank you Dr Ellis for another great informative video, you are the absolute best! 💖

Thank you for taking the time to film such an informative video. At 53 years old, I thought that I knew everything about Botox. Your video taught me a few things about my smile, natural frown, and dimpled chin. As a previous commenter asked, "What questions do we ask to ensure that we are seeing an experienced injector"?
@DrSamEllis
@DrSamEllis 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! I think asking an injector questions is a challenging way to assess whether or not they are actually good. However, feeling comfortable when talking to them in general, and feeling like your concerns are heard and that you both have aligning goals for your treatment is important. Although this can be tricky, I think the best way to find an injector is through trusted word-of-mouth. There is no substitute for seeing someone’s work in person.

Thank you so much @DrSamEllis for this extremely informative video on Botox. This was great. I’m 60 & have never had any cosmetic procedures done. However, I do have a little bit of the frown face but I think 2 things caused this. One thing I noticed was when I fell flat on my face on concrete. I broke my nose. I noticed when my nose got larger after being fractured the skin started pulling away from my nose making nose to mouth lines more prominent especially on one side. I’ve also lost volume b/c my temples are hollow. Menopause didn’t help matters. I have neck bands too. Thanks again.🙌🙌🙌🙌❤

Jelly rolls,bunny lines, and Barbie tox. I had no idea but I don’t know much obviously about Botox. Good for anyone who wants to do it! Myself no never and I can say never. I know they say never say never. I’ve only had two surgeries in my life, and they were medically imperative, to save my life and I’m 58 years old I’m fine with the way my skin looks. I could never just voluntarily do that especially with some of the side effects, but thank you for the information Dr. Ellis as always love your posts and your skin care PREQUEL is lovely!❤

I agree. I have chronic illnesses and for me any medical procedure must be absolutely medically necessary to balance the risk. My mentalis dimpling when I contract it doesn't make the cut! Add in the fact that these procedures must be repeated in order to maintain the effect, and that there is a small but real risk every time injections are done (no matter how competently). That risk stacks up. Thanks but I'll stick with sunscreen + hat, skincare, and a healthy lifestyle.

I’ve been having the usual ‘3 areas’ of Botox for quite a few years, and occasionally for in my masetero for teeth clenching, but I hadn’t realised just how extensively Botox can be used. I would love to see a video on treatments for people in their 60s and beyond. what works on older skin…Botox, filler, injectable hylauronic acid, micro needling with and without RF etc. There seems to be a lot of information for people in their 40s and 50s but not so much for 60s and beyond. Thank you again for a great channel. I am now going to binge watch your videos. 😊

An NP in Sandusky, Ohio injected Botox in my forehead so much that my eyebrows were high like a 1950s film star. However, the frown lines between my eyebrows were still prominent. I went in specifically to address these frown lines. She didn’t even study my face before she started injecting. She just said, lay your head back and she started injecting my forehead. She was rude and unapologetic. Didn’t even wipe my forehead with an alcohol swab before she started. I tried to explain that I did not want raised eyebrows but she just got angry. Someone like this NP should not be in medicine.

Out of all the places listed, what are the hardest/ highest risk spots to inject? What questions should we ask to know if someone is a good injector?
@DrSamEllis
@DrSamEllis 5 ай бұрын
I would say the “ highest risk” spots are anywhere in the lower face because of the overlapping muscles there, and actually the forehead because it’s very sensitive/finicky and people can easily get an asymmetry or unwanted brow heaviness. I don’t think there are any particular questions that really help illuminate whether or not an injector is good, it’s more about the overall feel you get when you are with them having your cosmetic consultation. You can always look at their credentials as well to get a better understanding of their background training. Also, I think any injector should be happy to see any patient back in follow-up if any issues arise after treatment.

Great video, very informative! Would you say there are any big differences in how long Botox lasts per area? I know overall it varies from person to person, but in general, do certain areas retain the effect longer? For example, crows feet vs forehead, platysma vs jelly rolls, elevens vs masseter? Or does each area last about the same amount of time for that specific person? Thank you!
@DrSamEllis
@DrSamEllis 5 ай бұрын
Much of the duration of Botox has to do with the dose used, and there are certain areas where you generally shouldn’t use high doses because it can change the aesthetic outcome. For example, in the forehead, we typically don’t use high doses because we don’t want to make someone’s brow or eyelids look or feel heavy. Therefore, many people will notice that their forehead Botox wears off faster than in other areas they got treatment. The same goes for around the mouth. We don’t want to use high doses there because we don’t want to affect the functional movements of the lower face so this may start to wear off a bit sooner. Otherwise most Botox last 3 to 4 months in the average individual. But I always remind my patients that every person is different and we need to meet them where they are at.

Are there any key questions to ask another doctor to know if they are good injectors? I had one injector recommend botox on the corners of my mouth because I mentioned it, but in your video it is saying that if you cannot pull your corners down you're not a good candidate. I couldn't pull my corners down the way you showed in the video so I'm unsure why the other injector didnt tell me that. She seemed really knowledgeable but now that I'm watching your video I'm questioning her knowledge on a few things. I wish I knew how to scout a good Botox specialist.

I don’t think they knew how to prevent that because it still happened and I haven’t had Botox in about 7 years because of it. My husband is getting it next week and I’m going with him to ask his doctor if he thinks he can do it without making my brow drop. Hopefully, he’ll know what I’m talking about. Is that something you would be worried about while treating younger patients?

It’s always something I think about but in reality over the thousands and thousands of people I’ve treated I can only think of a few who have ever developed resistance, and it usually does not have to do with starting Botox at a young age, but rather other immune factors that are at play within the individual.
