🍹Stan and Rhonda from Over The Hill Adventures take a different adventure and leave their RV behind. They wanted to do something special to celebrate Stan's 60th birthday. After a little mishap in June, they finally make it to their special celebration 6 months later. They board a plane and fly to Cancun, Mexico where they stay at an all-inclusive resort, Excellence Riviera Cancun, often referred to as ERC. They have big plans to visit Tulum, but an unfortunate event prevents them from leaving the resort; a blessing in disguise. 💸TIPPING ETIQUETTE: Tipping is an important piece of information to figure out before you go on your vacation so you don't have to worry about calculating it while you are there. Tipping for us was an opportunity to be generous and show our gratitude toward the excellent service we received while at ERC. We decided to bring pesos so the employees would not have to worry about exchanging their tips. We were able to receive smaller values and exchange dollars to pesos at the front desk.

Loved this video. My husband and I ( Celebrating our 5th Anniversary this month at 71 years young) went there for the first time in 2017 to Celebrate our Engagement. OMG 😮. We both were absolutely blown away. We stayed in the Honeymoon Oceanview Club VIP Suite ❤ with our own private pool area overlooking the ocean. Beautiful 😍 and the service was like nothing we’ve ever experienced. We’re finally going back next year to Celebrate Life Together and so very In Love Still. Thank you for the info on tipping because our first trip there it was not allowed, but we did anyway because we have the same mindset as you about being generous and grateful for what we have. ❤🎉😂😮😊. I still giggle and sometimes tear up when I think of our stay there because of its awesome atmosphere and staff. I hope it’s still as amazing as 8 years later when we finally go back. We are cruisers (84 under my belt) and Sandals Resort traveling seniors, but I will never forget the first time we drove up to that long entrance and our driver opened my door, handed me champagne 🥂 and ever so sweetly said “Welcome Home” even though we had never been there before. Then when we were escorted to our insanely huge beautiful suite, I just looked at my then fiancée and just started laughing and crying at the same time. Every day or time we walked back into our room it had the same effect on me. Now we are booked and have a little over a year to wait and it will feel like the first time all over again. BTW we booked the same exact room this time again. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ You two so so wonderful to watch, listen to and relaxing. Thank you so much for lifting my spirits in this absolutely crazy country right now, and I am so happy after your June experience sweetheart with your passport problems, that you carried on and went around Christmas time. Beautiful place, thanks for sharing! We have been out of the country one time on vacation, and that was a long, LONG time ago. We'll have to do a real vacation at some point similar to your Cancun trip. We tried to get the kids to go with us on a trip to Florida or a cruise this year, but we couldn't get an agreement on where to go...oh well, camping is a whole lot cheaper.

Hi Robert, You have seen beautiful places! And to be able to explore under the water surely adds to the beauty! We love snorkeling, but didn’t get a chance to do it this time around. We actually had plans to, but we had to cancel the excursion due to sickness 😞 Stan was actually pretty sick with a cold too so we were forced to relax; not easy for either of us. Claudia, It truly was a beautiful place! All the food and drink you want! We met several folks who make this an annual destination during the cold months in the upper states. We wanted to go to Tulum and see the Mayan ruins, but ended up never leaving the resort and that was ok with us. Always something to do or not to do 😉 No language barrier whatsoever! Their English was great!

Michael, We really enjoyed ERC too and the service was second to none! We were there in December as you saw and the seaweed wasn’t bad at all. They of course work hard to keep it cleared off the beach which made it even more pleasant. Thank you for your comment ☺️. ~Rhonda and Stan

There is too much sargassum and the bottom isn't very desirable to walk on out into the murky water. One lady stepped on a sea urchant hiding around the rocks as she entered the water at about 2 feet depth. She didn't see it because the water was murky.

We went to Cozumel a couple of years ago and could barely get into the water there because of the huge rocks. One lady broke her ankle. We had heard Cancun beaches were better, but apparently not??

If you watch our channel I am retired law enforcement. We felt completely safe. Security was incredible. When Rhonda and I had our dinner on the beach there was armed security in the dark along side of us. During the day we saw Federalies and local police on 4X4’s constantly patrolling the beach. Are the tours expensive?

Hi Kaitlyn, the tours prices vary. You can go to certain tour locations by bus, private car, and some even go in a taxi which we do not suggest. The more private the more expensive. I hope this helps. All in all the excursions are very reasonable. Stan and Rhonda. P.S. I would definitely book with the tour guides at the hotel they are much more reputable.

Hi Martha, We went directly through Excellence website. See link in the description. They are really great to work with. When I had to rebook due to my passport issue, they did it free of charge. Our flights we booked on our own through Southwest Airlines. Not sure where you are in the country, but Phoenix has a direct flight. Let us know if you have any other questions. Rhonda and Stan

Roger she had a passport card! That was valid for cruises just not flights. We made a simple mistake. Some folks don’t travel abroad. Nevertheless, God worked it all out for the good. Try being nice it might work for you. Stan and Rhonda
