Yeah I don’t get too bent out of shape when a single officer makes horrible choices against anyone (criminals and otherwise), since I can assume that the cop will be dealt with (either internally or in civil court, or by God eventually). But when you see cop after cop protecting each other and their department from the critical eyes of the public - that’s what turns cop supporters into cop skeptics. I don’t give cops the benefit of the doubt, that they will act morally, when they’re put in a position to choose between their own self interest and the interests of others. In other words, most cops will choose to go with acting the way they feel like acting, regardless of how it may impact civilians. They’ll all follow the law, as they see it, minus a few who blatantly break them, but most laws seem to appear to them like policies.

You've got to look at it from the other side too, there where actually good cops who stood up to try and do the right thing and look how quickly they were ostracized and turned into the red-headed step children of the department. I understand why good police don't want to speak up in situations like this if this is the retaliation they will receive. I think we need to do a better job as citizens to speak-up and show support when a good cops acts out of their own best interest in the pursuit of justice; because, thats how policing is supposed to be done. Then there is the person who leaked the video who is our baby (metaphorically speaking) and needs to be protected at all cost.
