the reason the text/font looks pixelated is because they were compressed from the original images (made on a pc) to save space in the N64's vanishingly small memory. the pixelation is a result of the compression algorithm, which converts those smooth gradients into blockier, less memory intensive gradients. you are totally right about asking "why didn't they just make it crisp instead". however, ironically, in order to do this, they would probably have to skip using images on the N64 (again because of space, though i am a bit skeptical and think it could still have been done easily with images since you're not in a 3d scene when in the main menu), and instead they would have to render the font as actual triangles on a plane, similar to the more modern svg format we have today. methinks the artists made some cool text images on their pc with gradients, and then disappeared to go work on some other project, and the programmers in charge said "ahhh screw it we'll just compress it", which as you mentioned, was less noticeable on 240p crt tv :)

Will do. I'm sure there's a good game in there if it's in that collection. Appreciate it

We love it when people find our channel. Admittedly, it's not for everyone.

Reviewing a N64 game on a Switch instead of an original N64, and then complaining about the controller? You should review the same game on original hardware to compare the experience.

As a huge n64 nerd and one of the best excitebike 64 gamers: The input translation on the virtual console wii u and switch ports means the controller actually is really bad; the n64 version is a lot better but as far as reviewing the switch controls they are too sensitive and difficult

It would be even easier for them to have simply chosen to use the official Nintendo 64 Bluetooth controller. It's made for Switch and also works with a BT adapter on the original console.

We really should. Unfortunately, I lost all of our old retro games and hardware in a freak situation when I was in my 20's. Repurchasing all these old games and systems would be so brutally expensive and outright irresponsible at this point in my life. Retro gaming is insane right now I was assuming it'd control accurately because every other game I've tried on the switch N64 collection was great, namely Fzero 64, and Wave Race since they are all racing games. Hell, even Mario 64 controlled a lot better than I remember I get it though I need to put in the description that we're just 2 simple brothers tying a few on, and having fun messing around with games we never got to play when we were kids.
