@silentplanet333Ай бұрын
I think Joker 2 is a masterpiece. The only flaw, in my opinion, is the abrupt and excessive insertion of content from the first movie. They could have worked more on the dialogue. However, I believe Joker 2 is a bold film that stays true to the character. I felt as though I was the Joker, gradually rediscovering my true self through the hypnotic music, step by step. Starting with resistance and silence, then trying to hide behind the Joker persona, and finally confessing in court. Yet, his life was a tragedy, and the misunderstanding of him by others led to the explosive courtroom scene (my favorite moment-it’s such a brilliant turning point), and ultimately, he was killed by Heath Ledger (because he carved a smile into his face). In the end, the Joker was never understood by society. I’ve thought about whether Lady Gaga’s presence and the integration of music felt too cheap-maybe it could have been replaced with dialogue. But I believe the Joker’s inner voice was well conveyed through the lyrics, making the entire movie feel like a solo performance on an imaginary stage, beautiful yet tragic. Since Lady Gaga represents the Joker trying to conceal himself, her insignificant role perfectly reflects this, showing that facing oneself is what the Joker truly needed.

I loved this film. I don’t understand all the hate. I went in expecting to be majorly disappointed, but continually found myself moved, disgusted and intrigued about this version of the Joker and Harley. It wasn’t a comic book film. That’s one of the things I loved the most about it. It was such a tragedy. Arthur was psychotic. But society turned him into the violent person he was as Joker. Both Joker films are about how utterly helpless the severely mentally ill and underprivileged are and how they’re constantly degraded and sidelined-left alone and expected to thrive. The films are about what a lack of empathy does to the most marginalized among us. Harley taking the role she did in this film was the only version of Harley that could have existed in this universe’s version of the Joker via Arthur Fleck. She ended up being a sick groupie who had absolutely zero interest in Arthur as a person, but whose ego and desire for a twisted celebrity persona drove her to further dehumanize the monstrous Joker that manifested himself to the world on Murray’s show. She was like a Ted Bundy fangirl, in love with the mythical monster. Arthur’s Joker was never the version of the Joker who could turn a professional psychiatrist Harley Quinn into a raving sycophantic criminal. The reversal, in terms of the power dynamic, brought new life and a new perspective to these characters. Bravo to the cast and crew. You made a masterpiece. I genuinely believe the world will come to realize it in time.

I don't understand the critics, probably it's not for everyone, hence so divisive. The acting was brilliant, the music was an expression of their feelings, it was a great portrayal of Arthur Fleck (not Joker) and he is like a symbol of all the socially excluded, bullied people in this world, naturally born good, but destroyed by family and society. Being bullied all along my childhood, I can relate so much to his anger and acting, it gave me chills and relived it all.

it’s just that the ending ruins it, it makes the plots pointless

@@leeleeman4678 The ending was as impressive as the whole movie, he just wasn't destined to be happy and feel whole. I saw the movie yesterday and can't stop thinking about it, brilliant acting.
@leeleeman4678Ай бұрын
@@monikab3413 hmmm I’m not sure I agree with that, it just leaves many plot points unanswered such as the state of the city, the trial, and it almost makes me question what was the point of Harley Quinn? Just for her to leave him, after joker realizes he can’t uphold that persona, I guess without no joker there is no Harley Quinn, but regardless the movie just has me mixed up on the feelings, I get what they could’ve gone for but it wasn’t executed right in the end, I liked it up until the ending

@@monikab3413 that’s what I mean about plot points be unwrapped, like really man, Harley Quinn continues to be pregnant with his baby? I feel like some of it was lazy writing or just not executed well

Ignore the haters if you like the first movie, I think Joker 2 is very flawed, but the hate is ridiculous. Joker 2 is far more interesting than like 80% of comic book movies.
