4 stroke turbos have a great reputation 4 reliability and speed! Cat sells everyone they make and I’m sure doo will too. Hopeful that Polaris builds one too 10,000 miles on my turbo kitty and still runs and looks great. Eats rough trail at 90 mph plus getting 15 mpg doing it!! I decided to change the spark plugs on it today and the originals still looked great

Ask him why do you need a smartphone hooked up to the dash on the sleds to run the GPS?? I was at Novi snowmobile show and was sitting on a Renegade 850 xrs, the reps were like what do you think, I’m like I love the sled, but I bought a VR1 Matryx, they asked why, when I asked about the dash needing a smartphone compared to Polaris they were silent, just stared at me, you could see in their faces they knew exactly what I was talking about and had no answer

The throttle control. They've know about it was a problem some 2019. And snowtrax's highlighted it back in your videos back in 2019. It just took longer to get it changed out. And for the mach the consumer can just buy decals. I don't see them coming out with the mach "name" next season but there well be a same featured sled to the mach just different name. Appears the TCat is keeping its crown. New York Drags (prob one of the most credible events) posting numbers and the Mach Z isn’t catching the 9000. 2/10th’s out @ 660. Box stock. I hear the 900 has less capacity for staging than the 998 too. Meaning a reliable 270+ HP may not be seen from the 900. I’m not sure if this is true or not. Time will tell.

That skidoo guy 1/2 of what he said on the engine and turbo i call BS ; bashing on yamaha because we all know that yamahas were 180hp advertised but 200ish dynoed , it was yamaha promise to the customer that in worst case scenario in the worst possible riding conditions the sled will not make less then 180hp , so what is yamaha are "under rated" so were the ford mustang cobra with dohc 4.6 terminator engine underrated for its power , woopie doo so basicly that skidoo guy is saying that its 180hp in average to best conditions of riding it ..... 2nd thing , the turbo story yes the maverick is 200hp claimed , but in snowmobile world that are meant and designed to run in cold/snow the cold air can work to your advantage by the intercooler is working less hard to cool the intake temp charge due to its already in a cold environment so it can be more efficient and smaller but the maverick utv is meant to run in a hot environment for the intercooler need to be bigger and work harder to be more efficent!!!.... also that engine 900t R 17.4 psi of boost at 180+hp at 17 psi on a modded yamaha 998 turbo 17 psi is darn close to 290 hp or around 10 ish psi on stock form at "180hp" 98cc will not make a huge power difference , back in the day with bolt on turbos on yamaha apex/nytro the recipe was 1psi =9hp , my thought on that engine is that how come it make the same boost as a modded 998 turbo in stock form? my money is on the yamaha engine for the long run due to alot less boost for same hp , also from very good source i know that 998 yamaha is a 300hp engine design but is seriouly detuned for the consumers!!! but id like to see skidoo push for that 900t R in other segments like in the 146/154 track length the technology of the 4 stroke turbo is that its cheap to get big power compared to 2 strokes! every one bashed on yamaha about the 4 strokes but im happy to see that skidoo jumped in the 4t turbo war because they saw the potential , id like to see polaris join the 4t turbo war with that rzr turbo engine!!

Great video guys. Question for you. Now with the new throttle block , it’s nice BUT I have noticed it’s not as stiff ( pressing throttle) as the 2strokes. Is there any way to make it have more resistance like the 850? Eg. Throttle spring on the ITC motor down below? Just like old carburetor cars , if you wanted heavier pedal feel , you’d put a bigger return spring on throttle linkage on carburetor.

Wouldn't mind an 900 ACE R as a power touring together with my Sidewinder, which I think still is the benchmark for 4-stroke turbos. A bit peculiar though, that everytime a SW or Viper is reviewed it's so much talk about the weight, but with the advent of BRP high output 4-stroke turbos, it doesn't come up. A Renegade with a 900 ACE Turbo is not a lightweight machine, right?

this will be a nice trail sled for doo gyes, but this is no lake runner , if anyone is thinking ull beat a winder stock for stock, nope , even if theres any stock winders out there!personally doo has had 6 years to build something to compete with a winder, this is a huge let down, they needed to set the bar higher
@tcbbct509
@tcbbct509 2 жыл бұрын
Think they're just more focused on the trail side of things and that's fine. A lot of people calling for a big lake sled from them but I wonder how many are going to actually go out and spend 25ish grand on buying it brand new? Every manufacturer used to make at least one candidate for king of the lake and many of them had more than one option in that category. There's a reason these types of sleds are becoming more rare. New sleds have gotten pricey and very few people can justify paying as much money for a toy as they would for a 2 or 3 year old mid range car or truck. If all it took was slapping a big triple under a slightly larger hood things would still be like they were in the 90s and early 00s.
@pavmentsurfer13
@pavmentsurfer13 2 жыл бұрын
@@tcbbct509 Acutally, These types of sleds are becoming more rare because people arent buying them. The days of bragging about being the fastest down the lake are gone. Your average snowmobiler is more interesting in ride, handling, features and build quality. IF the big horsepower lake racer sleds WERE in huge demand, all the MFGs would still be building them. What Skidoo has done with the Mach Z is smart. Build a REALLY fast sled thats still great on the trail. Not that the Sidewinder isnt a good trail sled. It is. But not as good as the Mach Z IMO.
@pavmentsurfer13
@pavmentsurfer13 2 жыл бұрын
How can you say its not a lake runner? Its 180 horsepower. Just because it doesnt have as much power as a sidewinder and MAY not beat it on the lake doesnt mean its not a lake runner. The days of obsessing about being the fastest guy on the lake are over. Most riders care more about ride, handling, technology, build quality etc etc.
@tcbbct509
@tcbbct509 2 жыл бұрын
@@pavmentsurfer13 exactly my point. If youre staring at a price tag near 20000 bucks do you really want a sled that's built, for the most part, for one thing. An 800cc trail sled today makes as much or more power than the biggest triples back in the day did and in a lighter package too. They're going to get you to the other end of the lake at uncomfortably high speeds all the same.

What he wants to say but can not say is that skidoo will wait until everyone buys the 180hp sled and then they will produce a 200hp sled. Just like they did with the first generation of 900turbo. Its just too easy to manipulate horsepower on turbo engines.

Really, asking about Ski donkey's 180 hp claim being conservative or underrated ( obviously referring to Arctic cat/ Yamaha's turbo sleds claim of 180hp), but doing so in a negative way that it's a bad thing for "other manufacturers", A.K.A Yamaha/ Cat's claims aren't consistent ?? If what you are referring to had any of these Yamacat's below 180hp I would agree, but NONE have been less than 180!! The average has been 205HP! This talking point to me was absolutely you pandering to BRP :-( I really thought you guys were above this. P.S. The questions about horsepower were simply highlighting the difference in how manufacturers handle listed horsepower VS aftermarket dyno numbers. IMO, when I buy a sled, I want to know what the horsepower should be. Not a made up number. This matters to some people, doesnt matter to others. My point is simply that if NO yamaha turbo dynos less than 190hp, why not list it as 190hp? Makes comparisons more fair for the consumers.

@@pavmentsurfer13 I understand what you're saying, but what you said is clearly a negative (poke) comment towards this sleds only "true" competitor/s Yamaha Sidewinder/ Arctic cat Thundercat "4 stroke" turbos! I would 100% agree with you if these 2 other sleds were putting out less than the advertised HP numbers, but they don't! Snowtrax ( your show), even explains this in a video from 4 years ago during an interview with Yamaha. He clearly states 180 HP is the absolute "minimum" HP you will get, trail, mountain or whatever. IMO, that's awesome to know that the sled I purchase makes that on a bad day and more than likely more every other day !! Honestly, who buys a "performance" sled and is let down because it makes 20+ HP more than advertised? Oh, darn, my 180HP sled just made 205HP! I'm pissed now, LOL :-) All I'm saying is keep it real, I've bought (2) Sleds and (2) 4 wheelers mainly based off your Videos that always were honest and unbiased that I remember. This video with that HP Question just seemed artificial and un called for. Keep the videos coming and keep it REAL!

On a side note, I would ride ANY sled, even a Ski Doo, vs none at all! I don't hate Ski Doo, I actually really like the XS chassis sleds and have ridden a couple ( XS and G4). I'm just not a fan of the G4 ( my opinion) and prefer something a little more unique on the trails. Everywhere I go all I see are Ski Doo's and Polaris, that's one of the reasons I currently ride cat, that and when I test rode the (3) back to back I thought the Cat was more fun and more comfortable. IMHO, BRP missed the boat big time. A Mach Z deserves a 2 stroke. BRP should have revived, improved and E-Tec’ed the 1000 cc 2 stroke and never mind the weight/complexity of a turbo. Moving to the question of will there be a 2nd year of the Mach Z? My prediction is of course there will be. CanAm all ready said the Spyder RT Sea To Sky would only be available for MY 21 and guess what’s back for MY 22, although in a different color?

First deliveries were missing ECU's which are starting to come into dealers just now. Now, they are being delivered without the smart shocks and we are being told late January before we "might" see them. A good chunk of the season is over, and not a peep or an apology from Ski Doo. They just pass the buck and say "call your dealer". My poor dealer has to deal with the mess they created. They are also going to swamp dealer service departments installing parts that should have been on from the factory and that will happen at the busiest time of the year for those service departments. Some kind of "oops, sorry about that, here's a $500 gift card to try and make things right buying accessories" would have been a great show of customer appreciation (keep in mind, that $500 is costing them no where near that if it's only good to reinvest in Ski Doo stuff). Great tech and no doubt what will be great sled, if I actually get to ride it this year. BRP dropped the ball big time allowing that many orders. If they produce it again next year, they will see a massive customer revolt from locals who bought it as a limited edition, one year only sled.

Thing is, covid happened. In order to build a sled, skidoo needs their supplier to deliver. If said supplier said they could deliver say 2000 shocks in 6 months time, but then didn't, BRP is the one being blamed for this. With the global shortage of almost anything, it's sad to say, but customers must be patient.

@@tritri301 no issue with your explanation, but the silence from BRP is deafening and unacceptable. They said a November delivery, now "rumour" for Mach Z smart shocks is January. Neither the dealer nor I have been given an update from BRP. My dealer didn't even know the sled was incomplete until he uncreated it and started to assemble. That is where BRP has dropped the ball big time. I'll be patient, just give me some information.
