@@Legitimoose so I am trying to make a game, I have entity kills as our score and currency, trying to make it take points off that scoreboard if a person buys that button and it opens a door, I tried to modify this command to do that but I cannot seem to get it to work properly. since there is no test for anymore I am not used to this new system, what do you suggest? Your videos are super helpful, glad I found you man!
@Legitimoose3 жыл бұрын
@@noah.j1775 Hey, not sure why you would reply to this 11 month old comment instead of just leaving a new one lol. The general "theory" behind how you do that is to: Detect the player who pressed the button. Then use /execute if score to check if they have enough money. If they do, run a function that opens the door (or something) and removes that amount of money from their score! Hopefully you can take it from there, if you're stuck on the individual commands the quickest way to get answers is usually from a discord server (mine, or the r/minecraftcommands server are quite good). Hope this helps!

Datapacks are definitely the way to go. I started off messing around with command blocks, but they quickly became obsolete with datapacks with introduced. I believe in Minecraft 1.13. I now use command blocks just to run simple tests in a test game. But that's about it. Typically it's to sort out the details for a larger custom function I plan to build or for debugging those functions if they aren't working properly. Command blocks can handle longer commands than the command line. So, they can be useful in a few cases. But I never use them in any of my regular games. Just for testing purposes.

Hello! great tutorial, but I want to know if it is that with this tutorial, I can make a click detector to make an interactive menu? Thank you
@Legitimoose3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Detecting clicks in vanilla is _notoriously_ difficult. There are some videos about it, but there's no _ideal_ solutions. For left clicking, you can really only detect hitting a mob, and for right clicking the easiest way is to detect when you click with a carrot on a stick. Both of those can be done with scoreboards, so yes, this could be useful! Sadly there's no "click" scoreboard objective though, we're stuck with somewhat weird ways to do it. Good luck!

There's a good chance you won't see this but I might as well ask~ In creating a custom mob (tag=witherChief) for a map I'm making, I want to spawn a minion every 100 ticks. I have a repeater command block that makes these cutsie particles around my mob, and I have a chain command block on that that adds 1 to the mob's score (witherChiefSk) every time a particle is created. However, now I want the mob's score to be reset to 0 when it hits 100, then have a chain command block on that that will spawn a minion at it's location every time is reaches 100. I have all the other blocks set up, but for some reason it's not allowing me to set the score to 0 when it reaches 100--any suggestions?
@Legitimoose4 жыл бұрын
Hi! It's not allowing you to? What you described sounds like exactly what you're supposed to do, so good job on that part! Are you doing something like /scoreboard players set @e[tag=witherChief,scores={=100..}] 0? Running that every tick seems like a fairly sensible way to do it. My _real_ suggestion though is to use a datapack ;) Datapacks let you use /schedule to make a function (chain of commands) run after a certain amount of time has passed! It's insanely useful and if you're working on a big enough project it's pretty much always a good idea. Good luck though, and let me know if you're still stuck! :D
@mrmaxmondays4 жыл бұрын
@@Legitimoose I appreciate the reply! I did see you had a datapacks video offered, and I think I am going to look into that because knowing me this project is gunna get pretty big. That being said, I am now determined to figure out how to make this mob do what I'd like! The following bit is a more detailed look into my problem, if you'd prefer to let me just figure it out on my own feel free to, I'm aware it's quite extensive. The list of commands I am currently using is such: 1st Repeater Command Block: /execute at @e[tag=witherChief] run summon area_effect_cloud (blah blah blah, makes a poof around the mob, this bit's working) 2nd Chain Block: /scoreboard players add @e[tag=witherChief] witherChiefSk 1 (this one is also working, it counts up 1 per tick while the mob is in existence) 3rd Chain Block: /scoreboard players set @e[tag=witherChief,scores={dummy=100}] witherChiefSk 0 (this bit SAYS it's working, but lies to me--the counter passes by 100 and keeps counting up) 4th Chain Block: (this one is meant to activate when the timer reaches 100 and resets and will spawn a minion on the mob--I haven't gotten this far yet) Few things to note besides this: when the mob is in existence, the scoreboard's titled "witherChiefSk" whereas the counter is showing after what appears to be a UUID--this doesn't look right and might be the issue. Appreciate you taking the time to look at this, I am confuzzled.
@Legitimoose4 жыл бұрын
@@mrmaxmondays Hi! It looks like you're referring to two different scoreboards, one called "dummy" and one called witherChiefSk. The UUID you're seeing is the UUID of the _mob_ who's score you're setting. Scores on a scoreboard are always associated with "players" (which can also be entities, or fake names). Sounds like something got mixed around there, but it shouldn't be hard to fix!
