Executions Graded: Pirate

We're wrapping up the Executions Graded series, and that means taking a look at the Outlanders. Let's start off with The Pirate. This is an interesting set up, because Pirate uses a flintlock which adds a new level of lethality...but her method of using it...well that's going to take some shots at realism. Let's just see how she does.

I think the double pistol execution would’ve been better if she just started pulling out random pistols, and dropping them so after the executions, Dan, there’s just a pile of flintlock pistols on the ground

This is what I don’t understand. Like how did they not think of something like this? They are big time game devs and yet here we are coming up with way better ideas. I just think they are fucking lazy tbh like this little feature would have made this execution amazing

Honestly, Bullet Dance(and all her executions really) would be funnier and better if she just tossed each spent pistol away(or at you in the case of Bullet Dance) while pulling another out of the patented For Honor item void

I think the Execution would be ten times cooler (and funnier) if she pulled a Reaper. Drop each pistol after a shot and replace it XD

I'm pretty sure there's some pirate gun cosmetics that have 2 barrels, so maybe just 2 shots wouldn't be that unrealistic, but of course the Flintglock ones are completely unrealistic

Now that I think about it, wouldn't it haven been cool if she had a pistol belt and holster like Edward Kenway? Every time she uses her gun (not only for her executions but also her standard moves) she would drop it and pull it out of her belt/holster. Plus it would make her character design a lot cooler! I'm not a game designer though, so I'm not sure if that little delay would affect the balance of her moves.

I think the part were she lights her sword on fire in the flames of death execution was a small reference to the pirate black beard using flames to terrorize his foes in battle Just imagine how a minion would feel if he sees that lol

FULLY agree with you regarding the double flintlock execution. That type of execution is what you’d expect from a Colt revolver, NOT a flintlock pistol. And even then, I was worried that it still wouldn’t be realistic even if she WAS using revolvers, because I thought she was shooting more times than she actually was the first time I saw that execution. Now, however, I see that she shoots each pistol a total of four times (counting the double-headshot), so if she was using revolvers, she’d still have two shots leftover. But still, she’s not using revolvers, she’s using flintlocks, so as a lot of other users are commenting, this execution would be MUCH more realistic if she were carrying at least six different flintlocks and tossing each one aside after she’s shot it.

She'd be half blind, and minus eyebrows, after the point blank in Hold Still. She ate that powder burn and smoke straight up...

I believe that irl there were Double Barrel and maybe even triple barrel Flintlock guns which could Technically be fired more than once. Of course too my knowledge Pirate doesn't have any multi barreled Flintlock(I haven't repped my Pirate high enough to know)

I want a pirates sanction where the gun works so you can have a fast pirate execution and it would be funny to bait people out and do the actual pirate sanction where it miss fires.

Ik technically this is a Universal Execution but I like to have "Thats Cannon" for my Pirate. Its Fast and it fits the Pirate perfectly.

The fire sword one feels more like a showing off execution then anything, very cool though

for "hold still" i thought the sword went into their right shoulder or something. idk, it definitely looks different on the battlefield. if it did then the sword would be unobtrusive to the flintlock

I think this was a fair grade for the Pirate. Based your consistency with all Heroes, it was bound to be an unfortunate Grade for Pirate, she places nearly dead last if not for Jormungandr. The abuse of Flintlock executions could've been avoided of the Devs and Animators simply put the time to make it where she carried more than one pistol. As you've said and to my limited knowledge, Pirates tended to carry more than one Flintlock in Combat for this reason alone. I also wanted to ask, since Ocelotl has been released, do you plan on doing a Heroes of History with focus on the Aztec Empire? Would really love to sit down through that with you. I assume you are but research is taking time. Also, once again, thanks to another comment. I would want to say that after Executions Graded I would love tk hear your thoughts on Heroes Armors and Weapons, to see how effective they are, what cultural and historical influences and comparisons to make, and how plain cool they look to you. I know in that this issue was half addressed in the Gryphon video and I fully understand your situation. If you read this comment, can I make the suggestion that when you're recording your audio that you have a blanket over you and the microphone to help absorb some of the echo. It is practically the cheapest possible soundproofing anyone can have.

I did that and it had no effect. And this video was done in a new location with better sound proofing. In fact most everyone till now has mentioned it sounds better here. I don't know what else I can realistically do.

Ok, flames of death exe deserves another poitn taken off in both realism and efficiency. Realism, cause Warden, a trained warrior, just stands there gawking at Pirate's light show. He would not do that. Efficiency, because to get enough of a spark by runing your blade along the floor to light that fire, you are gonna have to hit the floor really hard with the sharp end of your sword, and that will damage your sword's edge quite considerably.

Well I don't take into consideration WHO the victim is in the execution, so I can't agree to the Realism point. As for Efficiency, I already brought up that it wouldn't ignite that easily from slashing the ground.

Pirates were known to have multiple flintlocks like up towards eight. So her being able to shoot multiple times is realistic.

Gotta say: realism is probably the weakest category, a lot of the best executions have low realism for multiple heroes. The ratings were valid but still, realism is a restraint that video games were created to surmount.
