Hi Mr ‘Is It Fixed Yet?’ Firstly thanks for all your efforts in making great repair videos for the Peugeot 307. You help us keep these cars going and stop them from ending up on the scrap heap! I have a 2004 estate model with 1.6 litre petrol engine and automatic transmission. It is a UK right hand drive model - I am not sure if this makes a difference to the exhaust pipe shape and therefore its routing position under the car and its fitting compared with a European left hand drive model. Like most others commenting on your video, the flange on the centre exhaust section that joins with the rear exhaust has corroded away causing the rear exhaust to tilt upwards at the joint and downwards at the rear bumper. This joint is poorly designed - the joint is under a constant upwards force due to the weight of the rear exhaust not being horizontally balanced on the 2 rubber mountings and therefore this joint is a very weak point. The corrosion is only over the last 1cm to 2cm of the centre long exhaust, in particular the flange itself. It could be repaired, but as I found a new centre exhaust section with a 3 year guarantee online for just £35 (GBP), approx €40 (Euro), including postage, I am replacing the centre section. So far I have removed: 1) The rear exhaust section, by undoing the nuts on the 2 mounting plates for the rubber mounts. 2) The centre exhaust section, by using a hack saw to cut through the exhaust tubing near to where it goes over the sideways chassis rail under the rear seats, near the rear wheels, at the end of the exhaust tunnel. I tried to get the centre exhaust out in one piece, knowing I had to put the new one back in the reverse way, but gave up after about 10 minutes of trying and turned to the hack saw instead. I placed the front of the car on bricks, 2 bricks high, but wasn’t sure if I had enough ground clearance to get the old exhaust off (and therefore the new one on). My problem: Now I am trying to fit the new centre exhaust and I just cannot get it into position on the car. I am putting the exhaust flange, at the rear of the exhaust section, over the sideways chassis rail first, pushing it towards the rear of the car, but cannot then twist and turn the exhaust into the correct position to get it fully over the chassis rail and around the exhaust heat shield under the boot. I have tried this coming from the front of the car and from both the left and right hand sides from just outside the front wheels. So now to my questions: Q1) Should I be jacking up the front wheels, the rear wheels, the left hand side, the right hand side or all 4 wheels? It seems from your video that you had the rear of the car jacked up on ramps but I am not 100% sure. Q2) To what height should I lift the car, to give enough ground clearance to get the exhaust on? Can you recommend the minimum ground clearance height? My ground clearance from the floor to the sill jacking point by the front wheel is 31cm. Q3) Should I be sliding the centre exhaust into position: a) starting from under the engine and moving it towards the rear of the car; b) starting from outside the left (passenger) front wheel and moving it towards the rear of the car; c) starting from outside the right (driver) front wheel and moving it towards the rear of the car; or d) starting from the rear of the car moving it towards the front of the car (does not seem possible due to the oval silencer box having to go over the chassis rail); or e) something else? Any advice from yourself or any of your followers would be much appreciated. Yours gratefully John

The solution to removing the old middle section exhaust and fitting the new exhaust is to remove the cross bar box section that the exhaust goes over. It is held on with six 13mm nuts.

@@giorgiouk6199 what is the cross bar box section? When I Google it I'll get roof bars... 😬

Your videos are much appreciated! I have the exact same problem with my 307 - both end and middle muffler in good condition except the heavily corroded joint between them. Very odd design, it's asking to rust :)

Thank you very much. I really appreciated the meticulous details, video and commentary. My 307 is 2006, I think with the engine light on and the De-polution message. Car will only idle. Being a diesel it with still go up through the manual gearbox. I suppose it is asking for more trouble the more I drive it. Do you know if driving slow over short and long distances causes the CAT to fail. I presume that is what has happened.

Hi again! Our 307's exhaust end box recently dropped, now scraping on the floor! After a brief visual inspection, it would appear that the exhaust collar clamp (that joins the middle + end sections) had completely deteriorated and broken apart. I aim to replace the collar clamp, but I'm not confident that's going to stop the exhaust back box from dropping. The rubber support mounts seem OK (not broken). Does that collar clamp prevent the box from tilting down? I've looked at some other 307 exhausts in my village and some appear to have a support bar going diagonally across the length of the end box, I seem to have a strap. I imagine you may have some experience here, whilst fitting your exhaust in this video. What are your views on this?

In my 307 there is two rods with rubber bushings holding the rear muffler in, they should hold it whether or not the collar clamp is on but..?

On mine 307cc 1.6 whole exhaust is welded and I can't take it apart, only if I cut it
