@@KyrieEleisonMaranathaid be happy with just the 3v 4.6. i think they missed a huge opportunity with that. the 3v came out in 05 and the vics were in production until 2011-12. the 3v also came with a 5spd so it couldve got the same or better mpg while making more power. it wouldnt have made as much as a GT, but it couldve made 270-280hp. that wouldve changed the game for vics. it could’ve potentially been a 6-7 second 0-60 car stock. instead its over 8 with the 2 valve😂

The flow fx's sound really good on this car. I haven't seen them do this much muffling on the other cars but between these two it was like a 10-15db difference. And a much cleaner sound from the flow fx.

My mother in laws husband has been working on cars since he was a kid. He told me that straight piping tends to have backpressure issues. Meaning your car could possibly stall out on a humid day. You need the resonators for that back pressure so I'd recommend performance ones.

You should try a roush axle back exhaust with a X pipe. It sounds clean. It sounds like a clean tuned muscle car with no drone. Flowermaster was ok. But the straight pipe just SCREAMS 😱 PULL ME OVER.

@@DespisiveDerp My last Grand Marquis had deleted rear cats. It did no set off the check engine light because the oxygen sensors are are reading the first cats and not the second pair. Here in Texas we cut them off all the time and never have to worry about passing inspection. Other states are more strict and look for that mod if you tried to pass inspection.

@@ragintaurusmusclemercury7023 yes you are correct, in California you usually have to pass a visual inspection on top of having it hooked up to the computer. In this case you can just cut the secondary cats, gut them and have them get welded back together then the rest is up to preference .

Was fleet maintained by a dept and it came with 109,000 with a $5000 propane system as my second Flex fuel option to supplement regular unleaded gas as primary fuel source. Car very tight runs unbelievably great. $4000 for all. I love these cars. I can cruise 80MPH on highway going over Mt hood without ever getting hot. I dig this car I want to Turbo this car for real!

I know I'ma get hate for this but my 03 town car catalytics got clogged so I deleted them. Although I miss the quieter exhaust I'm aiming for the quietest muffler I can get with some rumble when stomping on the noise pedal. My 72 C10 has turbo mufflers which are chamber mufflers packed with insulation it's pretty quiet but has a bassy tone when your next to a wall.

The FlowFX sound better because the muffler deletes sound so bad. The issue with the Panther body cars are the size of the exhaust itself. They are ridiculously small at only 2 inches. Deleting the h-pipe makes it sound worse. Not to mention that size is a restriction for such a large motor. Go up to a 2.25" size, keep a x or h pipe, delete the rear cats, and some decent mufflers and they will give a Mustang a run for the money sound wise. My first Grand Marquis had Flowpack mufflers and it was loud and deep. It was totaled in an hit and run by a drunk driver but the replacement will get a new exhaust next week. Running one chambered bullets. Should sound sweet.

The original FOMOCO factory dual exhaust system was made with 1 and 7/8ths -inch pipes. Upgraded pipe size = 2 - inch O.D. Walker H-Pipe is 2" O.D. -- MagnaFlow 2" Glasspacks -- 2" Walker Tailpipes. The larger 2.5 -inch pipes will DECREASE low-and mid-range torque, due to loss of exhaust scavenging with the bigger pipes. AND, the bigger pipes will reduce fuel mileage, too. The 4.6-liter is NOT a "large motor" by V-8 standards -- 281 cubic inches is actually pretty small, although the 4.6 had much more horsepower than the 302 c.i. @@SlikLizrd The original exhaust size on my 2003 Grand Marquis was 2" which is undersized for an engine that size pushing 200 hp or higher. A V8 pushing 200 up to 250 can get away with a 2" dual exhaust. Once you hit the 250 mark you need to go up to 2.25'. Ford knows. This that's why their Mustang GT's have 2.25" factory size exhaust even though they have the same engines that are in the Grand Marquis. They were set up for reliability and economy. Not performance. My 2003 Mercury has the factory size h-pipe made by Walker. The mufflers are Jones Flowpacks which are 2.25", and the tailpipes are 2.25" with 3.5" chrome tips. The engine is modified with upgraded ignition, fuel system, and a Competition Cam "Stage 1" camshaft. It makes 280 to the crank. It was totaled a month ago but I am building a 2000 Mercury to replace it. Just installed a cammed 5.4 Triton V8 in it. The exhaust will be installed hopefully next week. Buy some electric exhaust cut outs. It’s what I did for my 1999 p71. Kinda a hassle to install, but it’s basically a pipe that has a electric valve in it, which switches pipes when you give it power. You can have two exhaust setups on the same car. I’ve got the stock system on mine for day to day use, and straight pipes for fun when I feel like it

There are videos of these cars running 13s and 12s without boost and these are two ton cars. It is up to you and how much you want to spend. Outside of a supercharger there is not much you can do with a V6 Charger outside of getting a V8.
