My family have both 2011 and 2018 sorento and the new one has the v6 which is a big plus. There have been no issues on the 2018 model but minor ones on the 2011 except battery failure on both at first year of use.

2020 ultimate, with 40K miles. Im very pleased with my vehicle. After replacing tires, turning grip improved. Uphill is better when you switch to manual. No power loss, or annoying automatic upshift when riding on a steep road.

I work for Hyundai Motor Sales and the Santa Fe SEL Premium 2.0T or Limited 2.0T are awesome with incredible acceleration, the H-Trac AWD system I would highly recommend living in the Midwest(Chicago area) where we have snow, it will go through any thing and love the power. We have 2 kids with car seats with plenty of room! I own a Sonata Sport and Santa Fe SEL Premium 2.0t AWD and am very happy with both! Best Warranty out there!

I have owned my Santa Fe Limited 2.0 T for 6 months and have about 11,000 miles on it. I had not considered Hyundai before and was looking at a Ford Edge. I liked the look of the Santa Fe so decided to test drive it. Honestly I was blown away. The Edge is a nice car but I could not get past the $9,000 price difference for an Edge Titanium. The Santa Fe has a better feature set and the only thing it lacks is the self parking feature. If you cannot parallel park you should rethink driving. The Santa Fe has features the Ford did not. At 6’4” I like space and the Santa Fe delivers in spades. That, added with the tech made it a super buy for the price. I drove the AWD and decided on the FWD due to my dealer having the new Calypso Red with beige leather interior in FWD. I have two other AWD vehicles (Escape and Expedition) so don’t have to have AWD in this car. I agree that if you accelerate hard on a turn it can act squirrelly but I really don’t do that. I like the turbo passing power on the highway and for merging onto the turnpike. For me the turbo was a must have, but agree that for most drivers the regular engine is okay. I really enjoyed your review. Good, practical commentary and aimed towards everyday normal people. Not the esoteric fluff that some reviewers feel the need to go into. I am really happy with my Santa Fe so far and the incredible warranty was icing on the cake, as were all the great safety scores. I drive a lot and feel very happy and satisfied with this purchase. I keep vehicles a long time and put over 210,000 miles on my last daily driver. I hope the Santa Fe is as good for me over the long haul. We will find out!

Just got my 2020 a few weeks ago. For the most part, I love it! But I’ve been finding some things I dislike about it. 1. Gas guzzler! (Could be I’m just used to good gas mileage my sonata offered). 2. The wireless charging feature overheats my iPhone (13pro max) sometimes. 3. I can’t turn my heated seats on with blue link remote start. 4. There is no remote start on the key fob 😤 5. The emergency flashing lights can’t be disabled with the blue link remote start. Other than that, it’s a great vehicle! Great review

Loved your review man. So honest and straight. I am seriously considering the Limited now that my 2017 Rogue limited lease is ending. Love how feature packed this thing is with high comfort and quiet. Reminds me of Rogue... Lots of value with quiet interior and soft engine (2.4), but without CVT. I may miss the better gas mileage however if I went with the Santa Fe, plus no CD player, which I am used to.

Bought a 2020 orange lava burst with the grey and brown interior with the 2.0t with AWD. Best car I’ve had by far. The AWD doesn’t have any issue with the power of the turbo!

What a great review! Thanks. I was new car shopping in early February before all the current pandemic issues. I drove this car (Santa Fe sel 2.0 T), a v-6 Sorrento, Mazda CD 9, Ford Edge, Subaru outback... I ended up backing away on buying for the time being. I was very interested in you take on the 2.0t vs the 2.4 liter engines. In 48 years of car buying i have never owned a 4 cyl engine so that is a big issue to me, but I know the engines nowadays are very effecient. Thanks again!

The Sorrento is a great choice love how it still comes with a V6 but they will be redesigning it soon so V6 will be going away with the sorrento I think.

This is a good car (and a good review!) I always like the manufacturers that maintain low levels of NVH. It makes the car feel more luxurious, like you said. Oh yeah, NA four cylinders can be better in a lot of scenarios compared to the turbos that get all of the attention nowadays.

Kevin: your review of the Hyundai Santa Fe is excellent because it's peppered with your own analysis of this car. Very enjoyable and right on the money. I'm going to sound like a Hyundai spokeperson and I'm not. The company for some years has been making great cars and as you say Kevin (don't know your last name), Hyundai knows what buyers want and delivers accordingly, and does so real well. I recently went for a rather extended test drive of a Santa Fe turbo 4 front wheel drive with exactly the same features of the one you drive in your video. I happened to notice all the things you mention and fully agree with your assessment. The Santa Fe is a very impressive midsize suv. Excellent ergonnomics, very easy to use all features, and it's packed to the gills with them. Comfortable, great visibility, very responsive. Roomy and attractive all around. Quiet and powerful. Didn't drive a regular four cilinder with 185 hp, nor did I test one with all wheel drive. I bet though the regular engine is sufficient and I'm being subjective here. Don't know but all wheel drive would be an overkill and an expensive one at that. Forget Toyota and Honda, Mazda, etc and spring for a Hyundai. I owned a Accent I'd purchased in 2013, a hatchback. A very nice car, but my needs for a bigger vehicle changed so I traded it for a non Hyundai unfortunatelly. I'm seriously considering returning to the fold and purchasing another Hyundai. They make impressively excellent vehicles, reliable and inexpensive. Look forward to viewing more of your reviews Kevin.

I rented a 2020 Santa Fe. I love the car and the way it handles. On the third day of my rental I realized that the seat is not comfortable for driving over one hour. The driver seat is too narrow. I was squirming in my seat because of discomfort. This is a show stopper for me as I was ready to buy one for my upcoming trip across country.

The driver seat isn't too narrow- the seat has "wings" on the sides like a sports seat, but they're not too bad to get over, unlike true sport seats. I guarantee a seat pad would take care of your issue and prevent fatigue. This vehicle is without a doubt the BEST VALUE in the mid-sized SUV class, hands down. A totally loaded Limited trim with turbo and all-wheel drive will be less than a comparable Subaru. Throw in Hyundai's best-of-class warranties and free maintenance for 3 years you .can't beat that.

Just want to clarify that when you say it's $10k cheaper to drop down to the naturally aspirated engine, that's not the case unless you also drop a lot of features. If you keep the limited trim and just drop engines you're looking at about an $1800 difference, and that does not include the $1700 AWD option. So if you go with the loaded 4-cylinder with AWD per your example, it's only about $100 cheaper than the one you're driving. You only get the big savings when you drop trims, in which case you are giving up all the other limited features.

The Limited trim includes heated front and rear seats, air-conditioned front seats, two-setting driver's seat memory, heated steering wheel, 19-inch alloy wheels and a built-in navigation system. Save yourself about $5000 and get the SEL Premium trim which does not have heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, air-conditioned front seats 19-inch alloy wheels, drivers seat memory and nav system. Same great car, less happy crap IMHO.

I'm on my 3rd Santa Fe. 2014, 2016 and 2020. I recommend stay away from the turbo. Love my Santa Fe limited 2020. One problem with the 2020 is the airflow around the windshield is different than the older models. I'm on my 3rd windshield in 90k miles. Rocks hit hard when kicked up by semis. You will have cracks and nicks in the windshield. My current windshield has tons of nicks in it and 2 crack holes. Otherwise a great car. Even my 2022 Tucson limited has a couple of small holes in the windshield. I still recommend these cars, but be aware of the problems.

I'm considering the Santa Fe Limited 2.0T or the 2019 Limited or Ultimate 2.0T to replace my family's 2008 300C with the 5.7L V8 which is quite thirsty on gas. This has a better balance of power & efficiency. Even the 2021 onwards Calligraphy has more HP & torque than this one does. The Calligraphy trim has that 2.5T with 281 HP & 311 lb-ft of torque, & the interior is even nicer than the Limited & Ultimate trims of the Santa Fe

I WENT TO OFFICE DEPOT AND BOUGHT ME A NEW OFFICE CHAIR, HIGH NECK REST, VERY LARGE. WE WENT OUT, HMM, HIT THE GREAT FOLD BUTTONS AND BINGO PLENTY OF ROOM. I KEEP A LARGE PLASTIC BOX IN THE REAR, TOOLS, LIGHTS, JUNK. I STILL HAND ROOM TO NOT MOVE IT. I BOUGHT A SMALL SET, 1" WIDE BABY CGU'S AND PUT ONE HOOK IN THE LEFT SIDE AND HOOK THE OTHER IN RIGHT SIDE. BIG ITEMS, JUST LASH THE TIE DOWN TOGETHER, NOTHING MOVES. THERE IS SMALL HOOKS IN REAR TO HANG PLASTIC BAGS. ALSO WHEN YOU PUT IT IN REVERSE BOTH REAR VIEW MIRRORS TILT DOWN TO HELP SEE CURBS. Were most likely going to go with the CX-5 Grand Touring AWD and the GT Premium Package as it’s within our price range. That’s HUD is a nice touch, along with interior and the minimal g-force on sharp turns.

So the Sorrento has not been redesigned yet like the Santa Fe however, the Sorrento handled significantly better and you can still get a V6 with that vehicle. If you value quietness and a tad bit more comfort, the new Santa Fe might be for you. I think you will be satisfied with either but certainly do take a look at both. Yes the regular 4 cylinder will save you some money for sure. Best of luck my friend

Just bought a 20’ Santa Fe SEL AWD with 16,000 miles for $28,000. The Santa Fe is superior to the built 16’ WRX I had prior. The Santa Fe is beyond comfortable, smooth & quiet. The only thing is that it has no fucking power. Switching between my built 94 383 LT4 Camaro z28 and the Santa Fe makes it even more noticeable how underpowered the Santa Fe is. I’ve gotten up to 43 mpg in the Santa Fe on the highway going 75mph-80mph. Im a mechanic for an airline and 80 of the vehicles the other mechanics daily drive are Hyundai’s & KIA’s. None of them have had any problems. I’ll be a Hyundai/KIA customer the rest of my life. These vehicles are such low maintenance and so fucking reliable that’s it’s crazy. I drive 36 miles each way to work and I beat on my cars but take really well care of them mechanically, I plan on keeping the Santa for 6 years or longer.

great video as always. Americans are so lucky, you can get the premium sound system with both engines. In canada, Its only available to us on the top line trim with the 2.0L turbo. way too expensive. I agree, I would get the base engine. if the upgraded engine was the 3.3L V6 in the Kia sorento, I would consider stepping up to that, otherwise no need to spend on the turbo.

I drove a rental Hyundai Santefe years ago. The performance of the car was great. I also liked the easy visability the vehicle had. It looks like the Sante Fe offers you a lot. I was looking at the Toyotas but what I see is all looks and nothing offered to the driver unless you spend two years salary. I cant see paying $50,000 for a Toyota. For 5k you may as well get a Mercedes Benz of a BMW. The 38k price for the top Sante fe is a good deal. I just dont know what the long term reliability of the vehicle is?

Great Review for the real world. I have a 2020 Limited 2.0T AWD and wheel slip/torque steer non existent: even on wet roads and with the crappy tires (pretty sure it had continentals on the 2019). AWD does make a big difference (I tested a FWD too) and was a must since I'm in Wisconsin. Double pane glass on windshield and front windows helps make the vehicle more quiet.

I bought the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe with the 2.0 all wheel drive and love it. My wife has the Palisade, larger and more room, however I think Hyundai did a great job on this vehicle. Please don’t compare a front wheel drive model with the 2.0 engine, that model in my area is the bastardized model no body wants.

Yes there are two engine options if you want to save money, there is a none Turbo 4 cylinder you can get, especially if you are buying FWD, I would only suggest that motor. If you must have the turbo power, I would suggest paying up for the AWD as well since it will distribute power better so it will handle better. You will most likely take a hit on fuel economy tho but power is good. Hope this helps

A correction, the build with AWD and 2.0T upgrade does not add $10k. $1800 for the 2.0T and $1700 for the AWD.

I have a 2010 Sante Fe. It is very noisy, and does not have a smooth ride. Also, the paint on the exterior flakes off about. The steering wheel has also deteriorated over the years, and you have to have a cover installed on the steering wheel. My Sante Fe has 130 thousand miles on it.

Picking SUVs just has to come down to what your most valued feature is because most of them are better than another one at SOMETHING for example the Santa Fe (just as an example) might be best in class technology if it's at all up to par with what the 2020 Sonata's got. Meanwhile the Murano might be best in class cargo room or something. The Mazda tends to be worst in class in that aspect I believe

@@MeynMotorGroup yeah I think the Sorento cream pies in this Santa Fe and then tells it it's not gonna pay for the child. Actually that's inappropriate, but I don't feel like deleting it. Imo the Kia is better but I do wish they kept some of the elements from the old Sorento like the amber DRLs. I thought that the new Sorento is going to have a 3.5L option? Maybe I heard that wrong somewhere. But in terms of looks I think it does look better than the old one. Certainly looks less like a mom car/minivan from the front and the back. I don't really love how any of the Hyundai SUVs look right now except for the Palisade ironically. I think that one just has so much presence and it's easily distinguishable whereas the Santa, Kona, Venue all kind of look like the same car but spec'd more poorly 😂. I love what I'm seeing from the 2021 Tucson images though, so I'm eager for that! Hope you get a review sooner rather than later!

I noticed at around 21:14 it looks like you slid the back seat forward?? Pretty sure the sliding rear seat was removed on all trim levels for 2020. My 2020 limited does not have adjustable rear seats. Maybe because it's a press car/early production and still had the feature. Or was that a photo from a press kit?

I was disappointed that the sliding rear seats were removed, but supposedly that feature added to rattles, so I'll be happy with the quiet since I'm usually the only person in the car. Again, excellent video.

Real world MPG has always almost proven to be superior to other competitors. Turbo engines when pushed always get bad mpg no matter who makes it that's why I always recommend naturally aspirated engines if possible
