Meanwhile all the grown men , MS and Elders included, were literally idolizing hockey players and teams, especially the Vancouver Canuks. They would even mention hockey in their parts on stage. Finally an ex-JW channel that understands that the de-registering issue is not about the money, which is a pittance. It's about their reputation, which they know if it goes into the crapper, will cost them much, much more in donations worldwide. Also, excellent breakdown of their un-biblical "removal" procedure. I would like to add a couple of other points about 1 Corinthians that they get wrong. The verse says "IS a fornicator, drunkard, greedy person etc." It does not say WAS, so "Paul" was instructing the congregation that if it was known that a fellow believer was engaging in certain conduct, they should pull back from him or her socially until they stopped the behavior. There was no committee of elders to be formed to determine repentance. Paul never even mentioned repentance as a prerequisite to be welcomed back, just stop the behavior. Finally, it was left up to each person in the congregation as to whether to limit contact with the "wrongdoer" as stated in 2 Corinthians 2:6 "The punishment inflicted on him by the MAJORITY is sufficient." No one was removed for associating with this person. WT is blood guilty for all those who harmed themselves due to their cruel disfellowshipping policy.

I had the same talk with a friend who's a JW. She said it's a form of discipline, it's hard and painful but good for their soul and even went on to quote Hebrews 12:5-11, which had nothing at all to do with disfellowshipping or even church discipline. They always say the Bible says to treat unrepented Christians as tax collectors but they never ask themselves or remember how Jesus treated the tax collectors and sinners.

Ultimately, a bad reputation will affect donations. Norway alone wasn't about the money. However the domino effect if more governments follow in Norway's actions will affect dollars. If the EU and other European countries do this, then eventually the U.S. will notice. It's ALWAYS about money with Watchtower. That's why they care about their reputation.

This is extra funny to me bc my JW sister just went to the Czech Republic to preach a couple years ago or so. Guess her preaching wasn't very effective. XD Also as a kid that almost died from blood loss once bc my dad's right to scream "NO TRANSFUSIONS!" at the doctors trying to save me apparently overruled my right to proper medical care, I always smile when I hear about JWs losing rights~ :D

I never thought about equating one-time drunkards with one-time fornicators, and why the former is given multiple chances, but the latter is only given one chance before they are disfellowshipped, or at least publicly reproved. However I did think of someone that wanted to save their life, or the life of their child, and got a blood transfusion. First “offense” of that, and they are DF’d. Why are they not given multiple chances like the greedy person?

As for saying they are at risk of losing property etc, that is stretching things I think. Isn’t a letter writing campaign to government organisations taking part in politics? Don’t they say they won’t have anything to do with politics? Funny how they can all say they won’t even vote in a small matter that impacts on them locally but will jump to doing a whole letter writing campaign as soon as they are told to.

A couple things I would like to add to this wonderful video: When the witnesses did their letter campaign for Russia, there were so many letters the Russian mail system got backed up for weeks/ months. Even though that massive back up won’t happen in the Czech Republic, a weeks worth of a back up won’t help the witnesses case, and I’m guessing the GB know that. I’m also in the Seattle area and a lot of the brothers were showing their “support” for the LOB even at the meetings or in their line of work. One elder would wear blue and green every Sunday and had his work van painted said colors because of how much of a fan he was.

This occurring in the Czech Republic is almost funny. Due to that region's history with religious kingdoms and general occupation, it is now significantly agnostic/atheist. The same could be said as to why Czechia hasn't fully adopted the Euro as their currency because having the Czech Koruna gives pride to older generations who lived through multiple occupations. So yes, religious freedom is taken seriously there, but at the same time, if a religion is impacting others negatively, CZ won't let that slide compared to other countries.

I have been sharing the gospel with JW recently. It’s truly sad to see how controlled of the organization and fearful they are of outside information. It’s also sad to see how they have been fed lies about what historic / orthodox Christian’s believe. I try to explain the Trinity and they keep trying to challenge me with scriptures that refute modalism. I keep trying to explain to them I don’t believe in modalism and the JW do not understand the trinity.

The men leaders of Watchtower use that verse to say avoid apostates, but the scripture is not talking about apostates, but those who deny Christ came in the flesh.
