Omg the water height! Its fine when you look with a birds eye view but, on a street-style view, its so weird. When are you draining that secondary river? And remember to have rain on for a few hours when youre not actively playing; that actually increases water height.

A note about the hostpital/uni dispute: I don't know how possible this is within the CS2 framework, but universities with medical schools run or cooperate with hospitals. It could easily be a part of the university's medical school system - perhaps the medical school is centered on downtown (thus the location of the hospital).
@patricksweeney19247 ай бұрын
I agree. Main university campus should be located elsewhere. The university hospital/medical school should be located at the vacant downtown site.

I think Riverview realistically would have a way higher population than it currently has. A city the sizes of Riverview would probably have a population close to 180,000 if not higher. With just 90,000 residens the streets and especially the high density buildings in the downtowns would be quite empty. I feel like the game needs to increase the density of all assets.
@BrokeHungarian7 ай бұрын

People won't want to have kids somewhere unless there kids can get good healthcare, play at playgrounds, and get through grade school there. I think it would help to meet the demand for elementary and high school (and ideally overshoot it to account for population growth for a while), as well as putting in more playgrounds (not just custom-designed parks, but playgrounds).
@dram-5147 ай бұрын
I commented this on his last video as well, seriously needs to focus on building more schools and parks as opposed to overhauling some random areas
@Hubbubb22-citiesskylines7 ай бұрын
slightly more complex than that. Yes, people move to neighborhoods that have quality amenities. Globally, however, fertility rates fall with increased literacy rates and denser urbanization. When women are allowed to become educated and professionalize, they make different choices for themselves. Cost of living is higher in dense urban zones, so families have fewer children anyway. Building schools and medical facilities alone will not shift these kinds of powerful demographic changes.
@jaydenanders98147 ай бұрын
A few things to note/add: 1. In places like sterling, the parking isn't be used at all, maybe time to delete some parking for more commerical buildings, especially time to get rid of the parking lots in the inner city. 2. Might be nice to add some cultural, touristy places, maybe an open air pedestrian mall in the city 3. No need to demolish housing for new amenities, there's plenty of room in Riverview (plus not very American lol) 4. Better riverside activation 5. and PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!!!! Great city btw, been watching for ages!!
@realtwovo6 ай бұрын
I agree with that 3rd point. In a more medium dense city like this, it would be more realistic for multiple HUGE schools in the suburds with school busses to help student commute

love the series man. I might be wrong but i think the diagonal parking bays should be on a one way road. Its diagonal so the cars are always going to be facing the same way once they leave. The thought of having to reverse out of a bay in that lot that only has one enterance would be pretty rough for the employees.

I found through my cities that building city services boost the desirability and residential demand quite a lot (I understand that this is far from NA realism but having some hospitals, unis, park areas, other services does help. Also, unique buildings also help a lot with happiness and desirability.)

To be honest, your city is struggling with a problem typical of developed countries. Expensive apartments do not encourage young couples to have children, so we have a demographic collapse
@w1k1pog287 ай бұрын
The solution is, of course, public construction of apartments for cheap rent, which will take many terms in office (episodes)
@Sheeshus97 ай бұрын
I had the same thought. Many apartment complexes will solve the problem in CS2. Real life however, is more complicated. People wanting to have a big family normally do not want to live in an apartment. 😆
@Infrastructurist7 ай бұрын
Yeah it feels quite realistic :-) But it's also clear that this problem is worsened when building large areas in bulks, then pausing new developments for awhile, rinse repeat!
@theorixlux7 ай бұрын
@@Sheeshus9 hmmm, I feel like that's not quite true. You gotta take into account Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Most households just want someplace cheap and safe. Slightly wealthier households want someplace with low commute times/adequate transport. Then wealthier households will start looking for wants (parks, desired density, local culture/schools/government). And it's only at that point that you can balance between suburban and urban development. Most people, unfortunately, are not wealthy like that, regardless of whether they want to start a big family or not.
@Sheeshus97 ай бұрын
@@theorixlux Fair points, but we are also talking about a metropolis area in this particular case, so inherently extremely urban. People wanting families in very urban areas are probably more or less OK with living in apartments because there aren’t many options. However in more suburban areas with apartments and houses mixed throughout, I believe the normal for people with medium wealth is to try and get a house as that allows more space and privacy for their family. A very interesting debate certainly
@nickbellomo33627 ай бұрын
When you are placing assets especially over different color markers it's not going towards your demand. For example 40:45 you put commercial over industry markers. But commercial doesn't go down. Markers need to be changed to count towards demand from what I noticed.

I think a big issue with C:S2 is the way the cims are generated, it seems like all the agents are a specific age when they move in, so every time you make a new development (new suburb, upzoning downtown, etc) all the cims are the same age. I've seen a LOT of videos where the stat screen showed death waves which is pretty unrealistic for 10% of your population to die of natural causes in a 2 week span lol. It also seems really hard to get a naturally growing and healthy population, from what i've noticed it specially the way demand works, population grows almost entirely with "immigration" and you might have a good birth rate to be on replacement level but you're not gonna have a large "native" population in my experience.

Great build as always, my friend. @Infrastructurist7 ай бұрын
Oh, sorry to hear that. It's interesting because personally I feel this recent in-depth focus on Riverview's main issues (transit, demographics) has felt more thoughtful than previous jumping-back-and-forth between series and standalone builds. But I suppose it's different for everyone :-) With that said, there are certainly builds that require much more planning than others, and at times where I really just want to enjoy myself creating content but have other commitments or am otherwise busy, I definitely prefer more 'free', build-as-I-go builds :-D
@jemsyago71637 ай бұрын
Maybe it feels this way for you since Infra is focusing on addressing issues as they pop up more than simply continuing building as they're used to. I do think though that trying to address issues is somewhat more thoughtful, though that doesn't mean Infra is the best at solving them. (He still makes dumb mistakes lmfao)

alternative for the vacant city lot: it would probably take up more than just the space that is there but you could do something that combines the two uses. a lot of university's also operate with a public health system. for example upmc in Pittsburgh, the university campus is intermixed with the hospital because they do a lot of medicine and science based programs there. just a suggestion!

You made there that four lane highway ramp to Bedford street. I am 99,9 % sure that this lane configuration would be competely enough: 1 to LEFT & 2 to RIGHT. BUT NOTICE: There is two lanes coming from the highway. BOTH of them should go to the right turning lanes, while the cars on the left lane could also go to the left turning lane, NOT like the left lane from the highway goes only to left turning lane in the intersection, and right one to BOTH right turning lanes. Just do the first one, I think this was the problem in the first try with Florence street, you see, cars want to turn right when they get to Bedford street. (sorry for way too long explanation :) )
