We are west of downtown. There are a lot of options in terms of neighborhoods here. You'll know more after you come to visit!

@@FlynnsOnTheFly sorry to correct you. You are south west of downtown. Río Tomebamba divides the city north and south. Benigno Malo street (downtown) and Solano Ave divides the city east - west. By the way a friend of mine used to own that apartment. We had great evenings there. It’s a lovely place.

Yes, noise is definitely an issue😕. We've talked to the neighbors that like to party and, fingers crossed, we've come to an agreement. They're all very nice so I think we're going to be ok.

Did you have a lawyer review your lease? So curious! The price is right in line for Cuenca, the quality of the unit and all that you have! Good job! Oh, and your art is so beautiful!

We found this one on www.plusvalia.com and contacted the agent from there. Leases here are only 2 or 3 pages and then penalty for leaving early is the loss of deposit. No need for legal review, in our opinion. Thank you!

Hi Walter! Our first apartment was just outside of the Centro near Hotel PumaPungo which is near the Tomebamba river. We now live near "Zona Rosa" which is West of El Centro around Gran Columbia before Avenida Las Americas. We are still very close to El Centro and moved from East to the West of Rio Tomebamba.

Excellent price for the apt including all utilities and internet. This apt is much bigger and nicer that the 2/1 you had earlier in your adventure. How did you manage to break that lease? Definitely Ecuador is less expensive than the States. Do, will you do an total budget amount that includes food, transportation, and entertainment?

We broke the lease by notifying the owners and forfeiting our deposit of 1 months rent. We also arranged another couple we met to move in after us. We do not keep good enough records for a honest budget yet 🤫

Hola Vegas! Yes, there is plenty of hot water... sometimes its just a little finicky 😁 None of the places we have stayed have had heaters. There are fireplaces in some houses we have seen...

Hi Tom! We would definitely recommend renting until you figure out the area that fits your lifestyle. There are a decent amount of rentals popping up on the market all the time here. We don't have experience with short term rentals, but they do exist here. We signed 1 year lease on first apartment that we left after 1 month and list our deposit...

Sorry to be such a vulture, and sorry if you are having to leave Cuenca unexpectedly as we were looking forward to maybe crossing paths with you when we arrive. But, back to the vulture thing! This apartment is amazing and we fell in love with it on your tour. We have a smallish dog not sure if that is a deal breaker. Can we get contact info for the landlord if this is all true? We arrive mid April, but would pay rent and deposit from April 1st to hold it.

Hi Norma! We called on 6 different agents to look at different apartments... Most were not very responsive the way we would expect. We searched a website called "Plusvalía" and called on places as quick as they listed. Gringo Post and Cuenca Highlife are daily email newsletters that are free to sign up for and agents list there as well. We kissed a lot of frogs till we found something we really liked...

Hi Brittney! We thought the same thing before we came, but found reality to be a bit different than we expected. We also found that furnished rentals our significantly more than unfurnished and we didn't want to start from scratch. Let us know what you find!
