JFK has the rudest employees I've ever encountered. With airport workers we are all effed as we cannot say anything. I personally never ask for anything extra on flights. Lately on a recent flight I was upgraded to 1st class and I said nothing much to the attendants, just "thank you no ice please". It's not worth it. My husband asked for hot tea on my behalf but omg asking for hot tea is like asking for their first born child!

I have known Ayo all her life and I have never known her to cry in public, much less in front of her children. Ayo has a reputation (especially with her teaching background in Special Ed ) of being extremely patient, taking the time to clearly explain a situation. It was totally uncalled for by Delta employees, especially a supervisor, to treat this family in such a disrespectful way that resulted in tears of frustration under the extreme stress of knowing that they had only a short time (minutes) to get to their plane before it departed. I'm grateful to Tony and how he handled the situation (standing down and not creating more of a scene). Delta has some real problems, especially with misinformation given to their customers. And sending an old, decrepit airplane to fly across the ocean...really Delta? I guess you feel that any customer flying to Africa is a second-class customer and not deserving of your best! Shame on you Delta!
@ExpatLifeGhana4 жыл бұрын
Awww... @Nancy Vine Thank you ❤️️. I really appreciate that. I really am not one to cry in public, I guess the stress finally got me. And thanks for noting my work in education. In special ed, you get your masters in patience... but they were no match for Delta's JFK team, lol.

Reporting it to Delta won't help unless posted by someone influential on Twitter or other social media. It is a commonly raised problem - I have heard about their rudeness for several years now. This is more an organisational culture problem and it seems they put their rudest staff on African flights and desks?

Wooow Congratulations ! For so long I have heard DELTA horror stories. Airline Staff need stress management !!Yours was the experience to confirm and validate your journey to freedom on the continent. This brings back memories for me. Back in the 70’s I worked for Alitalia as Ground Hostess and Unaccompanied Minor hostess and UTA as ground hostess and Tourism Officer in Lagos, Nigeria. During the harmattan season when flights were often cancelled or delayed I came into my own and learnt how to calm anxious travellers. I now live in London. I look forward to visiting Ghana , hopefully by this time next year. Looks like there is a niche for training airline CUSOMER service staff etc etc. ALSO If only you guys could link up with an entrepreneur with money and buy a fleet dedicated to flying our people respectfully to the continent. 🧗🏾♀️💝thank you much much appreciated. You guys were so thorough in your assessment of the international travel protocol for Ghana. I live in Ghana and got stuck in the US back in March and was finally able to return to Ghana 27th Sept. So nice to finally be back on the Motherland.

you guys have the patience of Job. So sorry you had that TERRIBLE experience. No excuse for Delta!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sure this covid problem had a lot to do with it. I went to Ghana twice before covid and had a good time and was told beforehand from my travel friends of the potential issues, but to count it all as part of the adventure! I really enjoy how pleasant and informative you 2 are. I am looking forward to your next video, God BLess!

I started watching your vid, thinking it will be a nice Saturday afternoon viewing. Now my daughter is trying to get me to stop crying. I absolutely cannot believe what happened to you. I FULLY & COMPLETELY understand the tears, the frustration, the anger and all the other myriad of emotions. I will NEVER fly delta again. NEVER-EVER! And, because I book travel for consultants, I will NEVER book a consultant on delta. And, yes, I know I spelled the name with a lower-case. They do not deserve capitalization. So, through the tears, I welcome you home from the diaspora and wish you all the best in the Motherland!

Thank God you are safely home. Hope the boys get some much needed rest soon. Akwaaba to all of you. Blessings! I've had terrible experiences twice flying Delta to and from Ghana and I've resolved not to fly them again. And yes, all the Airlines fly their worst planes to Africa and the ticket prices are always more expensive compared to other (and much longer) routes. This has been going on for years! Sad!!!
