So stoked to see Expedition Overland covering the AEV Products. I'd love to see the Expedition Overland Videography talent used while trekking a couple of AEV Rams or Wranglers across the wilds. I just recently purchased a 2017 4wd Tacoma and I've never been so disappointed in a vehicle. I wish I would have just gone for a Ram Diesel instead. I don't know how you guys do what you do with the lack of power, fuel economy, and range that the Tacoma offers. Love that you're videoing and sharing it with us though.

I'm wanting to get the AEV raised intake and Katla wheels for my powerwagon. He is incorrect on saying it takes a 6-8" lift to fit 37's on a Ram 2500 tho. Several powerwagon guys are running them with just a set of leveling springs and control arms. 40's is where you have to start looking at big lifts or the AEV kit.

I've been up on the Dempster, plenty of fuel along the way and in Inuvik, not sure why anyone would need more than 74 gallons. Up to Tuk and back is only a couple hundred miles flat ground. Locals drive from Inuvik to Whitehorse and back every day of the year in the average pickup. Of course sometimes the Dempster is closed due to winter conditions for a day or two but that's typical.

Excellent build but just a note. In order to run 37s a six or 8 inch lift is not necessary. A carli pintop 3 inch suspension system allows for 37s on a 2500. That said i am absolutely in the market for one of these.

I just bought my Prospector XL fitted to a 2018 Ram 3500 Megacab. They only do SW rear axles. The 3500 and megacab's require some additional hardware for fitment, but it's not vary much. The base package is awesome and comes with the 4.30 gear upgrade (and custom billstien shocks). The price goes up considerably depending on the additional options you can continue to add. My total package came to $30k with several options added including ARB front and rear lockers. You could do the BDS suspension, but I can attest that the AEV suspension is better than factory in handling and performance with 40's.

+McBoner, my '16 Power Wagon does very well on any trail I've tried here in the southwest compared to my well fitted 80 series Lexus LX450. Again, it really depends on what type of trails you want to run. The only advantage a Jeep is going to give you (most of the time) is breakover. I was very impressed with the PW in Moab. As a matter of fact, that trip, our group of six, were all in full sized trucks and were running ATV trails at one point. Some desert pin-striping, but that is why you get white. (it'll buff out! ;-)

Lowered the axle tube? What does that mean? There's no SRW Ram with 74 gallons of fuel from the factory, he must mean after they removed the now useless spare tire and replaced it with Titan. And spacer lifts are the cheapest, least capable solution, sorry AEV. Carli costs a lot more but if you wheel it's worth it. Use remote reservoirs if your traveling off road at any fast pace.
@MegaCabCummins67 жыл бұрын
You're right, and we've been saying it on DTX since their suspension "system" came out. It's a ton of money for nothing more than a spacer lift, it just so happens to be under the spring. I went with Thuren on mine, I had Carli before, more than happy with both. I said elsewhere there is a couple things I would change, one would be a 3" Thuren Suspension System.
@JeepCherokeeful7 жыл бұрын
Patrick Tingley I've also discovered that if you wheel a Cummins equipped Ram hard the front axle might very well ben;, from my first hand experience, not something you can cheaply fix after the fact. Trussing it first thing is key or installing a new, Currie or Dyna track axle for example.
@MegaCabCummins67 жыл бұрын
JeepCherokeeful which is why mine is trussed
@JeepCherokeeful7 жыл бұрын
Patrick Tingley good! Also, the 41" tires on his xl with the tray would be the worst! FYI, I've been to Inuvik in the summer and lived in Alaska for almost 5 years, and am best friends with a Yukon Territory DOT officer. A stock Subaru Outback with snow tires would cover the trip to Tuk faster, more safely and with half the fuel! Semi trucks drive up there on a daily basis, but they do chain up frequently. I delivered fuel to the gold miners in Dawson City for a couple summers.
@RandomS2K7 жыл бұрын
Any AWD vehicle would be better if just doing a normal Tuk trip. Part time 4wd and solid axles isn't needed for a trip like that and isn't really desired unless you are doing a lot of wheeling on the side.

@MegaCabCummins67 жыл бұрын
They run little trucks too. These have bigger diffs, 11.5" in the rear, and need more ground clearance. And "most" of what the south Africans and Australians run is flat or relatively so. You're comparing apples to oranges. I didn't know you had to be on a different continent to be Off Road.
@Gods_Patriot7 жыл бұрын
Patrick Tingley look up a toyota land cruiser. Not a small truck. That will also outroad and outrun either of these pieces of shit on here
