Same, I have never had a personal runner that I haven't sold it after 3-7 years for less than I bought it. I had a van once that paid me out twice on insurance over 4 years that it paid for itself twice, the insurance and tax over the time and a few grand left over.

I thought you was serious about thr vauxhall insignia. Don't knock them. I must be lucky. I had one for five years from 92K on the clock and sold it with 146K on the clock. I purchased nearly a year ago another vauxhall insignia estate 1.6ltr 2016 and its another good runner. With easy 65mpg - 68mpg and only £20 tax for the year. Cheap for parts and one or the easiest cars to service yourself and to change brake pads and discs. Fan of the channel, keep up the good work.

Toyota did offer me £100 for a 2003 VW Golf 1.9 SDI with 257,000 miles back in 2019 I turned them down and sold for £300 myself mostly because I didn't want them to scrap it. I always think of the Leeds car auctions fondly at Hunslet, the owner banned "Hog Rollin" American style auctioneering, you didn't have to try and guess the price or work out WTF it is they are trying to say. None of this £750 two two two two two two £775 crap. They would just say bid stands at £750, last call at £750 and bang went the hammer, you held out you missed out.

Lol, it seems to change from week to week. "No money in second hand motors, luxury cars and EVs will soon be exchanged for three crisp wrappers." "Dealers can't make any money, going out of business." Now they are pricey again? From a punters point of view I'd love to see the dramatic market rollercoaster translate to lower retail prices for "ordinary" cars, but curiously they went high and stayed high.🤔
@gravemind6536
@gravemind6536 11 ай бұрын
Because its supply and demand the market is being flooded with new cars that people don't want and can't afford so they're buying used cars. Small cheap economical cars are being killed off and the value of existing ones is therefore rising. People are paying for relability and cheap running costs more than they are the car itself. EVs are overpriced to begin with and their drop in value is them dropping to the price they should have been to start with Vauxhall Corsa and Pegueot E 308 both had £10k knocked off brand new list prices by dealerships to make them shift you can just look on auto trader. Luxury cars always lose lots of value as they start to become a massive liability with age.

@@gravemind6536That plus parts availability and high repair costs mean more cars are getting written off that probably shouldn't be... If the former owners of these written off cars then go back to spend just the payout, they'll be fishing in an ever smaller pool.... Supply starts to look much tighter in relation to demand.

I think dealers know that cars £5k+ retail are not selling so the demand is for trade values around £2500 or so even if that is technically over book. Buyers won't know whether the retail value is over or not, they are just happy to be able to afford the car. "Cheap" cars are overpriced but that's where the demand is. Give up your £200 per month PCP and buy a car for cash and own it.

Hi phil, yes the zeta and sigma engines are decent units. Been doing a lot or research into Eco boost recently and as you rightly say they are all made in Europe over the two plants mentioned. Very odd position to take when they are all made in the same place and will have the same issues.

Noticed you were sat in the c1 connection, the most bizarre combination of colours being Black and the Red. On this auction visit I did notice the old guy in the cap bought a fiesta, he kept walking upto the car then ignalling to the auctioneer, find it quite interesting how people bid without trying to give the game away. Did think you may have bought the blue 107 with it being the right colour and door model, but guess with tight margins. Possible could sell those cars with no warranty and mark them up by £400 perhaps. I do not think prices will ever go down to pre covid levels mainly because of inflation. Showing me age my dad bought a 1980 escort new shape at the time for £3500. A year later traded it in for a VW Jetta and got £3900 on the escort. Once inflation is in prices remain inflated. Thanks for the great insight into the auction.

driven one those corsa 1.2 sports but i had an auto it was brand new with 2k on the clock. i was given it while my insurance sorted out few things and i say that auto ruined the car it change down unnecessary all the time. it love the red line and climb the slip road merge on to a duel the duel was only a slight climb it refused to change up to top gear till leveled out stuck in 4th out 6th at 5k rpm for no reason. worst thing it did another sight hiil on duel went to change lane the daft car changed to 3rd gear i had odd look passing someone at 5mph more and car was screaming. why could the daft computer thing i got torque i use it, my old diesel put foot down few sec later it pick up and go no issues no need to change down and this had less power and torque than the corsa, my current i20 1.2 put foot down it soon start to gain speed in quick enough fashion. was just no need for that auto to change down like it did or hold gears, 2nd day i decided if it wants to be daft screw it, foot to floor what it was not happy with. if it was diesel with that auto i feel it may been better and computer commands to change would be different but a 1.2 in a auto no way, it soon got through 20 liter fuel a manual prob would would got double the miles, but computer wanted to rev so i helped it by the end and funny thing is after driving it brand new car it may been the face lift one 20 plate think only thing i like was cruise control and i moved out under powered 70bhp 120nm 2007 fiesta 1.4 tdci basic spec, seats gave back issues, it was a new car i dread to think issues it have in 10 years with that auto as all the auto did want to abuse the engine what i did not need to do just stay in same gear as it had the power to do it and change when up to speed a diesel feel it would been better with auto but not the 1.2 petrol

Can't believe you didn't get the Ka Lee. £800 was a great price and you'd have sold it in days for £2000 or more.

Check spark plugs and coil packs, if that doesn't fix it then it will probably being an injector issue or the fuel pump on its way out. Also worth plugging in a scan tool and checking to see if there are any fault codes and make sure the sensors are all working. If its none of those things then the engine is likely ruined and beyond reasonable repair.

Curious, with the bloodbath that’s happening in the used EV market, is this pushing dealers to stock up on used ICE cars which is driving up prices? If that’s the case then used prices will only continue to rise for ICE cars as demand increases and supply tightens

I'll never understand why anyone would buy a diesel cabriolet. The noise would irritate the hell out of me every time I pulled away.

It's the private sales and the car needs a service , breaks and tyres and probably other bits . That means the price is way too much
