I started taking an antipsychotic as an adjunct to my antidepressant as well. Great decision, although I experience side effects. Agree that it’s good to ask your provider what else is out there! Speaking up helped me adjust my medication regimen, and I’m so glad I did.

I’ve tried both Abilify and Geodon when I had postpartum depression and they completely knocked me out. Thankfully I found a better regimen so I could care for my kids.

Abilify sucked! Also, rexulti made me dead inside. A year off all prescribed drugs and I am nearly recovered. I actually want to live now.

I would like to know what symptomology you were experiencing at 40 mg of prozac that made you think you needed to take something else? Having tried multiple meds and multiple combinations throughout the years…What was the actual cause to make you want something else? I'm also extremely intrigued By the fact that you saw an ad that 'if you don't ask for something else they might not recommend it'… Consumerism and advertising is deadly. Omg, and offering a drink to someone on meds? I know she said she wasn't a doctor, but I know enough to know how drugs and alcohol mix having taken them in confunction. I would never recommend a drink to a friend at work if I saw they were on meds. This whole f****** thing is a joke. I work in healthcare, and this is the problem.

Lots of people just haven’t had the right antidepressants. SSRIs beyond a few genuine clinical first-line indications for them (aka them being more than just a side-effect-friendly group of drugs) are some of the most useless psychotropics known to mankind. A lot of people would be better-suited to nortriptyline, phenelzine and bupropion but modern doctors prefer the glorified placebos. That’s why so many people walk away being disappointed at drugs that often don’t work properly. Suicide rates have been increasing steadily since the ’90s. I imagine the disproportionate amount of SSRIs (which by-and-large have been framed as the conventional norm compared to older medications) for people who need stronger medication is part of that increase.

Do you think taking advantage of the benefits of a medication ie. Prozac worth trading your sex life for? Being male I think it is, but females will cut you loose quicker than nothing if you can’t ejaculate without a helping hand regardless of how great a guy you are. I’d give anything for a compensation that didn’t have this side effect.

This doctor is a type of guy Kyle only is interested in dating, must have a “career” like a doc, handsome, dress well etc, educated, probably white too. God forbid he was a truck driver or some lower income guy, without “career”

I am not a fan of medications. I can’t function on them. I see my mom on an anti psychotic her face is all contorted lip smacking etc. she’s been on an antipsychotic for years it scares me she scares me. She forced these drugs on me as a teen. I hated them and feeling different. Childhood trauma was the root cause anxiety and depression are just symptoms I don’t want to end up like my “mom” she scares me and she looks numb. I hate psych and psychiatry.
