How sad - a lady felt unable to explore within herself, that which might express something of herself and find her response to that which she senses - as a fellow human creature. I wish her well - and hope she can feel what it feels like, when we embrace and live into, Ben Zander's phrase - 'The Art of Possibility'. As a musician and artist - what a joy to live into and explore, how things might be.........a choice we can all choose to make. Lovely lovely work - stunning - and what a great example to the lady enquirer - you saying, 'what might happen if I use eggshell enamel on the gel plate......' (I paraphrase). Thank you so much.

Very Nice. 👍 A high quality latex/acrylic house/wall paint is really not all that much different than acrylic artists paint. Artist acrylics likely have a higher pigment load and typically a higher viscosity. But the house paint "one coat" are actually decently thick. Many artists that do super large format works do use latex acrylic house/wall paint rather than the more expensive artists acrylic paints. Longevity and permanence is typically not an issue with art work on an archival substrate and for interior display. It may be necessary to add an artists acrylic retarder to fast dry latex acrylic wall paint but, doing that has no compatibility issues. They are the same family of paint.

I was thinking of using some acrylic water based house paint - so a very appropriate session. At art school we were encouraged to be ourselves and then judged on how we used our own ideas and techniques and it was the best experience of my life. I love your masks as they are your own. I’ve just cut out a ‘maple leaf ‘ shape out of an ice cream tub lid. They are not acceptable for recycling for some reason! Thanks for your enjoyable videos.

House paint is a legitimate art supply and has been for many decades! I liked the way your dark brown retained the brush marks, and the final result looks good. I just took a lesson in how hard it is to register if the paper is too small, no way of easily adding accurate registration bars. And no way to disguise the mistake…… I have more respect for your system each time I watch, so simple and effective, so thanks so much for the technical as well as the aesthetic. I also learned that cat hair and gel plates are not compatible!

I make most of my collage papers on the gel plate and freehand, but when you told us how you used paint to create collage papers, I tried it right away - had lots of fun with it, and was happy to have more collage options for my pieces - yay! But I do get where your viewer was coming from (who wanted to download your "famous scribbles" - 'cause they are very cool! I use latex house paint all the time; I get it from one of the big box stores, they sell it for under 4 bucks as a sample to try at home; and I purchase returned paint or mis-matched colors in the pint size - not the gallon size; been criticized about that from other artists but I don't expect my work to be around for all eternity :). Inspired by your video demo!

What fun to see you experiment. Really enjoyed this. I love the white pearl iridescent too, especially over dark background. I have the same black handled brayers (which I adore) and I soak mine overnight in 50/50 Murphy's oil soap and water (reusing the mix over many days) and next morning wipe with paper towel to get off the softened paint, then use a very soft nail brush and bar soap to get off the excess, they come out beautifully clean every time.
