Thank you for sharing your art and process, it is truly a gift to others. You are a wonderful teacher and get such a wide range of bold, rich, and unique results, many simply stunning. I’ve had trouble digesting design theory from recent intensive art instruction-it was remaining flat and inert-but watching your work has made much click into place and come alive. I know it has a lot to with the immediacy of gel plates and simply-shaped stencils, all of which seems to encourage more trial and error than painting. Seeing your decision making and positive, adaptive reactions is extremely helpful, reassuring, and inspiring. 🙏

This print is wonderful. The first layer provides such a neutral background for the second layer of color. The second layer shows off the design of the first, in turn. Great result.

I was really surprised by this print. I really liked your first pull, and thought your orandey layer would not work…. but it really does. I think your slight tearing or loss of layer is not to do with the drying time after you use the off white paint, but more to do with how well your blacks dried. However I like the areas of loss anyway, they add interest and contrast. One of my favourites of your prints, I know the circles are quite hard to achieve well and the colour choice just made it.

It's hard to tell via the PC screen, but the red /copper layer seemed to bring the work together...probably because of the "solid" areas. Another wonderful print to set your mind spinning.

Thanks for your kind comments! I am far far from the best, I am strictly low budget and I make do with what scant materials I have. But because of this I am forced to improvise!

Apparently the paper has been made in Arnhem since the year 1618 hence the name. If you ever come to the UK it would be worth visiting the city of Wells in Somerset with it's beautiful Cathedral and Bishop's Palace. I don't think you can visit St Cuthbert's Mill though where the Somerset paper is made but it's a beautiful place anyway.

Add this to my very favorites list. The first pull looked great. I especially liked the transparency of the black circles applied with the brayer. But the second pull is gorgeous. The movement of the lines in the background combined with standout colors of the second pull make for an outstanding print. Also the small orange geometric shapes on the left remind me of one of my favorite plants....the Chinese lantern.

The print goes to the edges nicely. Perhaps it is the lighter paper that lends an Oriental floating feel to the image.

Great piece-extremely contemporary and hip! Have you ever experimented with spray paint on a gel plate? I'm curious if it would wash off or if it would just end up ruining the plate.

thanks for the suggestion Dale. They do make a water based spray paint, or come to think of it, I could try to make my own acrylic mix with an aerosol.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It's stunning. Just a quick question: when I've tried using a black Sharpie, it stains the plate and is hard to remove afterwards. Does this happen when you use the Sharpie brush pen (which I haven't come across before, by the way)?

for stains baby oil on a rag or paper towel does the trick!

Sharpies are alcohol based, while Poscas are acrylic (water)based. They both clean up with baby oil and mild soapy water
