My apologies to Mr. Riddle or any other scientifically-minded reefkeepers, if my accounting of Mr. Riddle’s presentation is off the mark, in any regard. Did my best to explain the core of his thoughts.

Is he active anywhere but riches 2 rev? I'm conflicted by people we think are smart and educated in the hobby that just camp at that hell hole.

@@RobBzReef No idea. Didn’t realize he frequented the hallowed lands of Reverend Tree. lol.

@@kalamazoo_reefer that's the only place i've seen his concurrently placed info... i stand to be corrected of course. that does not invalidate his findings or data of course, just that it could limit the distribution of that information. as a person that actively disregards content from that shitty platform, i may miss out on some useful information. My choice, i do recognize that.

Great video, surface agitation can also significantly increase par very rapidly when convex areas of water are formed, basically creating a magnifying glass with water, It happens so fast most par meters won’t be able to detect it.

I've torched more corals than I cared to admit but I've used that negative reinforcement to change the way I place coral and the way I light my tank for sure. I've also learned some interesting things about how to acclimate some corals to par levels way above what normally is recommended for their genus.

I am digging deep on it. Tele shot me a dimmer that works with Quanta Pros. Plug and play variety. So I’ve got a couple of those on order. Will dial this baby in good.

Hey, thank you for talking about Dana’s talk at reef stock. I would’ve loved to listen to that and it’s too bad they didn’t record it. Who did you say you got the Quantro mounting clamps from? I’d be interested in seeing what they’re like. I have meso blues reef, crest and tropic Sun light bars. I really like the tropic sun color.

Actually Luca’s lights are not sold out, he just put them up for pre-order. Just ordered my helixes. Yay.

Sick! They showed “sold out” shortly after the website launched. He must’ve still been prepping.

I’m glad you may be getting a resolution to your burnt tips! When I saw your last video I almost commented that your lighting or phosphate may be high. That being said your coralline is out of control so prob not the phosphate lol. My experience with led par has been that anything 400+ causes different changes in structures. One of my millis gets about 450 and it’s practically a table-clumped shape not branching so much as the colony does. Most of my pieces are around 300-340 and they’re branching like crazy. I like the natural look you have but I’ve also heard (grain of salt) that whiter led spectrums can be more harsh than actinic par- no idea if that’s real. I run about 40% whites at peak. All blue isn’t for me lol. That being said, as we all have likely experienced, reefing is dynamic and not all of our issues boil down to one variable. Still need one of those unos lol.

@@vladimirwoodchester2616 Thanks for the thoughtful response! Yeah, I’m pretty sure I was just flat-out cooking my coral. Certain tanks, run certain ways, maybe be able to grow everything at 500+ par. I don’t think my tank is among them. Ha! I am anxious to see what the 300-par world brings me. Riddle’s research, combined with what others thought about the situation, led me to make this choice. As for phosphate, I’m a psycho about it. It never goes over 0.10.

Heck, the two Quantas put out 250 par combined, at the top of the scape. And the ReeFis are like light cannons. Haha. I’ve got ideas to spread it out and get my desired color back. Stay tuned.

250-300 is all you need for your sps. For mushrooms the reason they bounce is basically it’s getting burned by the lights and uses that as a self defense mechanism to block the light.

That’s where I’m at now. Fingers crossed. I think it’ll work out well.

Also you need higher nutrients to be able to handle par.

There’s people who say the opposite so are you really saying that because you know it or are you saying it because you’ve heard it? I tried to analyze everything like that.
@_TheRealDoe3 ай бұрын
@@xhongxina286 Corals generally thrive in environments with low to moderate levels of nutrients like nitrates and phosphates. However, when exposed to higher levels of light (PAR-Photosynthetically Active Radiation), corals may benefit from slightly elevated nutrient levels. This is because increased light intensity can boost photosynthesis in the symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae) within the corals, which may demand more nutrients to sustain the heightened metabolic activity. From chat gpt. I’ve heard this before a few times as well. I haven’t done any experiments tho.

how do you keep tangs and fox face fish in such a small tank? do you plan on removing them once they are big? i would love to keep these fish in my 40 gallon but everyone says the tanks too small.
