I dont know much about Super League. Why has it never been upgraded?

Cas need the new stand developing. They will struggle until then. Lets face it they cheated the hangman by botching the seats in the long terrace. I'm surprised IMG fell for it.

Jon Wilkin being very disrespectful to little towns that you never hear of! Those little towns such as Batley, Whitehaven, Widnes, etc... is where the very fabric, heart and soul of rugby league is!
@calkneafcy66532 ай бұрын
Not at all, only said that London was more attractive to a foreign market than the smaller lesser know town teams. Which is true
@martinpye5492 ай бұрын
Paul , I don't think that was what he was saying. His conversation was aligned to if London came to town in Canada, then it pricked peoples' ears up, because they know London. The Batley's, Whitehaven's, Bramley's etc are definitely the fabric of RL, with a strong and proud history. As somebody who grew up in Sydney , Australia... EVERYTHING was rugby league. But some clubs from the grass roots to the state league to the NRL were more attractive to " outsiders" that we are trying to drag into the game, not the die hard converted. I played at Hemel Stags, many years ago , and Bob Brown, Chris Tait et al would have got that club an A grading for sheer persistence and effort in Hertfordshire.
@kyleg48972 ай бұрын
@@martinpye549I reckon they’ll start merging teams in a few years, although I agree with the towns that formed rugby league as we know it in England, time has moved on and those clubs that were fortunate enough to move with that time have progressed and made super league / high championship. Other sides have struggled both on and off the pitch and have not been able to stay afloat on their own

It's a joke. How can Castleford be a grade A with that dump of a ground. There is now no incentive to modernise the tip

@@Springspan Maybe I’m old fashioned. I’ve watched at the old grounds and new grounds. The willows, Knowsley road, wilderspool, even back to Central Park. Classic rugby grounds closer to the pitch, better atmosphere. Better than a half empty stadium with no atmosphere, but with fresh seats and good toilets 🤣

Another bloody stupid idea from the RFL. Let sport be sport, based on merit on the field of play, without management consultant types deciding on who plays on which division.

Who made Wilkins the utter drivel artist that Gary Neville is. First of all saying tv money will stay the same.inside info have we? Every fan you talk to wants to do away with loop fixtures and admit two more teams 4 more fixtures. Toulouse don’t bring what Catalan do they have very little support,11 fans came for a grand final to go up. London experiment of 25 yrs has failed. A rejuvenated Bulls playing out of Bradford city’s ground or redeveloped odsall and York would make more sense. Doncaster if they could attract more fans in a great little stadium. London need a permanent stadium and fans that outstrips Huddersfield/salford especially Huddersfield whose fans are like a few rice crispies in a giant washing up bowl. Time for Sky to cough some more cash up in a sport they take for granted.
@TheDradge2 ай бұрын
Spot on pal. The addition of 2 more teams would make a 26+1 game season (including the Magic) like we have now without the random fixtures.
@PeacockRhino2 ай бұрын
Sky will only invest what they think they can get a return on. They don’t owe the sport anything. You’re right about Bradford and London though - Super League will wither away without a strong Bradford (heritage) and London (commercial appeal).

Oldham has a bigger population than Saint Helens population, & Warrington. The local talent creamed off from Oldham over the last 30 years is sickening. We just know those who like to play amongst themselves don’t want a club like Oldham emerging as a contender for Super league as it reduces the talent pool available to other SL clubs. Wilkin talking through his backside!!…
@tyroneclove68442 ай бұрын
As a fan of a grade A team I do empathise with the clubs without this status. But ultimately the game is in a dire financial situation and it needs to become more sustainable. I feel for the clubs that might not finish last / win the championship and are still relegated / not promoted, respectively. Beggars can’t be choosers and unfortunately UK rugby league is not a lucrative investment at present for Sky or any other media provider.

Absolutely terrible idea reducing the number of teams in SL. 1. Fan engagement and growth suffers. 2. You lessen the pool of professional players further depleting the sport and shrinking it. 3. We can see the model works somewhat for clubs to invest to be grade A but lower the available places and clubs like Widnes and Bradford will be destroyed as a force, the sport will become so stale. Mad, not looking at the bigger picture at all.
