But then again, not a lot of people see the greater importance of this issue. So, it’s a big IF on the part of the people.

In some south east asian nation there is this so called park connector and its fully landscaped, equiped with cctv and every 10 to 20 meters there is an LED lamp post. It links every town so people can actually walk and majority of the walking area are sheltered so even heavy rains u will not actually get wet. People are enjoying walking with their family, friends, mag shota🙂especially during the weekends. I hope Pinas can have this as well.

@@elyuwaley The urban planning of the Americans is good, especially Burnham's plans especialyl in street layouts. But when it comes to the attitude of being car-centric, namana natin un sa kanila
@elyuwaley5 күн бұрын
@imdark49755 күн бұрын

To me this is an equity issue as well as a simple engineering optimization issue. Prioritizing cars is essentially prioritizing the upper 40% of Philippine society that can afford cars neglecting the rest. Cars are space inefficient which is very bad in the dense cities where space is constrained. If we prioritize the carless, that benefits everyone not just commuters. That is because many car owners can opt to become transit commuters, either giving up the car or just using it less. Its a win for everyone, even for drivers since they will have less drivers in their way.

This is one of the problems in all the streets in the Philippines. I don't know why still in 2024, there are no bills passed that there should be a pedestrian side walk and a bike lanein all street in the Philippines. Moreso, they favor the malls to be in the national highways or be at a highway that causes more traffic , rather than passing a bill that will prohibit malls to be located near highways. Malls will still be malls and Filipinos will still go to malls regardless if it is far from national highways.

Their cool climates should encourage people to walk but the cities are not walkable. I remembered a time when the city hall of tagaytay would always remind lot owners that you can not build above 5 stories high, look at the ugly buildings and concrete structures all over tagaytay today. The city government should have required land owners to set aside at least 60 percent of the land to greenery but now its becoming a hot concrete jungle. In a study made by Singapore greenery can lower temperatures by up to 2 degrees.

The Philippines is only the size of Arizona, with an oversized population of 120 million population; why can't we copy Singapore and China in housing their poor populace? when will our local government units and the national government wake up? practices are unsustainable when we have flooding pollution issues with the air and waters, we blame anybody but ourselves....to house the Philippines' growing population is only viable through land reclamations by the sea while we reserve the virgin forests for the next generation of Filipinos, Filipinos what do you think? love from 12 million overseas filipino workers.
