Building rapport: 1) Adopt an RUA. (good attitude to establish common ground) 2) Synchronize with the person's body language + energy levels + tonality. 3) Use open questions (How/Why). (not 'yes or not questions') 4) Be an active listener. (what they say and how they say it) 5) Adapt to the person's sensory preferences (visual, auditory or kino)

@@ExplearningCo Hello, Mary Daphne. I don't know how to send a note to hello@explearning.co, I have to use VPN to access the KZbin. In China we use QQemail. It seems that QQemail does not send a note to hello@explearning.co

Funny paraphrasing what someone’s said is something I have always said, but when I do it people say that’s not what I said.

This is an outdated idea and creates a system of social pain! Please teach tools for people to be "less insecure" not "build rapport as a condition for meaningful dialogue". The latter MAY HAVE BEEN necessary in the past, but today, it is the doorway to discrimination bc its false logic is rooted in "I seek similarity & acceptance; if you offer it, it makes you safe & trustworthy". We need to stop judging someone when they challenge us from the get go or risk being trapped inside our circular (Penrose) staircase that "goes nowhere". The only reason we're uncomfortable & need "rapport" is because many simply get offended easily. Why? Because they're insecure! Hence the first sentence!
