It's actually a throwback to traditional beat-em-up games like golden axe, king of dragons, avengers and older vanillaware games like princess crown. The creator is a big fan of beat-em-ups and wanted to attempt to update the genre.

This game looks interesting and very team based. Especially the sorceress being a support class and the elf, fighter, dwarf, amazon, and wizard being more offensive. Will probably purchase just to have fun playing.

You dont need split screen for that.You can play local with 3 more people on the same screen.Its like the old school side scrolling beat em ups like Final fight or golden axe.

As you said, it's very team based. It can be viewed more as a multiplayer game than a single player. You can still play solo, or with NPCs.

I would have liked to have been able to simply keep the camera fully zoomed out. 4 player MP is a mess when the camera focuses too closely.

I haven't played this in a while, but as of February, I've been getting a couple of people join me. The AI is pretty sufficient, though, and sometimes even better because you're not at the mercy of the other players.

I like barbarian lady. I don't remember if they had default names or anything, because I renamed mine. She played like an old fashioned beat'em up game like Golden Axe.

I like that they pointed out Dwarf isn't as Slow as everything tried to make it seem. He definitely throws blows fairly fast for his size and mass. And he can hop around with his Body slam and rolling attack. Man, I've been wanting to use that guy since the launch trailer in 2011. SO CLOSE TO RELEASE!

There's not really a stat that increases chances for loot drops. There are usually items or equips that can give an increase in item chance.

Elf is the most fun but wizard is the most effective for me. I like the dwarf for melee as well.

I don't think of this game as a "6 character class game," but more a "6 character game with multiple routes." I'm talking at least 2 ways to play each character making it 12 different ways to play. You can spec into either Fist a' cuffs or weapons based for dwarfs. Pure arrows or pure dagger for the thief. etc etc. It's surprisingly deep for what it is.

Actually I think it has a combination of effects since crit is a separate stat you can raise om equipment. It definitely does effect criticals but I think it also effects the coin drops from your kills. It certainly does not effect treasure box contents.

i started with a dwarf reached lvl 15 swapped to the Sorceress and now lvl 63 :D that beast can wipe the screen clean :D oh and i am too playing on the Vita and i dont see all that lag that everyone is talking about

Well, Vanillaware's games tend to be more longer than older side scrollers. I know this one will, too. Also, I saw that Dragon's Crown will get a PvP system. So it's gonna be fun fighting with other people.

Luck = Better loot does actually make sense. If you are more lucky, you have a higher chance of getting better/rare loot. I know that isn't the way it works in the context of the game, but assuming that to be the case isn't totally unreasonable.

The sorceress is an extremely powerful character in a party setting, but her damage output is mediocre. Her power to cripple and incapacitate enemies is second to none and her protective magic and conjure food spell are both amazing support spells.

Her “backstory” is also very strong to hold up to so much pain and anguish, but we admire how upfront she is.

Persona 4, Muramasa Rebirth are awesome, and Killzone is also coming out. Don't forget remote play for PS4, your game library will get a lot larger at that point.

Clearly, they hadn't actually played the game yet since the Sorceress and the Wizard do not have a set element to attack with. It's completely dependent on their staff which element they use.

As far as I know, the Wizard, especially with his meteor spell, has the potential for dealing the most damage hands down. The part where you say "...have the most utility" is subjective though. So, is this a personal list of who you like the most, because strictly from a damage standpoint, I'm pretty sure it's wrong. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk. I'm just curious. I just got through playing normal with the wizard and was thinking about which class to choose on a new playthrough.

After the recent patch which heavily buffed the wizard and slightly nerfed the Amazon's damage output I would say the wizard if built right and exploiting enemy elemental weakness probably has the highest possible burst damage output of any character and is one of the top overall damage dealers on average. He is difficult to play solo and you need to understand elemental strengths and weaknesses. The amazon is a top tier damage dealer even after the nerf.

wow guess ill be using wizard last, cool he does more damage then sorceress but i love my loot, im playing with archer first, warrior and dwarf are cool i prefer more challenging chars, amazon looks interesting when her stats pretty much balance so she only really shines when she keeps hitting foes that sounds cool good challenge indeed.

LUCK DOES NOT AFFECT LOOT DROPS!! This has been fumbled and spread falsely by IGN in almost all of their Dragon's Crown videos. Atlus JP themselves on twitter specifically clarified that LUC increases Critical Hit Chance and Critical Damage Avoidance.

The Amazon can basically get back in to the fray quite easily and she has invincibility frames while using Brandish... that's what I mean by "utility"... Every other character has to evade attacks thus taking time away from dealing damage, the Amazon can do both at the same time... that's all I mean... and it's true. Elf has massive burst damage, Fighter can DPS and Tank quite well and the Wizard can nuke and use slow...which is nice, but takes a bit to set up. The Dwarf and Sorc I find useless.

Im getting Dragons crown on vita first, though i also would like it for the ps 3 so i could play it coop with friends and nephew at home, I will go with vita first for on the go bad ass side scroller action rpg, boss battles galore, and turning a boring shopping chore with the spouse into an amazing adventure LOL.

It's like castle crashers but there is a lot more to it. The combat system is much more varied and deep and it has complex RPG style equipment and character skill build systems.

This game have an amazing OdinSphere (PS2) atmosphere but i still prefer something less "picture above background" like Dungeons & Dragons - Chronicles of Mystara (the Steam remake of the memorable series from Arcade), Idk it's related to the overuse of light-screen and others effect that blur a lot and can be rly annoying.

This game is sweet, Using the dwarf rt now, he's the only character that can pick up enemies and throw them while jumping, or straight and even upward, dude is a tank with pretty cool moves. Next i want to use the wizard :D. One of the best vita games out rt now.

Question: ( i would really appreciate good answers ) How "open" is the game? So far all ive seen is just some areas where you fight enemies. Is this all what the game is? Just a collection of areas and screens with enemies? And what about the quest system? And is there a living world within the game? Like towns and people to interact and talk with?

The Warrior and Dwarf are easy (boring) melee characters and the Wizard is basically the same as the Sorceress minus the eye candy and luck. It's like the game wants me to play the female characters, and I don't have a problem with that at all!

just my opinion: just heard of it and not played. I like how the level designs sort of reminds me of a game called comix hero if I'm thinking right for saga and saga's collection's on ps2. the classes are well thought out but, yes the character animation is not truthfully. First: Too much muscle for those in question duh!?!. Second: again too much disproportion OK, tiny heads, large chests and/or torsos, outfit/clothing failures. Third:vary poor thought putout in boss designs OK, one:a bird with a woman's torso? fail two:a big three headed beast or a snake, ram, and i forget the third head:originality:7/10 creativity:4/10=not bad=7.5 or 7 and a half stars tops. But, all that said still i think it's an appealing game also, reminds me of the golden ax series. My top character in design and playability i think would be the elf, well designed and well thought out all things applied and i like archery as well.
