Today we are going inside an abandoned $30,000,000 mansion that has sat vacant since 2005 when the owner that built the property decided that him and his family didn't need to live in a castle. The mansion features a cinema, an indoor pool, a gym, and many more features.

I'm a retired antique and art dealer in Beverly Hills and used to conduct estate sales at properties like these. I often found these homes were impractical to live in and the homeowners would live in just one wing of the house and seldom venture into the other parts. They also needed a full time staff to maintain properly and their utility and maintenance bills were astronomical. Moral to the story: more isn't always better.

@@Dreame521 Well as a friend of mine used to say "$ money may not buy love or happiness but it sure as hell puts you in a better bargaining position". Speaking from personal experience thats certainly true. But the real problem is that many people don't understand the difference between pleasure which is only temporary thrill triggered by acquiring something and happiness which is a sense that you have everything you need and long term contentment based on the knowledge you don't need anything more. When it comes to good taste Oscar Wilde said it best. You don't want to be someone who knows the price of everything but value of nothing!

This house is AMAZING. It is full of "dream house" features- without being tacky or cliché. No, the designer has extremely refined taste & a brilliant talent to bring SO much together without straying from its classic charm. The details that went into its planning are evident, making it just stunning.

These mansions could EASILY be turned into a mini hotel for getaways. A fancy bed and breakfast. The kitchen could easily sit several tables and chairs or even some booths. With a nice candle lit for dinner. The pool is bigger than some hotels. A nightly movie showing for guests. The bar room with a pool table and some games. 4 laundry rooms and the super large closet to store clean linens. A library, workout area by the pool. This is what people look for when booking hotels for vacation. Instead we tear down acres and acres of land, leaving wildlife homeless .if only we could invest back into an investment..it could be so amazing. Especially stuff like this, the detail of the work. Not something you see everyday. Too bad they are built where not much is around but some people like simple, quiet getaways . We stayed at a hotel yearssss ago that was like a home transformed into a hotel for a wedding and it was seriously the most unique and fun place i have ever stayed.

I owned and ran a large bed and breakfast, with a large house, the basic cleaning, maintenance issues and costs of service make it very difficult to run for 12 months of the year. One bad season of trading can make day to day operations difficult… I sold it at the right time, bigger houses are harder to sell so buyers beware, owning big house isn’t what it’s cracked out to be

I actually LOVE the Mediterranean style of this house. The bedrooms are all gigantic!! And the pool room was beautiful. But I too fell absolutely head over heels for that library with the little lofted area and huge fireplace. I hope someone buys this house and just restores it to its former beauty. Don't fully renovate it, and definitely don't demolish it!!! Loved this one Banks

From $30m to $4m is bargain for the size. The upkeep of that place is going to be hefty! Loved the high ceilings however the size of it made it so impersonal. Loved the kitchen area could be a really great space to congregate. The library was gorgeous that’s where I’d be mostly.

I recall growing up that the house across the street was a two story large Victorian…large to a small kid that is. My little friend lived there and they kept most of the House blocked off because they couldn’t afford the heating and cooling costs...and the old house was not insulated. We rarely got to see those blocked-off rooms, but there were about three months total out of the year that the pocket doors were opened and we got to see the antique furniture and decorations. I can’t imagine how much it costs to keep this place up.

This is problem with mansions. My Brother had a mansion, but it was built by our Father who was a master craftsman, taking many men and over 3 years to built. It cost over $7500.00 in utilities. My Brother just passed away. It sits on 62 acres with tennis courts, pools, twelve car garage, basketball court and a home for the caretaker on it. It is 12,000 square feet. No one else could afford the house, although his kids could, being left millions of dollars but they don’t want to live in the area. It is in the country. I know they will have trouble selling it.

At 8:30 that appears to be a gentleman's room (or cigar room).. and yeah those "coffered ceilings" are amazing! That wrought iron everywhere is beautiful too (especially at the lift/elevator. The downstairs almost looks like it was supposed to give a Tuscany streetscape type vibe. That sunkin' library is beautiful!! They didn't cut corners on this house - all the beautiful woodwork, the archways with the post & beam architectural design, custom windows/doors, stonework inside & out. Was this a corporate estate/home or a Bed & Breakfast? Since I'm in real estate, I see houses all the time & rarely do I get house envy.. but this house? Oh yeah.. Either you have big balls slipping into that house, or you know the boys over at Higgins Group real estate. The home sold for 7,750,000 million last year, way less than owner Stan Cheslock built it for $21,000,000 mil. Homes of this size and grandeur are a thing of the past. As you will discover, basic sized to giga mansions, in the lower contiguous 48 states, are a hard sell. Unless the mansions are in Bel Air, Southamptons, Aspen and Palm Beach. This is where the 1% can mingle with their equals frequently without fear of judgement and retribution. Gated and insulated from the real world, it's perfect for first entertaining, second for large families. Often times they lose millions on their purchase.

I would love to own a home like this, hosting friends n family or even renting rooms like Airbnb just meeting new people. Part of me wonders if the idea of tiny is really pushed by the elite to condition us to live minimal once agenda 31 is achieved. Don’t always fall for what u see as a simple concept. Just saying.

That place is absolutely insane. I think the master bedroom is as big as my house. Downstairs was a little sad with the mold growth. Someone has to be taken care of the pool and the fans being on to keep circulation going. Thanks for this awesome place.

@@itypedmynamehere1807 there’s a difference between abandoned and vacant. The word you’re looking for is vacant. The house has been vacant since 2005. It’s definitely 100% not abandoned....

@@potc420 yeah, there is no way in heck that the pool would stay that crystal clear for 16 years. That pool is still being chemically treated and the fans blowing is to keep the air circulating to prevent the mold growth from spreading. Damp equals mold. Cobwebs honestly in a property don't mean anything. I get huge ones if I'm not in my basement every few days. People don't realize just how quick spiders build webs.

The bedrooms are insanely big. Too big, but everything in that mansion is big. My favorite room is the library. I'd have armchairs with ottomans everywhere. A booklover's dream. The basement is a great use of such a large space. To turn it into a European themed street scene complete with street lamp and a cinema! My dollhouse collection could definitely find display space in this enormous home. I think my grandkids would love to visit their grandma all the time. I'd have to hire someone to help me clean it, definitely!

🔄☮ Bankz, its a bit confusing to picture the layout of the building, when you cut across rooms and then backtrack into other rooms, whilst you edit out steps of how you got from a to b. Some other explorers go in a clockwork or systemic right, to right etc. Just a heads up, that it may be more smooth to follow, if you have some sort of system. Thank you for the cool tours!

I’ll say this...growing up (with wealthy) parents, had a negative impact on my life. (I worked 40 hours a week, at 12. No joke) I had anything I wanted, because I bought it. I was hated, for my parents accomplishments. I have nothing to do with them. Money isn’t shit. It turns people into snobs. It makes you a worse type of human. Be humble.

Love this comment! I have worked in and/on people's homes for a very long time, and it always seems like the biggest and fanciest ones are void of so many important things, like love, and humility, and general kindness. People in that position get so used to being waited on, and delegating endless chores and upkeep on their various stuff to their minions. This house in particular looks like a bloated waste of effort, created by vanity and some need to show off to others. I agree completely that at a certain level, wealth poisons people. When you can literally have anything you want, whenever you want it, you're in a strange and dangerous place, and it ruins a lot of people.

That house was absolutely bananas! Love the architecture! Fantastical interior too much of a house for me I’m more of a tiny house person. A person can get lost in there. A big movie mogul I can see living in there. If they got it for 4 million it’s a steal. Thank you so much! Love from me out in California 💜🤟🏻🍀😎🇺🇸
