Urban Exploring With Kappy

Urban Exploring With Kappy

7 жыл бұрын

This house was built circa 1875, at which point Alexander Graham Bell ( the creator of the telephone, inventor) acquired the property rights in 1879 from the neighboring Mchenry estate, and then was purchased in 1935 by multiple others throughout the years! Although the architects name is unknown, the designer may have been a Baltimorean because the Bell family was originally from Baltimore! I really hope this house is restored and gets a loving owner!!
(At the very end of the video explanation) I visited this location to film 2 times and during the first visit on the top floor we came across a door that was firmly shut and seemed to have no way to open it! But upon my second visit we came up to the room and the door was wide open as if someone was holding it shut last time! so we assumed a homeless person may have been staying here!
I DO NOT STEAL OR VANDALIZE, I only take pictures and video and only go in if it's already open , I do not give out locations to prevent further vandalism to these historic places!
Thanks for watching everyone. Hope you enjoy it! Make sure to like and sub if you haven't already so you know when my next videos out, Thanks!!!(:

Just a suggestion....I think it is so much better when you don't turn the camera off and on so much! It's nice to know exactly what we are looking at and the layout of the home. It is not always clear if we don't actually take the full walkthrough with you. "TikiTrex" is a great example, I think, of the best way to show an urban explore.

I suspect this was a foreclosure. (Too many kid's things to be old people that died and the yellow tags in the bathroom were from the bank "winterizing " the place so pipes wouldn't break.). Often the bank will have someone throw out all the owner's things, weird that there is also a lot of stuff still inside. Often the owners leave a lot because they try and stay as long as they can and then have to get out really quickly when the sheriff shows up. Then of course the vandals always seem to find these houses and destroy them. You would think that with Bell having been one of the owners ( and the cool mish mash of house styles ) someone would have been able to get a historical grant to help pay for the fix up. The skinny back stairs were most likely the servants stairs for the original house. The one story addition was weirdly added on but it was definitely not Arts & Crafts like I thought! That whole addition was obviously new with those cathedral ceilings but they did make an effort to try and blend it in to the original house. The asshole vandals deserve to be trashed for ruining what was a wonderful, salvageable house. Now it would cost a whole lot more to fix it! This is really so sad, a lot of love was spent on this house with the great addition and all of the great kid decor. If the greedy banks had just helped out people like these owners who probably just lost their jobs in the recession, this house would have still been worth something to the banks in the long run and these people would still have the home they loved!

The spare room connected to the girls bedroom with the sleeping beauty book was called a sitting room. Women had it attached to the bedroom like men used to have a study. They would read or sew there often with their servant or other female family members not children though usually. Translation that’s an old house. In Europe in really old times sitting rooms allowed heat to stay in a smaller room and a woman to socialize with close females.

Graffiti is the lowest form of expression. It's like raping someone or hacking a person's private computer. But I guess you already know that Kappy, thank you for not violating the properties you explore.

I’ve often wondered what the graffiti-ers would feel if someone did this to their house. Beautiful exterior! That’s for the video, Kappy.

I can tell that this home was gorgeous in it's day. I hope someone swoops in and gets it before it's too damaged to restore it. Google it's address and see what comes up. Zillow, Realtor.com? sites like that should have info on it. You may even be able to call a realtor to find out who owns it. If you find out who owns it, you may be able to convince them to protect it better, and clean it up

It is amazing to think of all the tele-communications companies that are out there today that have a connection (No pun intended) to this house and it's history to where they are today. Sadly none of them have ever stepped forward with a effort to preserve it. Granted it would be a large cost but worth it alone in promotional spot lighting for decades on the company that stepped up and did it. Or if 2 or 3 companies went in on the process and project it would be very feasible to do. Verizon, Sprint Metro and others probably think the Chicken came before the egg too! LOL

I see no reason for someone to go into a house that is not theirs and spray paint everything or tear it all up. People need to raise their kids better if they think it is ok for them to do this
