Exploring an old mining town cemetery in the desert - Goodsprings Cemetery

Today's adventure takes us out of the Midwest and takes us southwest to the land of deserts and ghost towns. We end up in Goodsprings, Nevada, a good 45-minute drive from Las Vegas. Before you get to the town, you will come upon a small cemetery along the side of the road called Goodsprings cemetery. This 130-year-old cemetery is filled with an unknown number of graves because, back in the mining days, there were many mining accidents and those that died were buried in unmarked graves. So come join is as we explore Goodsprings Cemetery.

What a fantastic video! That was so interesting and boy are you right those crosses would never last in the Midwest! 😊 It’s incredible to see the difference in cemeteries in Nevada versus where I live. Such a fascinating video! It’s great to be able to see cemeteries in different parts of the country. I found it interesting the burial sites that where surrounded by the wood and wire fencing. They seem randomly placed. Were you able to see any pattern or reason why they did this with certain plots? That story of the guy cheating at cards, then getting shot, is right out of a movie! Or I suppose the movies are right out of history. :) I really found those large markers made out of that striated stone beautiful. I’m sure it’s made from local materials. Have you looked into that? It’s really stunning. This was definitely one of my favorite videos as it’s a glance into a section of the country that is completely foreign to me. Great video! Keep up the great work!

If someone died and they didn't have a shovel or were unable to bury them, they would lay them on the ground and pile loose dirt and stones on them. The fences were built to keep animals from digging up the body.
