Yeah, thats one theory. The other is to protect girls from king. In the ancient time, king or princes used to go to the village and flirt with girl often going inside house. If the door is small, king had to bow down while entering and they did not want to bow down which prevented them from entering inside houses.

GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa there 's a few Lord shiva's temple in panauti where people gather inside temple and worship him with lots of pot smoking bcoz people believe that lord Shiva was a pot smoker himself,we even have a holiday in the name of lord Shiva called (shivratri) which just passed 2 weeks ago btw,in this day people go to the biggest Hindu temple called "pashupatinathi"in Kathmandu and smoke weed all day and night, lots of foreigners go there as well, to take pictures and make videos and stuff like yourself.

This is a wonderful video of a town I visited in 2012-13, especially to see a Nepalese village off the main tourist track. The temple and adjacent museum were highlights. I was sold a ticket there to a New Year's Eve campout in the mountains, hosted by the local small business youth group. They proved a need for marketing and sales training, as I was the only ticket buyer! Fortunately, I met two young men there who helped the old man up and down the steep campsite, and one of them, fatherless along with his older brother, became like sons to me, and are making their family proud in university and professional employment. When visiting Nepal, don't miss Panauti - a unique experience. Read more REPLY

I don't know if I'd call anything 'bad'-- just different way of seeing or a new travel adventure! Ultimately it teaches me more about a place so I can appreciate on a deeper level. 😁😁 Bad is like getting robbed. Anyways I love Nepal and it's warm and generous people. It's made me the solo traveler I am today. ❤️

Indra is not not king of "gods". He is king of "dev" translating roughly to deities. There are 33 deities described in Rig Ved.Each deity is ascribed to a particular force of nature. For example,Indra is deity of rain,Varun is deity of water. In initial Rigved,Indra is described both as Cheif deity as well as king of kings, and there is no concept of "God" per se.So practically, people just worshipped natural forces. In later part of Rigved,to be precise 10th chapter (roughly), Concept of God has been introduced (in a verse which is perhaps most popular of all Rig Vedic Verses). It is to be noticed that Rig Ved is THE oldest religious book used even if you go by "western scientific standards" and is in use since even before writing was discovered.
