And he doesn't upload exclusively videos where he catches monsters or a ton of fish. He'll still upload a nice relaxing video like this where he doesn't catch much but he still takes us on the journey to see a beautiful area he fishes. I appreciate that.

Most underrated fishing channel on KZbin. Interesting to see how much farther along in spring we are here, the trout are moving on and all I've been catching is rock bass, blue gill and a friggin' gold fish.

Thanks Steve! This footage is from early last week so the leaves are really starting to come in now. I’d like to go back to some of these spots now that it’s warmed up, unfortunately there’s a lot of wind in the forecast the next week and the pike and catfish are calling me too.

Sitting in my office in the city, and when I watch this video, I can smell the air, feel the grass underfoot, hear the ghosts...It is videos like this that get me through the grind until the weekend. Thank you for what you do, man. Your videos literally make life better, and that isn't something you can say about most of KZbin.

The scenery plus the peace and quiet alone was well worth the effort, nothing beats a good old nature walk in the woods, add some fishing and you have a perfect day, I loved the ghost tree part, ty very much for sharing.

I remember exploring and fishing from shore a lot in my life up into my 30's. That was almost 40 years ago. This brought back good memories. I used to catch a lot of crappies from shore this time of year. Thanks for the video.

Hey Matt, thanks to watching your videos my wife and i both bought kayaks this year. just waiting for a little warmer weather. but till then we took our boat out and after watching you i knew that a spot looked good. and sure enough i got 3 largies and my wife got one. all released as season doesn't start here in mich til the 23rd of may. besides they were too small. but it was fun to catch. thanks again. sorry post is so long

I've got the Kastking telescopic 7'8" mh fast action with a Shimano SLX DC, the 30lb braid and the 20lb Fluorocarbon leader & I bought the green 8" snake 🐍 lure for giggles 😃 All I need now are your river & lakes in Florida. Keep up the good work.

Did something similar just last week, flew into my childhood town, took a tiny telescopic rod, brought up small Rock and Smallmouth bass from my childhood river. Super nostalgic.

I have that rod/reel combo and completely agree. I used the reel once before replacing it. It’s really handy to keep in the back of my Jeep when it’s still a little too cool to have the kayak out

That pretty much sums up my early spring around here. Lol. I do a ton of hiking and fishing in our wildlife refuge and I get skunked a lot early in the year. Things have warmed up here in southern Oklahoma and I can actually catch some fish! Glad to see that even great fishermen like you struggle from time to time. Enjoyed the video!

I grew up just a couple of miles from this particular state park.......I’ve explored every inch of it.....so peaceful this time of year. It was cool seeing your day in the park and recognizing the same spots.

Matt: Love your content. I fish vicariously through you. Unfortunately, because of rheumatoid arthritis, can no longer fish. From Ontario, (currently living in Tennessee) and spent most of life fishing northern Ontario lakes. My PB for largemouth is 7lb. 11oz. PB for smallmouth is 6lb. 4oz. and primarily did evening fishing using top water (hula popper). Wish I was able to join you some day.

Growing up in PA in the 60s-70s, there was only one nesting pair of bald eagles in the entire state. They've made a remarkable comeback. Still, my heart skips a beat when I see one.

I backpack fish often. Definitely use something to protect the the tip of those collapsible rods because they are very fragile.

Telescoping rods are underrated. I have fought in monsters on tiny rods with Spiderwire more times than I can count. Some wise company should send you a higher quality rod to use, but it's cool watching someone try one at all. I use them in my travels quite often. So much so, that I have a set for freshwater and a set for salt.

This guy is an absolute classic! And, there was also this kind of weird, eerie vibe, reminiscent of a fishing version of The Blaire Witch Project going on as well...especially with all those still-bare trees he was trudging through, even including a "Ghost Tree"...too bad he didn't hook into a jumbo-sized crappie, or two...I really wanted to see that Walmart Eagle Claw telescopic rod prove its mettle!

You always have great videos. It's beautiful where you live. I would love to see more exploring videos. If there's that many lakes where you live it would be awesome to see you find the hidden spot with monsters living in it

Wow. 2:04 A place like this in California would have all kinds of people around it no matter what time you show up. I envy other places that haven't clearly been trampled through by people that don't care about how they effect the nature around them. It's Not Everyone, but there are enough of them to leave an Unsavory mark seemingly wherever they go.
