Wow, Braga is so beautiful!! So sad we missed it during our road trip. That Library was amazing with the tile work on the inside. Looks like you had lovely weather for strolling through those beautiful gardens. Thank you sharing the beauty of Braga with us, we will definitely be making a stop there the next time we are in Portugal! Your friends, Debbie and Stijn

We love that you covered that postcard process! We always think "we should send a note" and seldom do, so it's great to learn what it costs in different regions of the world. Braga looks like such a beautiful area to explore!

Thank you for your lovely comment! We used to send loads of postcards but now it's just to a few family members. It's amazing how difficult it can be to find postcards nowadays... we went into 5 souvenir shops in Praia da Rocha before we found these ones! We actually made a Postcard Challenge video when we were in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan in 2019... that seriously was a epic challenge as was during Eid and everything was closed!😁😀 Thank you for taking the time to comment! ~ Mandy

Once again Mandy and Lee well done. I have watched many vlogs on Braga and read trip reports, but I find that you take it to another level. You show people the things they will be seeing and passing by. You provide prices and your opinion. It is not about instagramable spots and flowery dresses or the biggest and best or most expensive. It is about real life. You also slow travel like we do, so we were interested to know that you spent five days in Braga. Most people do it as a day trip and I was planning at least three days! I love the Magnolia flower. Yes, what a beautiful perfume - vanilla iceream. I missed the name of the shopping centre you ate at. Could you post the name? No one else has mentioned it - well done. I guess POs around the world are diminishing, like banks. Even though you may not go into every historic building or museum, you always provide some interesting and essential information. You have shown me more about Braga than any other vlog or trip report. Just remember that the masks block some of your words so wherever possible remove them just to make your comments. I guess the Libraries also have free toilets:) . I think ill leave the Francesinha alone.

Thank you so much for your very kind comment, Christine! It is so wonderful to hear that you find our videos so informative! The shopping centre is called Braga Shopping, and is a great place to go for a good value lunch menu, and is always full of locals. We love wandering around new places and seeing new sights. We don't go into many museums anymore as have been to hundreds and remember very little from them. Thanks for the reminder about the masks... not long hopefully until they're no longer required in Portugal! We really appreciate your lovely comments and always look forward to hearing from you! ~ Mandy

Thanks, Christine. I'm glad you found it useful and informative. We like to spend a good amount of time in each place we visit and try to explore in depth. 5 days was great for Braga. We wanted to go out to Guimares but didn't make it in the end. The weather wasn't great unfortunately. The shopping centre is just called Braga Shopping and faces the main square. We entered via a side door I think. Hope you enjoyed your stay there as much as we did. 👍 ~ Lee

I recently discovered your videos and really like them. We are also frugal travelers and like to experience more than just the big touristy sites. We plan to visit Portugal in October - if the Delta variant doesn't destroy our plans. We were planning to spend time in Porto and Vigo but now want to include Braga. Have you spend time in Galicia or maybe you are headed there soon? I look forward to seeing more from you guys. Very informative. And thanks for showing us how to eat frugally.

Hello Thomas. Thank you so much for your lovely comment - it's exactly what we hoped to do, to be able to show fellow frugal travellers just how easy it is to travel on a budget and have a great time! Fingers crossed you make it to Portugal in October... just keep in mind that the climate up north is similar to the UK so it could be chilly with rain... that's why it's so lush and green there! We came through Galicia on our FlixBus from London to Porto, and hopefully we'll go back and explore some day. We're planning to be in Portugal for a while yet, and we hope you enjoy the videos to come. Thank you for taking the time to write, we really appreciate it! ~ Mandy

Love your videos :) I was curious how about hot it gets in Braga during the summer? The 80's or 90's (F) or....?
@FrugalTravellers Жыл бұрын
Glad you have enjoyed our videos. 🙏. It was quite cloudy and dull for the whole week we were there in Braga during the summer which I think is quite rare. I imagine it could get into the 90's at times but it's definitely cooler and more temperate than the south of Portugal.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! We really hope that our videos show people just how easy it is to travel on a budget and have an amazing time! Unfortunately we were in Braga when things were still restricted, so we couldn't actually browse the shelves, but had to ask the librarian for a specific book. Aw we miss Portugal already! How much longer are you planning on being there for? Braga looks like an easy ‘liveable’ place if you get me? - an easy transition from an English village or town, for people who may be a little nervous to travel/move abroad. We love Portugal and will definitely return for sure! Xx

Hi there! I don't blame you for missing Portugal - I think it's such a liveable country wherever you go 😀 I know what you mean about Braga though - we met a few people in our guesthouse who had chosen to move to Braga because it is such a quiet and safe city. We're planning to be here for quite a while longer as have started housesitting again... which is such a brilliant way to explore places we'd never have visited ourselves. We've spent the past month housesitting near Caldas da Rainha and Óbidos, so were able to visit those two lovely places.
