I was in Beijing the last two weeks, visiting from San Francisco. For first week we stayed in a Hostel in MianHua HuTong, saw firsthand how ordinary people jammed many people into a tiny house in Hu Tong. It is so different from the typical affluent lives tourists usually see. On our last day we visited 798 Art Zone. It was quite an experience. We saw a cute t-shirt with English: The Hutong Clan. Why would it be frowned upon? All cultures and forms of art are popular and encouraged in China. Hip-hop, krumping, break dancing and rapping/trap music are all very popular.
