I love how Dan Hurd has simpler and more sensational videos that are awesome for anybody to watch, and you have the more technical and in depth (no pun intended) videos that go into way more detail on things. It makes for an awesome combination because Dan gets me interested and learning about what is going on, and then you satisfy my itch to know even more! You to are a perfect combo, each doing the type of video that the other isn’t and it creates a perfect package every time!

that PAPR setup has gotta be nice in a mine. never considered it for that application strangely (I'm a welder, so we have the clear shield version for grinding) Also, I love that hesitation when you hopped down and said you were going to start mucking for him and he clearly thought it was for the camera when he hesitated going back with the chipper. Nah dawg, Jason's here to WORK! I love it, too many mining shows make way more of mining than it is. there's something zen about just digging a hole that pays the bills . Keep up the amazing work! 20:48 I love their track setup. smart using a big pully on a steel band like that. that thing probably rolls like honey on that setup

Put some high intensity ultrasonic warblers around the entrances to the mine and that should keep out anything other than rattlesnakes [not sure if it bothers them or not], although it will also keep out bats, so people might not like that idea...

@@Porty1119 but can you get the permits to reopen an old mine? ive been studying the mining sites near me that have been closed for many years and recently I came across a F.S. warning that it is illegal to prospect on an old mining site. It also warned that these old mines are historical sites that must be preserved as they are.
@Porty1119 Жыл бұрын
@@julielortz670 We've reopened two past-producing mines in New Mexico in the last few years and run sampling programs on two others. Permitting for small mines isn't a very big deal. The only issue with prospecting old mines would be if the mine is on patented (private) ground or the claim is held by another party.

If they heap leach, all of the copper can become economically viable for them.
@Porty1119 Жыл бұрын
Provided it's oxide (or chalcocite), leaching with sulfuric acid raffinate would work well. The vein looks weathered enough that oxide is a real possibility. They could then plate the PLS onto tin cans to make what's called cement copper, if any scrapyards nearby would buy it in that form.

Mining Gold on a small scale like this seems so labor intensive and so much dirt has to be moved to get so little Gold. Must feel good to hit a Gold Vein where it becomes extremely profitable.
@paulcallicoat7597 Жыл бұрын
The old timers in the big mines would high grade close to the time of paying the investors in order to not have them divest the shares. Many of the small mines that high graded have left lots of gold in the tailings. When cyanide was discovered many mine dumps were put through the process to recover millions in gold and other metals.
