Hello everyone! In this video I continue the Pyeonghwa Nuri Bike Path (평화누리자전거길) which follows the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) between South and North Korea. On this ride I start at Yeonmi-jeong Pavilion (연미정) on Ganghwa-do (강화도) which has views into North Korea, heading back East onto Korea’s mainland where I needed to find a place to camp for the night. I found a beautiful place to camp right next to a water reservoir, and it gave me the rest I needed to continue the second half of course 1, and then course 2 of the Pyeonghwa Nuri Bike Path. Thanks for watching and enjoy!

Love these videos mate. Lived in Korea before myself for 4 years and this is the most authentic Korea based YT channel I’ve come across. I know the travel KZbinrs have gotta tick of Hongdae and Myeongdong when they visit but as you say, these quiter countryside areas represent the real beauty of SK imo

Thanks so much @bobby_thompson, really appreciate the kind words! I remember my first trips to the countryside with some travel groups here (Seoul Hiking Group and Adventure Korea) and being blown away by how beautiful Korea is for its size. Agree with you that it's one of the best parts of Korea! I think as Korea gets more popular as it is right now, more people will start to explore more of the country!

There are so many amazing Buddhist Temples here @Mudskipper9876 that are barely documented on video. Hope you can make it here to check them out! We will be traveling around Korea documenting them a lot in the future, but if you are coming soon then definitely check out Weoljeongsa Temple (월정사) naver.me/GqBsNwaL It's incredibly beautiful in the middle of the forest! Also thanks a lot for the support and the anniversary wishes!

Great video! Looking forward to the next part. As you went through that farmland, I suddenly remembered all the tank traps and choke points that used to be all over the countryside up there. Not right up next to the border, but south of it a bit. I hadn't thought of those in years, and now I'm wondering if they're still around. I need to check it out!

Thanks so much Mike! Wow that must have been really interesting to check out. I saw some tanks on standby in bunkers in the mountains north of Paju which was really interesting to see, especially as someone who hasn't been around real tanks before. I was trying to be as careful as possible with my camera (I probably filmed a few things I wasn't supposed to), but it was really interesting to explore!

This was a great video, I think one of my favourites thus far. To me, the area you rode is what I think of when I visualize Korea -- the winding roads/paths through farming communities, the earthy aromas, those two-wheeled motorized farm wagon things! love it! That is definitely a route I want to do. Can't wait for the rest of your ride. Hope you had a nice anniversary. Peace ✌ ps. nice dinner. Now you're at my level.

Thanks so much Alex! The countryside is one of the best parts of Korea, and it's so interesting to see all of the characters working hard in the hot weather with a huge smile on their face when you greet them. You should check out courses 1-4 and finish in Imjingak if you want to try it someday! Also thanks for the anniversary wishes! Haha you sound like a man of class! 🧐😁

Hey you gave me a few tips a few months ago on South Korea, in the chat. Just an update, I went to visit for around 10 days in January. Your videos, on learning some key customs really came in handy. The stay was amazing, but I think I did too much in those 10 days, I became really acquainted the subway which is surprisingly far more efficient, and easy to navigate than New York subways. During my trip, I went to Lotte world, lotte tower, a really awesome indoor beach bar called urban beach, I saw Dracula the play, went to Nami Island, Got to take the monorail up there. Visited the financial district, went to culture village, the meerkat cafe. the starfield library, and took a train to Busan. Had sooo much rice wine. My favorite part of the trip was the Lantern Festival, on top of walking the wall, + a ghost tour. Next time I want to camp, and definitely spend more time in Busan. I also got to win a few claw games which was pretty cool.

Hey @jonathanacolon2012 I'm really glad to hear that you had a great trip to Korea! Sounds like you did some really fun things, and rice wine (Makgeolli) is pretty awesome eh? Next time definitely give camping a try in the countryside! You can take a bus to the spot in this video if you don't have a bike, and there are plenty of other spots as well. I'd check out the Camping in Korea Facebook group if you are interested: facebook.com/groups/780570858730203 Take care and thanks again!

It's worth a look for sure! I've finished it all now, and I'd recommend riding until Imjingak at the least. The section after Imjingak. up to Baekmagoji can be skipped if needed, but the finish is about 25 km away by subway so you can take it back if needed.

@lostthenfound 12 күн бұрын
@@johndebes1060 this bike path has almost no information on it for some reason, but you can find the maps for the bike routes on Naver Maps and Kakao Maps. The physical stamps weren't in the booths either. There is just an app that barely works to collect the stamps along the way haha. I'm sure once the path is complete along the entire DMZ they will update it.

What is your experience camping in the pagodas over all? Have you faced any complaining when camping in one? On my trip we didn't dare to setup up our tent inside one, so set it up on the outside since we didn't know the etiquette regarding them. Would be glad to hear your experince :).
@lostthenfound
@lostthenfound 14 күн бұрын
Great question @p0skar1! I too avoided camping in pagodas for quite a while here, but I ended up seeing other people do it without problems, so I copied them and I've had no problems either. I just make sure that I setup late when nobody is using the area (except this one I was in the middle of nowhere so I thought it'd be okay), and clean up early in the morning so others can use it who are passing by.
