Good explanation but from time to time I thought that the answers were not accurate. It might be just that he may have not been able explain it fully. Eg. Product Owner is not business polarized or system polarized but instead, his job is to get vision and requirements from client or Product manager and refine backlog into small sets which dev team can consume. He is business oriented period. System work is supposed to be handled by dev team or architect. Good approach though, can be really helpful for someone who doesn't know anything about agile
@izenbridge

Thank you for your view, i see your view more aligned with SAFe way of doing it since we have someone called Product Manager in SAFe (not in Scrum). So it depends on where one is giving an interview and one has to adjust answers accordingly.

As a Quality Analyst can i move to Product Owner role, how this would lead my professional life
@izenbridge
@izenbridge 3 жыл бұрын
We believe, Product Owner is an important role and has good prospects. So moving to Product Management role requires working in product domain and developing experience in same. You can think of starting from doing CSPO education program to understand the role, we do this class and details can be found here : www.izenbridge.com/scrum-product-owner-cspo/

No PO I have ever had could divide a feature into stories
@izenbridge
@izenbridge 4 жыл бұрын
It is true that PO needs understanding of the product. Team also helps to divide features into stories. When PO facilitates to divide features into stories, team suggests and final decision lies with PO.

Is PO a better role in terms of career or Scrum Master is better role to persue career.Please help me
@izenbridge

PO is around Business Analysis and Domain whereas ScrumMaster is around team leadership. So see which area you are good in since excellence in both area leads to success.

Can anyone help me understand who the Product Owner is? Is he the person from Client side or the person at the Dev end. For an instance, let say I am working for Amazon client in XYZ organisation, then Product Owner will be the employee of Amazon or the employee of XYZ organisation.
@izenbridge
@izenbridge 3 жыл бұрын
The Scrum is designed in a way which promotes the organization should develop their own products. Now the situation you explained will be common in market and the solution is based on contract between two companies. In general we do see client side PO more than Dev Org doing Product Management

The most worthless roles in the IT are SM and PO. I always wonder what do you do all damn day. You get features from business, for a 5-6 people team it might be 5-6 features in a quarter, the team or it's usually developers who will divide the features into stories and point them and finish them. PO can only say which feature is high priority, the developers know the order of stories to get done to get feature out. The team moves the story through different phases - planned, in progress, review, blocked, testing, po review , done. Why do you need a full time SM role just to make sure people move their stories. Developers are really smart people, they know what to do, they can move the stories, don't need a sm telling them. It's basically another way of making these non technical worthless people who should be working at walmart have nice jobs

We respect your concerns and thoughts. If a team is matured and performing well together, they may not need Scrum Master. A Scrum Master is needed to challenge the team, facilitate important decisions, help to develop ground rules, help to monitor iteration Plan, helps to resolve conflicts etc. SM is a team coach who make team the team productive to collaborate and deliver results.
@rajathslr
@rajathslr 3 жыл бұрын
In most of the teams nowadays, we see that SM role is played by a technically capable person and PO role is played by someone who knows the architecture/design of the product very well. So, if you are in a team where SM and PO are not technically strong, ur point is valid or else in other cases, its just a role by the developers and architects of the team.

You might be talking about expert and pro dev people working in a startup environment. You may not find that level of experience and expertise in every team of a big organization.
@rajathslr

@@lostandlostagain Not actually, in B2B products of niche segments like control systems, PO and SM just cant manage without technical knowledge Honeywell, Siemens, Philips etc, its the norm to have technically qualified people
@lostandlostagain

@@rajathslr yes exactly, I just meant to say like in this vast space of companies and industries along with new framework and work model, it will never be like things will be moving or getting done in exactly same fashion. There can be a Co existence of different setups in different places. But what actually happens in day today life due to human tendency is that many of us might believe what we did or seen or went through , everything should be in that fashion then only it is correct , which may not be true always.
Does Product Owner needs to be Technical?
