🏚️ Ousefleet Hall was built to designs by architects J.B. and W.M. Atkinson in 1873 by the Empson family, who also lived at Goole Hall and Yokefleet Hall. Along with the hall, a pair of cottages known as Ousefleet Cottages were built close to it. The cottages originally accommodated the employees, servants, maids and chefs to the Empson family.
The hall was left unoccupied after the death of owner Mr R. Cornwall Empson in 1897, after which his son Mr James C.L. Empson decided to close the mansion and live elsewhere. The furniture was sold and the family portraits put up for auction. The Co-operative Wholesale Society bought the hall, cottages and land from the trustees of Mr R.C. Empson in 1916 for the purpose of farming the highest class of warp-land potatoes. During the 1930s, the hall was considered for demolition, but survived until the 1950s, when it was finally torn town.
Later, the cottages were converted into a large dwelling, which became known as Ousefleet Hall Lodge.
The lodge was lived in by a family up until it was sold to developers in March 2007 for £354,000. The property entered the market again in 2017 at a price of £446,000 but failed to sell. It remains vacant and derelict as of 2021.
