@@sparky5543 Yep I celebrated new year with my family there in 2008. It was actually a really beautiful place filled with lots of people, families, music and joy. You can imagine the ice rink was always filled with people riding around to music, all while there were hundreds of people going up and down the ski mountain. It really was an awesome place to spend your times as a kid in the summer or winter.

This place is being patrolled by security and the police, people have been caught here. Furthermore, the active Honors Haven Hotel is right next door. The buzzing power sound you heard in the basement is for the active cell phone antenna's on the roof of the building. There were plans to keep some of the building structures such as the ice skating ring, and multi floor round building in the new renovation plans to turn the resort into a casino. There's photos and videos floating around on the internet. The new casino was planned to be completed and opened on March 2020, there's still a billboard on Rt 209 announcing the opening date, but the resort still sits abandoned. The building is indeed has been marked for demo. 500 acres of the property has been put up for sale. It's cool seeing you two explore something so near by to me.

500 acres obviously doesn't come cheap or investors and developers would have scooped it up a long time ago. Skating rink must have been so cool back in the day, it's still architecturally beautiful. They just don't build structures like this anymore.

Unfortunately, there are several other abandoned resorts in the area. Additionally, several small bungalow colonies where the mother and kids would stay for the summer and the father would travel back and forth during the weekend. The travel vendors would stop weekly. Such as: the dairy man, the meat man, the clothes man. The colony would attract NYC residents. The colony would have an outdoor pool, ball courts, and an indoor pavilion. Kids would see each other every summer. Completely outdoor fun. I write from experience. I had the opportunity to indulge for two consecutive summers only for two full weeks each 1967 and 1968. This was the alternate to the Jersey shore. What fun, what adventure, what memories.

@ I get what you're meaning, but these didn't pop up entirely due to America being great. The Borscht Belt's vacationers were almost exclusively Jewish for two reasons. First it let families who lived near each other in NYC or shared similar history spend quality time together. But second was that these started in the 1920s during antisemitism, that continued through WWII. They weren't just fun but they were safe places for people to go to, instead of essentially being by yourself if someone started something with you. I live in the Belt area and I know so many people had great vacations here. But people stuck together like this partly because America was an even shittier place.

The GE range and most definitely the KitchenAid KDS15 dishwasher are 1964 to 1966 model years. Sun yellow I think it’s called. Harvest gold is deeper. That KitchenAid was about $300 in 1966. Almost $2500 in today’s money. Commercial build quality, high temp sanitizing. Unheard of quality for consumer level stuff. It’s a safe bet that the range and dishwasher would work as new. This was not a cheap penthouse suite!

@@Joseph-wz4bb - No, they don't look better. They're a bit cheesy. I'm not into mid-century modern. However, they rarely fail to work. We have several hundred units and the new ones are constantly having to have burners, receptacles, bake elements, and switches replaced. They are planned obsolescence crap. That is what happens when you replace ceramic insulators with low grade plastic.

In several of the back rooms we found containers of literally hundreds of used syringes and other drug paraphernalia, so it had been pretty recently squatted in.

Looks like a color popular during the 70's when harvest gold and yellow were big in kitchens. I was thinking though the tower was built during the 60's because they used them tilting adjustable aluminum sashes in the window walls on the main floor. What I've noticed in buildings that style of window was popular during the 50's, but they quit making them in the 60's. I'm guessing the kitchen is probably from the mid to late 60's. Companies would be producing the same products for several years, so I would imagine what they started manufacturing in one decade would continue into the next before they adapted to a new style.

Amazing video guys. So my father is a recently retired broadway musician who has had a pretty extensive career including going on tour with musicians all over the world. I just showed him this video seeing as we live in NY not very far from the city. I said, does the ‘nevele resort ring a bell to you’ and his face lit up. He told me so many stories about playing such good music and having such memorable experiences about this place and then we sat down and watched this video together. He’s got really fond memories of this place it’s sad to see it in such a state, it really hit him I could tell. He hasn’t laid eyes on the place in probably 30 years.

MrVossdaboss99 they are so outdated and worth nothing now. Even by the time the resort closed they were outdated. I use to work at a hill, you get a really good price buying the equipment in bulk. They would have made the money back many times over on the rental fee. Trying to sell them was probably harder then just leaving them.

I was literally just looking up the resort because I remember seeing the sign saying it was opening in 2020. Found a video of a before and after shot compilation, and here you boys are. Practically in my backyard. I would say check out the Raleigh but most of it is still open, and the Concord looks like there's a bit left but it's deeper into the property and I don't want to be liable if y'all get hurt. The stairways have rotted away and it hurts to see such beautiful architecture not be preserved.

I have seen this many times and its so sad to see the Nevele in such bad condition .. i did think they were going to step in and refurbish it but maybe that was a rumour .. thanks for visiting this wonderful place i got told by a lady that her husband worked there before they met and the owner treated the staff really well .. he did live in one of those locker rooms in the staff quarters .. it is the first part you go in where the staff stayed .. when you see peoples shoes and jackets left behind you wonder who wore them in the past and when they got bought .. I first saw this in J.P. Videos he explored it with his friend i remember thinking how sad that it all ended as it used to be a popular resort. I would love to visit there but im disabled so no go im afraid .. The ski boots are sad to see just havent been used for years .. i hope you enjoyed the explore this story really captured my heart and with the lady contacting me about how her husband loved working there .. you guys should of wore your masks to protect yourselves from the mold . I like that kitchen too very American fifties oh wow love it .. i knew you would like the ink rink building .. great video guys x

They've seen videos and photos of every place before they ever drive to a location.
