Man an old western town stuck in the dinosaur times sounds like a killer show
@KnTenshi22 жыл бұрын
Yep. Though it annoys me that the author had the character call everything a demon. It'd be like the first Western European to come across a Grizzly Bear and scream "Oh god, a demon!" or the first European explorers of Australia and New Zealand seeing Kangaroos and Komodo Dragons and exclaiming "Demons!". It might come as a surprise to people, but Christians (even in the 1800s) knew that animals exist, and could generally tell the difference between something likely natural vs supernatural. Swap this out with a small Hindi village and calling all of the dinos 'Asuras' (or 'Devas', or whatever is the most culturally appropriate) and see how much flack you'd get.

@@KnTenshi2 well, they were supernaturally transported through time. They would be confused, disoriented, and shocked. I could see them, at least momentarily, confusing strange animals for demons. And having a preacher there to reinforce that misconception wouldn't help.

What if there was a Dinosaur SCP where the Dinosaurs now exist as semi-metaphysical entities which alter their appearance based on what people thought of them? Like in the beginning the ancient people thought of them as Gods and Dragons that breathed fire and were immortal. Nowadays they are thought of as natural animals closely related to birds. That would be an extreme case of reality warping.
@undeadprinceofchaos37312 жыл бұрын
That’s actually a pretty interesting idea for an SCP! Which also works with how in real life the mental image of a dinosaur is evolving with each new scientific breakthrough about them.
@Peepshow7892 жыл бұрын
I actually had this exact idea with "A completly normal T-Rex", an entity that takes on the most popular form of a T-Rex with archelogical evidance suggesting thats only a juvinile form and the adult was much more dangerous, larger and was dragon like. After Jurrassic Park came out the foundation had to damage control to make containment easier and thus we transistioned to big bird trex and hero trex in the Jurrassic world films. Never did get round to making a full article and submitting it tho.

@Ghoul Yeah to prevent Dinosaurs/Dragons from returning and overthrowing us the SCP Foundation and perhaps all world governments would participate in a worldwide global amnestic practice where dinosaurs are getting more and more attuned and normalized to the natural world. Eventually they will probably either remove dinosaurs from existence, but if that takes too much amnestics to the point where people will realize something is up they could always try nerfing them to the point where they were just seen as overgrown chickens that were "Super Lame" compared to the awesome pre-scientific interpretations of their bones.

Okay, I LOVE SCPs, and have read... a lot of them. But somehow, I managed to never come across a dino-SCP. Some of these are really good. 6556 is my favorite one so far, I think. There are so many "dark" youtube channels, Dino Vlogs has them all beat. Even going so far as to have the host acting like some modern KZbinrs who've had some controversy, complete with an apology video! I don't usually like meta SCPs, but I think this one passes muster because of how in-universe there is an anomalous explanation for it.

I’m glad you liked 6556! It was definitely a lot of fun to play with the KZbin format and write dinosaurs so I’m happy you enjoyed it 🦖

My inner child will never stop being amazed by the concept alone of dinosaurs, even even now so many years later I'll still stumble on a toy or trinket of some jurassic or dollar store knock off that makes me think of burying them in the sandbox or in the dirt and then just taking whatever tool toy I could to excavate "a rare find"

Am I the only one who laughed at the thought of father Jacob getting eaten by a T-Rex while trying to exorcise it?

There is a book when Harry Dresden animates a dinosaur as a mount in a musuem when facing a powerful necromancer in Dead Beat.

The one about the old west town stuck in the Cretacious... It's actually kind of a terrifying thought, imagining being a person with no concept of dinosaurs suddenly transported to a place with no other humans, no civilization... At the mercy of flora and fauna that defy imagination.

I opened KZbin hoping you had dropped something new! And it’s the perfect length, too.

The town being transferred through time reminds me of Eric Flint's _Ring of Fire_ series.

Now I’ve got a idea for a SCP dinosaur who’s like a mythbuster, disproving myths.
